At RMH Lopud Lafodia, guests often compliment the hotel's idyllic location and pristine cleanliness, with rooms offering spectacular views and a serene atmosphere that many find relaxing. While the range of amenities, including a beach and spa, are typically well-received, some guests feel that the value proposition is diminished by costly beverages and mediocre dining experiences. The service quality receives mixed feedback, with praise for attentive staff contrasting with reports of unresponsiveness. Room comfort is marred by non-adjustable air conditioning and occasional maintenance issues.

This really was the perfect holiday for our family on the idyllic island of Lopud. A stunning hotel set in a beautiful bay with small bars and restaurants, where one could spend all day watching the boats drift in and out across the islands.
Our rooms had beautiful views of the bay and were cleaned regularly with fresh towels whenever we needed them.
We chose to eat half board in the hotel because I am Coeliac, and I feel more secure if I know that the chefs understand my requirement to eat Gluten Free. They could not have been more helpful. We really enjoyed the food and there was enough variety for our family at breakfast and dinner in the evening. Everything was fresh and beautifully prepared. The staff provided gluten free breakfast cereals and cakes and bread. Marco very kindly cooked me gluten free pasta for the first couple of evenings while we established what I could eat, and Matija was amazingly helpful in explaining the ingredients in all the dishes. Matija then went above and beyond by making me wonderful gluten free desserts and making sure that I had plenty of choice every day. Matija could not have done more to support me and I felt so well looked after. Thank you.
Marco was our excellent yorkshire waiter and Tihomir our helpful concierge, both warm and friendly.
The best aspect of our holiday was the fact that there was always shade and complimentary sunbeds on the beach, and plenty of shade and sunbeds around the pool, in July. This meant that we could move seamlessly between the pool and the beach every day without any stress. We never felt that we had to establish ourselves or book sunbeds for the day, which is wonderful when our teenagers wanted to wander off and be independent, or because some family members prefer the beach or the pool. We established a routine of pool in the morning, beach in the afternoon and a last dip in the pool before dinner. And there were always free sunbeds and shade to flop down on everywhere. It never felt busy.
As a family we enjoyed two days in Dubrovnik, which were hot but worth it, to explore the historic buildings and churches. And we took the 3 island boat trip for a day which was an absolute high light of our holiday. There are also beautiful walks around the island which are easy to follow.
Thank you to Ivana on the front desk who organised for a colleague to pick up some medication for my son from Dubrovnik. This was also helpful and kind.
Croatia is unspoilt, charming and beautiful and this has been one of our favourite family holidays. We would definitely return to a wonderful hotel.

I am writing this while still in the hotel and I wish to write an honest review. The island is a paradise and the motto is to spend your time here in a slow paced lifestyle. The hotel offers amazing views and so far the staff has been helpful in providing us a great experience. Of course there are always things that could be improved, but overall breakfast is good and food is replaced quickly when something is over. Same thing for tables being cleaned and organised in no time. Our room has been cleaned and replenished with amenities and towels every day. The bar staff at the beach made us wonderful mojitos and pina coladas.
The food from the a la carte restaurant La Baja is very top quality so as the restaurants in the harbour which we have mostly tried all of them by now. The fish is the freshest and wines incredible.
We have reserved the sun loungers when booking and paid more for this because we love being in the beach and we’re not bothered by pools. This is very clear so if one wishes to have a secure spot in the beach I would suggest doing the same. We haven’t done half board so can’t comment on buffet meal in the evening, but if you’re a foodie like us don’t do half board and dine in the amazing restaurants nearby for a wonderful experience and breathtaking sunsets. Lastly, I never expect hospitality staff to be my servants, I applaud them for doing their best and working away long hours, especially in these times. Thank you to all Lafodia staff, Teresa (loved the events), Milos (made me Pina Coladas even though it wasn’t on the menu) and the concierge lady who gave us helpful tips for our day out in Dubrovnik.

Well can I just firstly say, thank you for all you are doing for the guests during this hard time. We arrived by boat by a lovely local guy, who helped us lift the luggage up and the boat ride was heaven. We was greeted by a lovely receptionist, offering a complimentary drink. Straight up to are beautiful room, which may I add the views are out of this world and the room is cleaned to a very high standard daily so thank you. Breakfast is lovely, we are here on half board and we are loving every second of the holiday. Dinner is absolutely delicious, honestly can't fault it, the staff are amazing at seeing to the guests and making sure they have everything they desire. We've been using the pool and it's so nice and cool, cleaned regularly with a cute little robot cleaner 🤖 We had trouble with the electric but it was the whole building, was sorted out straight away so thank you for that. Arrived to are room, with fresh fruit and a very delicious drink. The downstairs bar does need to be stocked up a bit more, but other than that the drinks are very nice. I'm just happy and grateful to even have a holiday, beautiful areas to walk. The locals so kind and friendly, like any hotel needs a little tlc here and there but what do you expect with Covid. Thank you so much for making are holiday amazing and thank you to the hard working staff putting there lifes at risk daily to provide for us. You are all amazing and deserve the world 🤗

We arrived at 11am after a 6am Tui flight to be told that our room would not be ready till 3pm at earliest. Being unable to shower or change ruined our first day, we finally got room at 6pm. The buffet dinner was awful, limited choice poor quality and cold, no water readily available and we were not offered a drink until we had finished our meal. We complained and were offered lunch or dinner in La Baja beach bar as an alternative. Food there was better but service terrible, ignored by waiter who avoids eye contact and long wait to eat everyday.
Toilets frequently had no soap or toilet paper, the beach one, also used by La Baja diners was always filthy, soap dispenser broken and took over a day to fix after I complained to mgr. I ended up washing my hands in gents many times! Day trippers from boats also used this toilet and beach adding to the issues.
All the sunbeds in front row on beach, on decking, gazebos, sofa beds were reserved by hotel for guests in suites. The ones left were taken by 8am. No beach towels often till 11am, tables on beach not cleaned.
Rooms not made up, issues with air con, so many unhappy guests. We reported all our issues to the manager who blamed his staff. Hotel is clearly understaffed and not able to cope with influx of guests. It is a beautiful hotel and could be 5* with the correct measures but at the moment it is lacking in so many areas and far from its 4* rating

Dear Nomad491337; Thank you for being our guest and for taking the ime to give us feedback on your experience with us. We are sorry you were not able to enter your room until so late. This delay is due to many guests not leaving their room as per our check out time. We are glad that liked the food at La Baja better, although I must say that the products used are the same for entire hotel and employees preparing the dishes are the same. This year we only realized late in the season that travel restrictions would be lifted enough for us to welcome our guests back to Lafodia. As soon as we got the green light we desperately wanted to open our doors and welcome holidaymakers and travelers from around the world, some for their first visit and others coming back to a place they love. We have had to recruit more new team members than usual that are also new to our working ways, environment and regular visitors. This team has enabled us to open and welcome you this year which we are very thankful for. Our training programme is bringing them up to speed as quickly as possible. We hope to be able to welcome you again in the future and show you that we are able to offer high class service. Warm regards from Lopud. Giuseppe Nardiello Director of Rooms Division

What an absolute dump this place is, avoid at all costs!!! The setting and area is lovely but can’t say the same for the hotel. We arrived at 12:00pm to be told our room won’t be ready till 3:30pm!! Just what you want to hear when you have been travelling for hours on end with no sleep. The next day we went down to the ‘private beach’ which is lovely, but good luck getting a bed. Most of them are reserved already for people who pay for the ‘nicer rooms’ not fair at all. Most of the sunbeds have no cushions so your just laying on plastic all day on a ‘4 star holiday’ more like 1 star. The pool/beach boy is incredibly miserable and rude, he wants sacking, I went to get some towels off him at 9:30am to be told there is no towels, and to wait another hour.. which we did, to be told there is still no towels, he couldn’t of cared less and made me feel like I was being a nuisance. So we have just had to use our room towels, which isn’t ideal. The room cleaning isn’t great either, we used the tea bags and sugar in the room thinking we will get some more when the room gets cleaned, but no you don’t, the bins haven’t been emptied, sometimes we wouldn’t even get clean towels, and one day our room was even cleaned!!! The hot water in the rooms don’t work properly.
The food is disgusting hardly even edible, you have to que for about 30 minutes just to get a cup of tea. The dinner in the evening is disgusting as well so we have had to go out most nights so we can have an enjoyable meal, the restaurants on the island are lovely so would definitely recommend those.
The bar/restaurant area by the pool are completely useless too.. we were ignored for 45 minutes one day not being served, we had to get up and leave and go in the village for food. Then we enquired about the ferry to go to Dubrovnik at reception which they were completely unhelpful about, we was told to get the boat from our hotel, so we waited and waited to only find out you don’t get the boat from the hotel you go from the town, so missed it and the next one wasn’t for another 3 hours and we had a Covid tests booked in Dubrovnik so we can come home, but our appointment was missed, I was telling the hotel to see if we can get another way there but they couldn’t of cared less, completely useless and unhelpful. Avoid this place at all costs, this place is definitely not 4 star, all the staff need sacking they are rude, unhelpful, miserable useless bunch of people.

Stunning views, on a beautiful island.
Room was comfortable and a decent size with sea views from the balcony.
Infinity pool and area was lovely but no umbrella’s meant the beach was our preferred location for the day. The beach was also very busy due to being there in July and a lot of day trip boats arriving at the pier.

Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Food in the buffet was ok but the village harbour was only 10 mins away with a large variety of restaurants to pick from.

The cost of beer was very high throughout Dubrovnik so cant moan the hotel prices were similar.

Where to begin? This hotel could have been amazing, however it was let down on a few levels. We arrived by private transfer and the arrival was brilliant (by speed boat), we had booked the Imperial suite as there were 3 of us and it offered a separate bedroom. However, when we booked online it showed on the website we would receive soft drinks, a bottle of wine and fresh basket of fruit. none of these items were in the room when we arrived. We notified reception but did not receive them until the end of the week when we asked again and was told that they no longer offer these items on arrival for our room. The room was maintained well throughout the week but was let down by not getting fresh towels when we had used them and lack of toilet rolls, tea and milk.
The hotel advertises a spa and outdoor gym, both were very disappointing. The spa had a whirlpool with jets, but only 1 jet worked, we asked reception if they were going to be fixed and she did not know. The shower by the whirlpool was boiling hot! The outdoor jacuzzi's were filled with dirt and droppings from the trees (no water).
The gym had a couple of machines which were old and in need of replacing, some hand weights and a very small mat which could not be used for doing any exercises on. There were also weeds all around (very different to the photo on the website),
The pool area was lovely but there were no umbrellas to relax under while sunbathing. The hotel itself needs a good re-paint and freshening up.
The restaurants tried hard to offer good food but it was disappointing and needs a rethink, perhaps a smaller menu but better quality and could be changed a bit more. The breakfast was very disappointing, coffee was horrible and trying to make toast was a long process. New toasters would be good,
Some of the staff were lovely and helpful but others were uninterested and didn't seem to know the hotel layout at all.
There is NO tennis court on site, we were told there is a local one but when we eventually found it, it was locked.
Lopud island is a lovely, traffic free island the and sea is beautifully clear and warm and the people are very friendly.
This hotel needs some TLC and it could be wonderful.

My wife and I have just returned from a week at the Lafodia and slightly disappointed.

We chose the hotel for my 60th birthday as it was one of the luxe collection and billed as a wellness retreat. We did not expect to have families playing football around the small pool area. Not relaxing hanging on to our overpriced drinks waiting for the ball to be kicked in our direction. We were not the only ones who retested to the hotels beach.

The hotel itself was stunning and the hotel with private beach we could not fault. The staff were friendly and a special mention to the young lady with long hair in the pool bar who stood out from the rest. Sorry I missed her name but that's what happens when you reach 60. I felt she genuinely cared about us and made us feel welcome.

There was little information when we checked in so embarrassed by turning up at the upgraded restaurant. They kindly invited us to stay but it did not feel right. People mentioned the welcome fizz but ours was half a whiskey glass of fizzy water.

The room was nice but let down by the fact our TV did not work for the full week. There appeared to be some signal issues. We were promised it would be repaired. Room service was better towards the end of the week by which time we had gone to the shop to buy our own milk and coffee.

We stayed bed and breakfast and the breakfast was awful. We skipped a couple of days as we could not face it. Watered down juice cold eggs sausage and bacon. I have had much better breakfast in 3 star hotels. Corridors smelt of cigarette smoke and we have to agree it can be noisy if you get people running across floors above. The room allocation was strange as they stuck a screaming baby in the next room to us on my birthday when the hotel was two thirds empty. We felt we were paying a premium rate and could not watch TV in the room sit on our balcony or around the pool.

One final concern is the policy of pre authorization of credit cards. A customers card should never be taken from their sight. This is a security risk and made me feel anxious.

On the whole nice hotel, five star setting, five star prices and a poor breakfast. Pretty much in line with other genuine reviews

If you want a beautiful relaxing place to spent your holidays then Lopud is amazing! Please came and visit it! But if you are planning to stay in the Lafodia Hotel then please be aware. This is not by any means a 4* hotel- it could potentially be even 5*! The location is great , the views are just amazing but the service of the hotel awful! I have been here one week with my family and it was very annoying to have to sort out problem after problem all the day long. We booked half board so the dinner was included and when we arrived the first night I couldn’t believe my eyes! Inedible food, not many selection and lack of quantity. We complained and were offered a fair solution so that was good. The hotel is clearly understaffed and the director is trying to sort out all the problems of the guests but there is still a long way to go. They do not clean the rooms. Ours was cleaned once and the towels changed twice! Yes in a 4* hotel! The corridors and surrounds haven’t been cleaned either and their Covid precautions do not exist. The hotel is very dirty and the pool is unmanaged. There aren’t enough sun loungers around it either. The beach is lovely but be aware the sun loungers are reserved for people with superior rooms and if you want to get some be prepared to go down at 6:30 in the morning. The staff is inexperience, unprofessional and with a miserable attitude. Dario at the Baja Bar is rude and very unprofessional. If you want to eat at this bar by the beach you will not be acknowledged for a long time, the staff just don’t care. A few members of the staff were lovely but the rest are uninterested. Also, some of the facilities are closed-the bar at the pool and the restaurant are closed. There isn’t entertainment and you cannot check in before 3 pm!!!
We will definitely come back to Lopud but we will not stay at the Lafodia Hotel here for sure.

Dear IMCC76; Thank you for staying at Lafodia Sea Resort and for appreciating our location. We are receiving your feedback very seriously and constructively. This year due to the pandemic, we only realized late in the season that travel restrictions would be lifted enough for us to welcome our guests back to Lafodia. When we started our recruitment process, many of our experienced team members were no longer available. This has meant we have had to recruit more new team members than usual that are also new to our working ways, environment and regular visitors. This team has enabled us to open and welcome you this year which we are very thankful for. Our training programme is bringing them up to speed as quickly as possible. We have acknowledged your comment regarding the service at La Baja and the rooms. Rest assured that corrections will be made to avoid the same from happening in the future. We hope that you will change your mind and stay with us again when in Lopud. Warmest regards. Giuseppe Nardiello Director of Rooms Division

Ok let’s start with the positives. Lopud is a lovely location, the water is crystal clear and amazing for a swim anytime of day. The short walk into the small town is great and there’s enough decent restaurants to dine at a different one every day for a week.

Now to the hotel…..

The hotel in general is ragged around the edges with little upkeep.

Cleaners walk in even if there’s a do not disturb at 8.45am every morning. Literally every day even after we told them not to.

Spa jacuzzis out of action full of leaves.

“Gym” area is awful, multi-function equipment broken with limited equipment.

Boat trips drop big groups straight onto the “idyllic beach” twice per day.

Seal on the shower broken leaking water into the room.

Bars and restaurants listed on the hotel weren’t open.

The in room safe didn’t work.

Breakfast was below average, broken coffee machines, limited choice no options for omelettes etc.

Beach towels are not replaced even if you ask - beach staff say it’s housekeeping, housekeeping do nothing with it apart from the very last day when we returned from the beach to fresh towels we will never use!

Lights in the room kept failing - the key slot to get power didn’t seem to work properly maintenance came and didn’t really sort anything.

The staff are courteous and helpful but there’s obviously been little investment in the facilities. If you come expecting luxury please don’t be fooled. If it’s an “ok” mid to low end hotel in a lovely resort then this is right. The marketing is one of a high end hotel selling a “luxury” experience. It definitely doesn’t deliver. I will return to lopud as the resort is idyllic but will rent an appt and know what I’m getting.

Don’t be fooled into paying over the odds for a below average hotel.
