Fantastic hotel with staff that actually care about the customers.
We stayed here for 14 nights from 22/05-05/06 and can honestly say that this is one of the cleanest and friendliest hotels I have ever stayed at and I have been away over 20+ times.
On arrival we were met by a guest relations member of staff who went through the formalities with us before taking us on a guided tour of the complex. We were then shown to our room which was perfectly located no 74 I believe it was which was between the pools, sea and all other amenities.
The restaurant staff Michalis Fourakis and Maria Vidali especially bent over backwards to look after us and knew our drinks orders within a day or so of us being there which is always helpful to have that personal touch. They were also very accommodating to our 3 year old twins teaching them Greek and offering sweets. The food was very tasty however can be quite repetitive which is why you expect in an all inclusive resort for 2 weeks but there was always something for us to eat. I was especially happy with the ribs and gyros.
The animation team were also very accommodating to the little ones but were not pushy getting you to join in with everything. Big shout out to the Bulgarian guy sorry cannot remember his name.
We had a walk into the local town of sissi which offers shopping as well as bars and supermarkets. This was handy as the hotel supermarket was selling sun tan lotion for €25 a bottle.
The a la carte restaurant consisted of a bar with a few snacks however we normally made our way to the restaurant so this did not affect us.
Many branded alcoholic beverages are available such as Bombay sapphire and Havana rum which is a nice change and normally an added charge.
The only downsides to this hotel is that it is advertised as being 45 mins from the airport but both ways we were on the coach for over 2 hours which was not ideal and also I ended up with an ear infection from the pool 3 days into the 2 week stay.
I would however recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing time away whether it be couples, families or groups. This is every after we got stuck on the tarmac at Birmingham airport for 2 hours as there was no staff to get us off of the plane due to the strikes/ shortage of staff. 4*+ rating.
We also advised the hotel that it was our anniversary whilst we were away and were greeted with a cake and bottle of bubbly

Service and many aspects of the hotel were great but there were also some parts that were lacking. Overall we enjoyed our stay though but may try a different hotel next time.

Rooms: clean and tidy but dated, not really a 4 star standard, plain white with 90s furniture and not even any art to spruce the look up. Critical point, rooms do not have wifi - in an age where youth hostels have free wifi, this is a huge oversight. The only free wifi is in public areas and on rainy days people are sat on the sofas.

Hotel and amenities: the beach is lovely and secluded and a highlight of the hotel. Overall the hotel is small so apart from the beach, pool and bar. The spa was closed due to Covid. There is also a tennis court which is well maintained and rather beautiful surrounded by plants.

Food and drink: for only having a single restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner it was decent. For each meal there was enough variety and it was only by day 6 we felt it was getting repetitive. It is a shame that there are no theme nights which would have made it more exciting. The drinks in the all inclusive were great and the variety was good. Cocktails were actually decent although during the day they are only served in plastic cups.

Lastly the service was great. The staff were helpful and perhaps hampered by a dated hotel. You should note the hotel is 30 mins walk away from Sissi the nearest town so you do need taxis to get anywhere else or an hour to get to Malia.

A wonderful 5 night break to celebrate friends delayed 50th!
Staff are AMAZING! Helpful, friendly and personable.
Food is delicious and such a variety to choose from! Loved my fresh omelette for breakfast!
Everything within easy reach, beach, beach bar, pool, restaurant although you do have to use a few steps.
The reason I gave 4 stars not 5 are minor niggles,
In the evening there is only one bar open, you do get a queue although staff super efficient. Also if you are watching show in amphitheatre you have to walk up and downstairs with glasses, not ideal. Tbf the bar staff would often offer to carry tray but we felt bad that it meant the bar lost a body.
There was a queue for evening meal especially if you wanted to sit on the terrace, to be fair it did keep moving and we just ate later (after 8) when quieter.
Water bottles - We were left 2 bottles in fridge on arrival and had to keep these and refill from water filter over our stay. I didn’t take washing liquid so couldn’t clean my bottle everyday, after water has sat in heat etc even though emptied, not for me. Would prefer smaller fresh bottles every day. I did just have cups of water so not a biggy a personal preference.
Small negatives that certainly didn’t spoil our fantastic break and I would return .

Wow what a hotel … the staff at this hotel couldn’t do enough to help us they went above a beyond what we expected especially the following who were superb.

Rosemary
Crisoula
Ioanna
Antonis
Anna
Alex
Chrysa
Alexandros

We can’t thank them enough they made our holiday complete. We had a great send off with plenty of hugs which we didn’t expect.

A very clean hotel superb selections of food always something different plenty of choices. The drinks were superb best “Pina Colada ever. Bar staff were great. I suggest they could open the bottom bar in the evening too which could help along with some of the rooms could be up updated ( but you are not in your room a lot ) but that’s our only criticism.

It has its own private beach with life guard ( they also sweep it everyday and clean down sun loungers) which is lovely plenty of sun loungers so there’s no rush to put your towels out like some hotels I fact they don’t allow it. Towels are provided so you don’t have to bring any from home as are hairdryers in rooms. The sea is quite stoney but clear and superb for snorkelling and with the proper shoes very accessible.

The hotel is not far from Sissi a lovely original Greek village which has a lovely harbour lovely quality shops and bars not spoilt by commercialism. You can walk to it but also the hotel will ring a taxi for you.

If you want a relaxed holiday with great staff who can’t do enough for you, excellent food and drink then you can’t go wrong with this hotel … we loved it and would recommend it to anyone.

Great sunsets too.

Thank you staff at the Grecotel Mali Palace you were superb.

We stayed almost two week at Meli Palace and it’s hard to find superlatives to describe the holidays. The landscape is so beautiful with a great beach and view on the mountains, the food is excellent with lots of local specialities every day and super drinks (thank you Niko!) which is rarely the case in an all inclusive hotel. From the hotel you can walk to Sissi a nice little village nearby and go to a sand beach in Malia (only 20 minutes walk on the other side). There is a ping pong table at the hotel and free kayaks on the beach and the life guard is so great, he provided a lot of informations. All the staff of the hotel is no nice and helpful, we were so well received. A special thanks to Michallis, Irene and Svetlana for their kindness. And finally a very good entertainment team with team leader Andreas, always full of energy and smile. Thank you everyone

It’s taken me a while to review this hotel but I wanted to make sure I did, as we had a brilliant fortnight here at the end of July/start of August. I travelled with my husband and two children (age 9 and 11). The whole site is just beautiful. The view from the restaurant and terrace is amazing, especially when the sun goes down. The beach is not private but it may as well be as it doesn’t lead anywhere, so no one comes onto the beach except hotel guests. It always has plenty of sun beds, whatever time of day and these can be pulled onto the grassy area or left on the sand, depending on how near the sea you want to be. The pool is a little busier and some days we were able to get sun beds as late as 9.30am, yet there were a couple of days where they were all taken by 7.30am. It never worried us though as we knew we’d get beds on the beach (even though we are generally pool people). The site feels so safe for the children to wander around by themselves as the hotel is at the end of a long drive, and is spacious yet compact too in terms of never being far from your room.

The food was fantastic. Always different options and something for everyone. Proper honey dripping from a hive (I can’t think of the proper name!) at breakfast. The main man on the restaurant was so welcoming and always chatted to my son, challenging him to finish his Rubix cube (still not managed it!) The staff in general were just so fantastic, always so hardworking and helpful. My son was being silly one evening and ended up throwing his flop flop in the splash pool by accident and the lovely lady at the downstairs bar hooked it out for him. So kind.

The evening entertainment was the same as any similar resort, some people expect too much, we enjoyed it.

Some evening lights by the table tennis/kids play area would be a great addition if I were to change anything. Plus some extra tables on the top terrace by the restaurant as these were often full of an evening. I’d also really like these tables separated into non smoking and smoking. I really can’t believe how many people still smoke.

The local village of Sissi was walkable but no proper pavement so a bit uncomfortable walking back in the dark. Shame, but obviously no reflection on the hotel and plenty of people got cabs there and back instead if they wanted a change of scenery.

Thanks Meli Palce, you made our summer! We would definitely return, however my daughter is now 12 and this hotel considers that as an adult, so we could no longer afford to return due to needing two rooms (according to booking pages anyway, personally we’d be fine with the accommodation we had this year). Highly recommend.

We have just returned from a family holiday with our 2 kids, aged 11 and 8.

We had a fab time at Meli Palace. All the staff are hardworking, friendly and make this place as good as it is.

The daytime activities for kids and adults were great and my older son enjoyed it particularly, thank you in particular to Nick for making his holiday so much fun.

The evening entertainment was abit hit and miss and a guideline on the board as to the estimated time duration of each evening act would’ve been useful to plan ahead as some acts were much shorter than others.

The food and drinks in the all inclusive package is amazing, we were spoilt for choice. There was plenty of choice for kids if you’ve got picky eaters, pancakes for breakfast, chips, pasta and a wide variety of salad, veg and fruit.

The Prosecco was also of good quality which was a nice surprise. The A la carte evening we booked for one night was delicious and such a nice change to the main restaurant with amazing sunset views. We were there for about 2 hours and it was very relaxing.

The hotel rooms themselves could do with some new furniture and storage units and the bathroom was very basic and in need of a refit, however the shower was powerful which was the most important thing.

I found the bed comfortable, however the pillows were quite thick on arrival, we were kindly given some thinner ones when we mentioned it to reception which we very comfortable.

The hotel grounds and rooms are spotless and the cleaners were amazing and made our room clean and tidy every day.

This place had such a chilled, friendly vibe which makes is so unique and we hope to visit again.

In early June stayed in this hotel for the second time . It is situated on its own about a 30 minute walk from the fishing village of Sissi and about an hours coach journey from the airport . The hotel grounds are quite spacious and it has its own sandy beach although it is a bit stoney at the water edge so you really need to wear some rubber shoes which are sold in the hotels shop. The main pool is a fair size and the is also a small children's pool. The hotel rooms are fairly basic but are kept very clean at all times. The main restaurant serves a good selection of hot and cold food and during my weeks stay for lunch or evening meal I didn’t have the same meal twice. The restaurant staff are very friendly and attentive to your needs and bring you your drinks but it’s a buffet for the food. I had Christos most of the time looking after my drink needs and he was brilliant. In fact all the staff at the hotel are very helpful and friendly. I have been to quite a few hotels in Greece and I thought that the evening entertainment put on at this hotel was one of the best I have encountered. The lobby bar which is open in the evenings is quite small and as long as the weather is good it’s fine as everyone can sit outside on the terrace. The bartender is very friendly and soon remembers what your preferred drinks are . All in all this is a very nice laid back hotel where one can relax and I will definitely be making another visit

Our last visit was in 2017 and we came back this year. We felt very safe and comfortable because the Covid 19 safety measures were respected: use of masks indoors and gloves when taking the food. Even though the entertainment team had less members (because of the Covid restrictions) the program addressed families with children (clowns), dj for adults on Monday and Thursday and great exercise with Marianna during aqua gym and stepper classes. You can also play beach volleyball, table tennis, balls or only enjoy laying in the sun on the private beach or at the pool. Food was diverse and tasty with fresh ingredients. Staff is very nice and friendly. You can choose to rent a car and visit the neighborhood: Malia, Aghios Nikolaos, Heraklion or make a tour of Greek monasteries.

My family and I just returned from a fantastic stay at Grecotel Meli Palace. The trip started with a warm greeting and ended with a sad but equally warm goodbye.

The hotel is beautiful and clean-looking, with two open bars and a charming private beach that had a view of the sunset every evening. It is relatively small which makes it not too crowdy or overwhelming. Thus, a great place to get some rest.

Our room was clean and well taken care of every single day. The only issue we had was that the water in the shower often was ice cold. Personally, I didn't mind taking a cold shower after a hot day but can imagine this could bother someone.

The restaurant experience was a good one to remember. You got greeted by Michalis and Maria and led to a table, which first made you feel very welcome and at ease. Secondly, this made it less hectic to look for a table while also having to go for food. In general, there was a variety of food, hence there was food for everyone's liking.

In Grecotel, there's no time to be bored. Plenty of activities were happening during the day, keeping you entertained. I would like to especially thank the animator team. Myself, I'm not always one to participate in activities since I'm more of a reserved person but Denisa and Dominika, Kestutis, and Nick were so welcoming to come greet you every day and invite you to different activities, that it definitely made participating a lot easier. All of them always brought great excitement and never failed to create a good and comfortable atmosphere. Through these activities, I've met some amazing people, that I normally maybe not would have met.
Vitalina, one of the girls taking care of the children made sure to greet you every day even though you were not linked to Grecoland. This was always highly appreciated. Vivi, the girl working at the bar also deserves special praise. I don't think there was a day she didn't have a smile on her face. This only shows how warm-hearted these people are. The animators and staff being so welcoming made this stay unforgettable. Without them, the holiday wouldn't have been half as fun.

Overall we had a wonderful time. From being able to relax, play sports, be entertained, and meet some great people, this was a vacation I would definitely do over again.

You have to refill the water bottle. Sunbeds have cushions and are also free on the beach. I don’t recall paying any extra for anything whilst there

I don’t think it would be great for that age group, too many small children. Buffet was very good, just noisy
