The Staffler sits in the centre of Niederau, in the heart of the Kitzbuhler Alps, close to ski schools, hire shops, the main lifts and nursery slopes. The hotel is the resorts oldest, most well known and offers guests a relaxed and informal atmosphere. En suite bedrooms are simply furnished. A number can accommodate additional beds, some have balconies and all have mountain views. There are also a limited number of interconnecting family rooms. On the ground floor is a comfortable reception area, O'Malley's bar - always popular and busy, a fantastic sunny terrace and a bright and airy dining room. Streamed sport is available in O'Malley's and complimentary high speed wifi is also available throughout the hotel. A complimentary buffet breakfast and three course dinner are served each day. The Staffler is uniquely not Saturday to Saturday specific - guests can arrive and depart at anytime. The hotel is multi-award winning including it's ranking on TripAdvisor, the recipient of their 'Certificate of Excellence' for the past eight years, the only hotel in the Wildschonau to have their coveted 'Hall of Fame' award and a unique recipient of their silver 'Green Leaders' ECO award. Last season the Staffler received their 'Travellers Choice' award - voted by TripAdvisor reviewers, rating the hotel one of the top 25 hotels in the whole of Austria for families and service (number 14 in fact). The hotel is pet friendly - dogs especially. Late flights on the last day of many a personal holiday have always frustrated so we will always endeavour to make at least one room available for showers and changing for guests on afternoon or evening departures from the hotel - and at no additional cost. All guest bookings are made directly with ourselves or with a small number of Online Travel Agents. We do not look after any specific Tour Operator clients. If you are looking for a luxury hotel with lots of amenities then the Staffler is probably not for you but if your accommodation choice is about outstanding service, complimentary Ski Guiding subject to conditions and lots more besides then the Staffler will satisfy - and how!

A little late in writing this review, but just starting to feel normal again….. 4 weeks later!

Having stayed at the Staffler 9 years ago with my 9 year old Son, I wanted to introduce a group of close friends to the hotel. As most “party bookers” would be, I was a little anxious regarding whether the group would enjoy it or not due to the fact you are spending their money on your recommendation.
It’s fair to say that everyone LOVED it!

From the welcome to, ski guiding, meals presented to the theme nights, The Staffler did not disappoint.

Nick, Yana and their team have this operation down to a tee and everything was spot on. Nothing is too much trouble, you don’t have to think about think about what you’re doing as you are literally told step by step, day by day.

It’s also evident that The Staffler attracts the same calibre of people year, year out. We made friends with other guests instantly and felt at ease throughout our stay.

We aren’t the quietest group when it comes to holidaying, but again this was accepted and our fun was shared by other guests up for a laugh.

Ski guiding was incredible and allowed us to get more miles in than we ever have before on a ski holiday. Again, socialising with others at lunch or on the lifts. All guides were patient, informative, with a sense of humour thrown in.

To wrap it up….If you want an entertaining week, with like minded people that don’t take life too seriously, good food, great beer and plenty of ski miles thrown in, do not overlook The Staffler!

Fancy dress on themed nights is optional, but advised for further giggles! Make sure you leave some room in your case!

Nick, Yana, thank you for a great week, one that gets talked about still and memories to remember forever!

Mark, Michaela, Sam, Michael, Tash & The General!

I have never written review before.. I've never been moved enough to do so but I was absolutely blown away by this gem a hotel and by Austrian skiing in general. I spent four days there on a girls ski trip, two of our party had been before and had raved about it, we all had the most amazing experience and are planning a return trip with husbands and children. From the minute I entered I was bowled over by the friendly, fun staff who simply couldn't do enough for us... amazing atmosphere, relaxed, fun, felt like home, staff genuinely happy to have us there. The hotel itself is lovely, clean, comfy beds, hot showers, great food, fab selection of drinks at the bar, boot room all easy to get to and plenty of ski storage, the cave bar in the basement is an absolute hoot with great music, games and atmosphere.. we didn't hear any noise from this in the rooms once collapsed in bed. The ski hire shop is 100m up the road and the minibus which collected us from he airport stopped on the way there and way back for us to pick up/drop of skis. The slopes around the hotel are just amazing, wide open slopes with something for all abilities, the Austrians are so friendly and the prices on the sloes much better than France. Niederau area itself is not enormous but the hotel puts on transport to all the exceptional surrounding slopes and the best of the snow every day in groups to suit ability. Guiding is provided too if wanted, we had the most lovely guide, Beth, who was just a joy to spend the day with and whizzed us round all the best places to ski and eat so we didn't have to look at a map at all and just enjoyed skiing. Its clear the team put an exceptional amount of thought into getting the experience perfect for each individual guest. I can't recommend the Staffler highly enough, I'd give it 10 stars of I could.

Recently visited the Staffler with a group of friends. What a fantastic surprise!
Set in a fantastic location in the lovely town of Niederau, Austria with picturesque views of the surrounding mountains from all rooms.
The hotel is extremely welcoming and friendly, Nick and the team pull out all the stops to ensure all guests have a memorable stay. The rooms are well laid out, clean, comfortable and balcony views superb.. The food is real top quality, Jason the chef consistently produces culinary delights at a real high standard, great attention to detail. The hotel also boasts a relaxed bar area and below is the almost soundproof fun cave bar disco, perfect for night owls like myself!
The Staffler caters for groups, families, singles alike and I will be returning with my family in the not so distant future.
One negative.. ..We only stayed for 5 nights 😂
Thanks to Nick and all the team for an amazing time.

Just returned from a brilliant stay at this wonderful hotel and it was perfect. We were so well looked after by the staff who couldn't do enough to help us. We slept well in lovely clean rooms with hot showers, soft pillows and comfy beds. The three course dinners were particularly delicious. Lovely puddings - the raspberry creme brulee was particularly memorable as was the lovely Sunday roast dinner which had impressive Yorkshire puddings and very good gravy. We had great fun in the Cave Bar especially on karaoke night! I won't forget that in a hurry. We all took advantage of the wonderful ski guiding service and had amazing skiing on often empty slopes. All of the ski areas in this part of Austria are very busy at half term, but the Staffler guides knew exactly where to take us so we got the best skiing and short queues for the lifts, if there were any at all. Nick, Yana and all of the staff did a wonderful job. They really care about their guests and are always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Niederau is a great little resort. It's well placed between two large ski areas and there is skiing on your doorstep, the gondola is 100 metres away, as well as everything else you need. Thank you Nick and Yana and the rest of the staff for a wonderful holiday. We are looking forward to returning. I wouldn't want to ski anywhere else or stay anywhere else.

We as a starting group of 3 found the Hotel Staffler by chance 9 years ago. Since then we have travelled far and wide to many other resorts and establishments across the ski valleys. We always make an appearance at the Hotel Staffler every year we return. We return because of the Staffler is unique it stands out from the rest through it’s easy location in Austria a 1 hr transfer from Innsbruck others a little further chauffeured in a VW van from the airport with one of the Staffler team.

From the start of your trip your made to feel part of the family, the welcoming smiles 😃 of our host and now friend Nick and Yana both are very hospitable and know what they are doing. The Staffler offers it all great Food if you miss it that’s your fault you dine with everyone staying, this enables you all to discuss your days skiing experiences etc.

The Staffler offers free guiding for everyone and all abilities of skiing, even mine. The guides take you to all the local restaurants and wineries should you wish to have a drink etc. The guides Willie RD, Beth, and even Nick allow us all the ski 🎿 at your level and offer guidance on technique etc.

In all the Staffler is unique and it’s a complete experience can’t wait to see them in January 2022 it’s experience that all should come and try you won’t be disappointed it’s fun fun fun 🤩, looking forward to seeing you all and awaiting the soup.

Just returned from a few days skiing in Austria and stayed at the Hotel Staffler for the first time but definitely not The Last. The English owner was the perfect host and great fun and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Niederau is very well located to access all points of the SkiWelt which the Staffler Ski guides ensure you get to ski without hassle. Great food prepared every night where you sit down to enjoy with all the other guests many of whom return year on year and several many times each year! We were a group of three but felt included in everything that was going on. A great bar to relax in and also late night “cave bar” in the cellar if you want to continue the Après late into the night. This is the perfect location.
Thank you Nick and Yana.

We spent the Christmas Holiday at The Staffler and received first class treatment throughout our holiday. When we first arrived we had a very warm welcome from Nick who runs the hotel, our rooms were very nice and spotlessly clean, staff all exceptionally polite and helpful, Vicky was extremely helpful in arranging our Covid Tests we needed to fly home, and various other legal requirements needed to travel in Austria.
The food served in the restaurant was all very nice and catered for a variety of
dishes. Overall I would most definitely recommend this hotel.

Thanks for your really lovely review. We're so glad you had another lovely time with us and enjoyed a very special Christmas at the Staffler. We're especially pleased to hear that you felt the help we offered regarding Covid regulations and testing was positive - we've worked so very hard this year to try to help guests manage the ever changing issues the pandemic presents us with. And our first engagement announcement at the hotel! Congratulations to all!

Amazing hotel run by people who genuinely care about their guests. We were looked after from the time we booked until we were well on our journey home by staff who were professional, friendly and caring . They did everything they could to ensure we had a great ski holiday. The ski guiding service at the Staffler allows guests to explore the SkiWelt which has a vast number of connected ski areas. Back at the hotel we ate delicious three course dinners every single evening - the roast beef and Yorkshire puddings on Sunday was a highlight but all of the food was really, really good. The dinners are what you'd expect in a gastro pub, tasty and delicious. We enjoyed every single meal that was prepared, cooked and served with great care. We had comfy beds, soft pillows and hot showers. All of the hassle is taken out of a ski holiday for you by Nick and Yana and their wonderful staff. Late for picking up your skis "No problem, we'll call the shop and make arrangements so you can pick them up first thing in the morning ", late flight "No problem!, we can arrange a transfer for you", worried about getting a ski bus to the lifts or getting lost on the slopes "No problem, we'll take you guiding!" Honestly for me, staying here was a 5* ski holiday in a small, wonderful hotel which was great fun to stay in and where we felt part of their family. Thank you so so much. I cannot wait to return.

I’ve been meaning to visit this family run ski hotel for years and finally found a window of time to go for a few days.
We were made to feel like family from the beginning and offered so much support with everything, from the journey there to ski hire and passes, dietary requests.
We were introduced to the other guests and fully included at meal times with the dinning room being an amazing community event every night we all ate at the same time and we loved that concept.
The ski area is diverse and expansive and Nick organises guided group day trips for everyone of every ski ability and this is a huge draw as you get taken off for the whole day and shown round the mountains and have lunch as a group. The guided ski days are entirely optional and we did a mix of time alone and group time.
The staff are pure magic. The cave bar is dangerous amounts of fun. The food is exceptional and the rooms are warm and comfy. We even had a bath to soak away muscle aches after a day out skiing. We loved it so much we’ve booked to go back at Easter 🐣 Can’t wait ! Thank you Nick, Yana and the Staffler Gang for such a wonderful experience and epic find !

Sooo looking forward to getting back to my favourite alpine home from home hotel. After so many hopes and false expectations of winter 20-21, I’m now hoping to get skiing once again with the amazing Staffler hotel ski guiding set up. Free daily guided excursions to various locations close by and further afield as customary! Fabulous. Familiar faces welcoming back to hotel after great skiing days and banter. All prior to comfy room rest and prep for pre dinner drinks before wonderful dinners always preceded by a gourmet canapé or two. Of the not too many opportunities I’ve had to visit over the three winters prior to Covid (5 trips) I’ve nearly always met people from a previous holiday there. Great family atmosphere created by Nick Brooker and fantastic personalities within the Staffler staff ! No wonder people return again and again. Including me ! Bring it on !
