We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Austria. The staff were lovely, very helpful indeed.

The food was very good, menu options were varied, and allergies pretty well catered for. It's not a la Carte for guests, you choose your dinner options at breakfast each day. Kids menu is varied, but too much comes with chips. I had to ask for veggies for the nipper.

The boot room, locker room and ski hire shop under the hotel were also very good, and highly convenient. Pool very cold, not massive, but clean and tidy.

My only grumble is that the place is too hot, all the time. Our room was on the front facing the street, so opening the window was noisy, and didn't help much.

Otherwise, all good. Very good location, central, and close to busses, apres ski bars and the nursery slopes.

This hotel is in a very good spot for both skiing and bars in the resort. The room was typically Austrian in decoration and was spacious. The food, on the whole was very good but we did leave the restaurant hungry some nights. Bread with the soup would have made a difference. Service was slow some evenings and I have to say the gala dinner was not plentiful and was very drawn out. The buffet evening was really good and the food delicious and plentiful.
All the staff at the hotel were very welcoming and polite.
The bus stop to another ski resort close by is very conveniently outside the hotel.

Just returned from a weeks stay. First impressions was the hotel is dated and a little tired. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was basic with a old fashioned bathroom, the shower was held up with a hook and not even a shower screen/curtain was fitted. The main room had a cream shag piled carpet, which when damp smelled musty. We found storage was limited. Our bed was comfortable, but the cushions was far too soft for us. We did ask for extra pillows and was provided. The rooms was clean, but don’t put anything near the only bin in the bathroom. I had put my boots next to the radiator to dry, when I came to wear them again, I couldn’t find them, it turned out the cleaner had thought I’d put them near the bin for disposal. After a visit to reception the owner very quickly tracked them down and returned them. The biggest disappointment for our stay was the food, it was poor and lacked choice. In our stay we only enjoyed two out of the seven meals. The food was tasteless and lacked variety. We watched lots of nice food going into the public restaurant, so felt our food was second class. On a plus the pool was lovely, the location of the ski room was great and the view from our window was beautiful. Not sure if COVID have caused cut backs. I know this a family run business and the team worked hard to ensure our visit was enjoyable.

I just got back from a week’s stay at Hotel Austria with my family and partner and felt desperate to write a review.
This hotel was amazing and so were its lovely staff. You could really feel the pride this family took in their hotel- down to the tiny details in the bedrooms, the cleanliness of all rooms and the friendly smiles they gave.
We were half board (breakfast and dinner) and as I am a vegetarian who also has dairy allergies, I was worried my diet would be a bit restrictive whilst in Austria. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The staff at hotel Austria were more than happy to make me custom dinners each night or tweak the meals on the set menu to meet my dietary requirements. It was such a nice treat to find a milk alternative on our table on our second morning, which was kindly bought by our lovely head waiter (I wish I’d taken his name!)
The hotel pool and sauna was a lovely bit of respite from the excitement of the slopes and it was beautifully maintained and cleaned.
The ski hire facilities were attached the hotel, just a flight of stairs down and as just one of the benefits of the hotel, you have private ski lockers to store your equipment.
We asked for a local bus into the neighbouring town and we were given free bus passes each for the week! It was lovely and make our trip to neighbouring slopes a lot easier than by foot!
We would love to visit Austria again soon and Hotel Austria would definitely be our first choice.
Thank you to everyone who made our stay perfect!

Hotel Austria is a sparkling 'hidden jewel' in the Tyrolean mountains of Austria, in Ski Jewel area Wildschonau. The hotel is family run by Angelika and Susie. Both are very lovely people and very good at their job making you feel welcome. They and the staff have looked after us so very well during our stay. We have stayed in many hotels over the years in the Austrian and French Alps and this is one of the very best. A great find. Great breakfast. Fantastic 4 course dinner with a lovely choice every night of local dishes. Lift to room. Lovely swimming pool although water when we tried it was bit too cold for us. The main gondola Ski lift and ski school is no more than 50m from front door. Skiing just in neiderau is a bit limiting if staying for a week but free ski bus to rest of area on lift pass...You can ski back to bottom of the lift. There is a warm free ski locker under the hotel. Ski hire easy under hotel. 10% off if staying in hotel. We booked ski hire on line even cheaper deals and skis fitted in 15 mins. Admittedly had our own boots.

Great holiday. Thank you Angelica and Susie.

Hotel Austria is situated in the heart of the village. It is greatly located for direct access to the Markbachjoch ski lifts. Immediately outside is the bus stop to take you to the ski area of Auffach also in the Ski Jewell of Wildschönau. The friendliness we received at returning is so warmly given by Angalica, it really does feel like going home to family. We had our regular large lovely room at the front with good balcony and views of the mountains and village. The breakfast is always good with a good choice of hot and cold. I particularly like the bread and rolls. A good all round selection for breakfast. We were half board and enjoyed traditional Austrian meals in the evening which was started by a very “help yourself” salad. The drinks and choices of wine and beers at the Austria are also very good. My husband and step-son use the in-house ski rental which is under the hotel and accessed for guessed through the lower ground, there is a warm room down here for your boots but they hire a locker from the in house rental shop which if you stay at Hotel Austria you do get a discount. I should also comment on the single room my stepson had. It was a good size with a balcony, lovely shower room and well heated. We are regulars each winter to Hotel Austria and can thoroughly recommend it.

Big Group of us stayed at this hotel last week from 25th January till 01 February. It was my mates 60th Birthday bash and we had a great time. The food in the hotel was very good and the location to the slopes could not be better as the base station was 50 metres away across the road as were loads of good bars and restaurants. Good ski plus boot heated lockers were available for guests. Really cannot complain about anything as the service was very good and very reasonably priced. The pistes are groomed every night and if required every morning.

Hotel offered sauna, steam and pool facilities. The owner switched off the sauna, steam facilities and then locked the door to prevent access. Why? "It cost too much, to run". When I mentioned reporting the matter to the Ingham resort rep she agreed to turn the sauna and steam rooms on. This did not take place the doors were then locked.

Breakfast and evening meals. Previous comments highlight the same issues that took place on my trip. It became a standard joke from other guests what standard of food may be served. Like others I found myself eating out more and the Hexanhasl is fantastic.

Rooms basic, old broken chair on the balcony. Dated woodchip wallpaper, cobweb and dust in the bathroom.

I love Austria and skied various resorts since 2006. Sadly to say the owner, and the hotel was a very disappointing experience.

I would certainly avoid this hotel.

Upon my return home I contacted Ingham head office to raise my concerns. They were already aware of previous complaints for the same concerns being raised. So why are they still associated with this hotel, and taking bookings and not warning the customer? Poor customer service from Ingham.

Niederau
Fab location, great restaurants. Visit early season when you are able to ski back to the resort and use the lower level beginner area.

We’ve had a fab stay at Hotel Austria. We picked it for the location - just opposite the Gondola, the pool and the réputation for food. The team have been super helpful and friendly and have been flexible about veggie food to suit my intolerances.
The rooms are cosy and traditional and immaculately clean. So nice to have a pool to ease off the muscles at the end of busy day skiing. Highly recommend!

I had read other reviews before booking so wasn't surprised to find the staff unwelcoming and the poor service, which others had reported.

In addition there was little information about facilities for example times of the sauna opening and when we did manage to get in, (just once during the week when we found it open) the steam room wasn't on. It felt mean and there were no towels for the pool.

The ski service they have in the hotel's shop was hit and miss, dependent on who was serving. I wasn't offered a choice of skis, although had paid for the top package. Communication with one chap was difficult on the first day which was very busy. He didn't work again but unfortunately the pair he gave me didn't fit my boots very well, making them difficult to get out of them without force. Another chap who did speak English was very helpful and he did change them for a good pair. I felt lucky that I didn't fall in the first couple of days.

We did eat well as the soup and main courses in the evening were good but the buffet salad and desserts were poor as was the breakfast. No fresh fruit or veg all week.

The wifi isn't locked so expected a lot of people were logging on making it cut of all the time.

However, the hotel's location is excellent, so near to the ski lifts, bus stops right outside and a short walk to the Hotel Staffler which has a good après ski bar with great atmosphere. (This was certainly lacking in the Hotel Austria.)

The resort is lovely, linked to two others by bus. Great snow and lovely bars/restaurants on the pistes.
