Stayed for one night at the westendia, the hotel being about 8 miles west of Ostende along the coast in Westende.

Check-in was smooth, the small reception is in the restuarant, the hotel rooms are located in a block outside of the main building/restaurant.

The room itself was spacious, on the 1st floor had a balcony, TV, large bathroom with bathtub/shower and a separate toilet. The bed was more comfortable than it looked.

We needed to have a bath in the evening but the water was stone cold, I went to the reception and the problem was rectified immediately. This I was told was due to the cold weather, the weather was absolutely dire so I can well believe it.

The breakfast consisted of crusty bread rolls, ham/cheese/jam, coffee and juice. It was brought to the table and was very tasty.

Getting around without the car is easy enough, about a 10 minute walk to Westende Bad coastal tram stop. The hotel is in a lovely area, and found it was good for a short stay, we were made to feel very welcome

We stayed here for one night in August 2013, breaking up our journey home and to visit Plopsaland in De Panne. Hotels can be quite expensive so we booked this hotel as it was easier on the wallet.

The hotel is clean and tidy, and the family room had lots of space, and parking was on-site which really helped. Breakfast was nice with fresh bread, meats, cheese and croissants.

The beach was very pretty, and we wished we had spent more time there, rather than in Nieuwpoort, and so we are planning to go back again next year.

Really enjoyed my stay here. Rooms are quite basic but very clean and include all you need. The rooms have balconies overlooking beautiful gardens. The breakfast was continental and everything was fresh and very tasty. There was a small bar but the one evening I went there it was closed. Staff are very friendly and go out of their way to assist. I would return here for a second visit.

Booked 3 rooms at this hotel. Tried to amend booking to 2 rooms. This was completely impossible to do. The whole booking got cancelled. Despite being informed that I would not be charged due to the error in cancelling the booking, the hotel went ahead and charged anyway. It took several weeks to get the money returned with the help of my credit card company and throughout the hotel did not answer their phone or respond to messages. I found another hotel to stay that was very pleasant and I am so glad now that I did not end up at the Westendia.

This is very basic hotel/motel.
It could do with some TLC. There are a large number of hotels in this area so possible there are better for the same price, 65 euros per room including a simple breakfast.
Only stayed one night which was enough.

Visitors who are looking for fairly low priced accommodation might well pass by this hotel in favour of one of the cheapie chains, but they could be making a mistake.
The Westendia is a small but comfortable budget hotel in a quiet back road away from the busy main road through Westende.

We received a friendly welcome and a free first beer in the tiny bar. There is no restaurant but the owner was happy to recommend some places that were open - beware of Wednesdays when a lot of restaurants are shut out of peak season. We found a good dinner a short distance away on recommendation and on other days we would have been spoiled for choice.

There is the main building then a small one storey annexe block. It has off road parking although maybe not enough for all of its rooms - there is on street parking all around within a few yards.

The rooms are basic but comfortable and spotlessly clean with tiled floors throughout. My 'queen size' bed was actually two singles pushed together. The beds were only held together with the bottom sheet which was not satisfactory for a bed on castors with a hard floor - my friend who had a separate room is a very large person and managed to fall between the two beds during the night which could have been dangerous. Somehow he managed to extricate himself without help or embarrassment but did have a few bruises.

I don't think there is a lift for the small main building and definitely not for the annexe upper rooms.

I was unable to open the sliding door to the terrace without help from the owner and then had to leave it open all night which I felt was a bit insecure. The alternative would have been unbearably hot with only a small window at the other end of the room. The ground floor rooms would benefit from net/voile curtains for some privacy during daylight hours and they would also keep out flying insects in the summer.

There was a cot in my room and a child's bed might be possible in other rooms.

You won't find a lot of free toiletries here so bring your own. Good water pressure and hot water in the shower but a safety rubber mat is needed to prevent slips please.

There is free wi-fi and flat screen TV showing mostly Belgian and French channels but you can get BBC 1 and 2 and news channels like CNN.

Breakfast was included in our deal through Booking.com and with fresh and tasty breads, ham and cheese and croissants. We could have had boiled eggs too.

Only a few little things to prevent a top rating and well worth consideration.

The owner is an uncouth, angry and dishonest man. I messaged him beforehand that we are unvaccinated, he ignored the message, then took our money and when we arrived he told us that we could not stay and that he would not refund the money.

This hotel has NO smoking rooms, it has free parking and free Wifi breakfast is included with the price however while we were at the hotel breakfast did not start until 8.30am and as we had to leave earlier so we did not have breakfast. when we arrived are room was inside the main part of the hotel I asked if we could have and outside room and was told NO, the room was large and clean but that's all no A/C tea/coffee it did have a fridge, only two electric plug sockets one had the television so in effect only one in the room, bathroom small, at what we paid 80 Euros for the night it was not worth it, would we stay again NO

When we arrived the manager seemed rather surly and not particularly welcoming. Even when I paid I didn't get a thank you out of him. The room needs a lot of TLC. The shower bracket was non existant so you had to hold the shower while you had one. On the plus side the continental breakfast was nice.
