Farm Bed and Breakfast

Thank you for choosing the Farm Bed and Breakfast Inn in beautiful Seward, Alaska. The Farm Bed and Breakfast was originally a "truck farm", its previous owners having raised and sold vegetables, rhubarb, strawberries, and raspberries. It was purchased by the Hooglands in 1968 as weekend retreat, and for a few years the garden continued; a pet goat, couple of pigs, ducks, and chickens were added. The place became known locally as "Hoogland's Farm", so when it became a bed a breakfast, 'The Farm' seemed an appropriate name. The farm house, built in the 1920's, was renovated in 1988 and became a bed and breakfast in 1989. Over the next few seasons, the cottages, bungalow, and kitchenettes were added. The idea of a bed and breakfast was Jack's, and for several years he was an integral part of the day-to-day operation: serving breakfast, telling tall tales, and overseeing all aspects of the B & B. However, because of failing health the last few years, these duties have been assumed in part by his wife Joanne, daughter Carol, son Ricky, sister-in-law Jeanette, and various nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren. Our goal is to provide a quiet, restful place to stay in a natural setting for a moderate price. The Farm is large enough for small tour groups and small enough for the independent traveler. Children and seniors are welcome. We have a variety of rooms like cottages with private baths, kitchenettes, and cozy rooms in the main house. If you find your way to beautiful Seward, Alaska, please consider stopping by the Farm...

Stayed at the farm. Hosts were very accommodating. It’s not a 5 star type of hotel. Make sure to bring your own toothpaste, shampoo, etc. For the price you cannot beat the stay if you are traveling to Seward. I think it’s the best spot to stay considering downtown really isn’t

We stayed in the King room & the cottage. The rooms were basic, clean and comfortable. Good value for money. The breakfast was simple (instant oatmeal,cereal,juice,coffee/tea). The hosts were extremely friendly and warm people. Check in process was very smooth and comfortable.

we slept in the Kitchenette room, the space was good (large space, large kitchen, clean) but might need a bit "refreshment" in style, the hosts were very welcoming and lovely. breakfast was nice and good (continental) wifi was not really working in the room, only in parking lot

Well...we had an amazing visit to Seward and really did enjoy our stay at the farm bed and breakfast, but done expect luxury! It was run down but the inside of the cabin was clean. I don't want to sound harsh, but also want to be honest, so our first impression was, "this can't

It's a great way to save money without rushing it. Everything you need (shower /towels) is high quality but this isn't your romantic B&B. They were super helpful and accommodating. Major con was that the room smelled of smoke despite the "no puffin" sign
