Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We loved this place. It is exactly like a UK centerparc. Everything was immaculately tidy. The brick cottages were warm and had everything you needed. We had quite a bit of private land around ours too. It did not going to break the bank which is great. If people want it to be as modern as UK Centerparcs then they should expect to pay UK prices. We thought it was very clean just a tad tired in places but it didn't spoil the holiday and the cost was affordable. Although the exposed beams in the bedrooms caused a bit of getting used to - lots of head bumps!

So nostalgic. Which I suppose has its downside. I first stayed here in 1999 and it literally hadn’t changed since then. However I kind of liked that about it, it just adds to the charm! Friendly staff, fantastic waterpark, which again, hasn’t changed, but is actually very well maintained! The park has a lot to do for families too, probably a cheaper option than centre parcs and for being in the south east of England it’s closer too! Good supermarket on site too!
We hired linen which was clean, only downside is we had a 4 person chalet, and only single beds on offer so felt a bit like a school trip. But other than that, I can’t complain, we enjoyed it and will be back! I love how the chalets are laid out like neighbourhoods, and the lake and general atmosphere is ambient.

The bungalow was very clean. The lady at the reception was very welcoming and polite. I forgot to hand in my bungalow cards before leaving and when I called I was told there wa no problem to simply mail them to the park without any charges.

We were sold the concept that Sunparks would be as nice if not nicer than Center Parcs. This isn't true. It is more comparable to a Butlins/Pontins site. On arrival we were greeted by the sickly smell of 'Wet Dog' when we opened our Cottage door. Our accommodation also had dog hairs on the sofa and we were generally dreading our stay. Our kids did make the most of Aqualand, which was a good job, as everything else at the Park was in a state of disrepair or was out of order. The kids love to play on the arcades, unfortunately only one out of about 15 were actually working, although the steering wheel to this machine did come off in my sons hand when he was playing. Added (payable activities) Aqua Park were good fun, although the numbers should be limited as it was virtually impossible for anyone under the age of 15 to get round without being trampled, their was also a lack of lifeguards on hand. I would thoroughly recommend the Water Bikes, although two out of the four available were faulty. Overall, it's very overpriced for a summer break and if you are from the UK I would recommend saving your money. It is however in an excellent and beautiful location, and we spent a couple of days away from the site visiting the amazing city of Bruges (about 30 minute drive) and also a day at the theme park Plopsaland (about 30 mins drive) both of these I would highly recommend.

Early July I booked a family vacation on Booking.com but encountered an issue with the billing system so I called Oostduinkerke to share my issue. I asked if I could do a direct transfer and I was told that it will be fine to do so. I got the bank account number from them and immediately paid the full amount (over EUR600). The next day the booking was cancelled by Booking.com because they couldn’t effect payment. I phoned Oostduinkerke to see if the booking could be transferred directly with them considering I already paid and was told not possible, they need a reference number from the online booking platform before they can do a booking. So I tried to book online but guess what, I had to pay (again) before the booking could be confirmed. After MANY calls later, to Booking.com, Oostduinkerke and Sunparks directly, it was simply - sorry, we can’t help you. So fine, I made other plans and asked to be refunded. I was told the refund will happen automatically because there’s no reference number attached. I called again a week later and was told I have to wait between three to six WEEKS before they will refund. My money, paid into their account because they told me to, and then couldn’t honour the booking. I’m still waiting.

The houses and the pool are disgusting, what the frick?

We traveled with 10 people in 2 houses, both of them were terrible. Mold on the ceiling, huge piss stains on the beds, the house overall was extremely dirty and uncomfortable. I am really not that picky but this was on another level.
You can't really sleep at night since the houses are insulated so badly, you can hear your neighbors talk quietly in their bedroom.

TV was not a smart TV and still on analog signal, which will be shut down in 3 months.

The pool was incredibly dirty all around. The walls, the drains, even the stairs to the slides, so much mold everywhere. This one needs to be closed, cleaned and repaired.

Havn't been here since maybe mid 2000's, when I returned I remebered parts of the home and swimming pool. Remember to bring your own bedding, food, hand soap, towels etc as that's not in the home. There's so much to do here, including swimming, bowling, pool, one buffet restaurant and many more. you can never get bored here. A lovely place that's good value for money.

The standard of the house is simple, but that is okay. There is no internet access in the house, although WLAN is listed as a service in the booking confirmation. Technically, this is true, but it is only available in the central building. It was clearly noticeable that the house has not been cleaned thoroughly but only superficially for months. We did not look for dirt, but we encountered it everywhere. We pushed the beds apart to sleep separately and underneath it was really disgusting. There is no dishwasher in the house.

The park itself is fine and the pool is very good for kids.

This place is incredible. I bet Micheal Jackson's Neverland is still in better condition than this place. Everything is broken, damaged or dirty. Lucky there is a fantastic place to eat and drink down the road.

Anyway I've worked out how to survive a week at sunparks. Get up, get a shower, leave the site, have a nice day out and get bind drunk on Belgian beer. Come home and sleep and repeat the process.

A total discrace.

Very similar concept to center parcs in the UK but at a fraction of the price, even including the ferry crossing. The multi sport pass makes it a lot cheaper than the UK equivalent too. It's not luxury by any means, but not roughing it either. The water park, badminton, mini golf, table tennis, bowling etc. were all very good. The villa was well set up to be a sociable space and we made good use of the kitchen by taking breakfast and lunch food and we cooked an evening meal using the hobs too. There is no oven though so proper meals need a little forethought.

To really get it as cheap as possible, book a fair bit in advance for the early bird discount, take your own bed sheets (Sunparks provide a single mattress, single duvet and a pillow per guest.) also take your own towels (1 for the pool, another for showers/baths in the villa) and don't forget a bath mat like we did! Also take kitchen cleaning bits and bobs. They provided a scourer and cloth, but we took washing up liquid, hand soap (also needed for the bathroom) and a tea towel. If you don't take these things. You can pay to rent some (towels and sheets) or buy things in the shop, but I found this was just making the trip more expensive than it needed to be.

I would highly recommend this place to both families and groups who are looking to have a quiet and relaxed time, or who want to enjoy the sports facilities like us.

Hi- When we went last summer there was Wi-Fi in the bar area but nothing available in the chalets. In the bar area the Wi-Fi wasn't that reliable either. Hope that helps.
