Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Loved the hotel and the stay. Desk/Bar staff was informative at check in and fast as well as check out. Restaurant was good. Just about missed getting food as it was closing early. It had everything we needed on our adventures of southern iceland

Stayed here with my family to celebrate our mums 70th birthday. The hotel location was perfect for exploring the golden circle and the wake up call provided ensured we didn’t miss the northern lights. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and available 24/7 incase you needed anything. We stayed in a room with a private hot tub, however there were outdoor hot tubs and steam rooms available in the main area for everyone to use. The food at the restaurant was very good but didn’t have a huge choice, however there was also an evening buffet available for a set price. The buffet breakfast included in your stay had a good range of hot and continental foods and was great for filling up before you set off. As a travel agent I would recommend this hotel as an ideal location for exploring the sites of the golden circle. However as it’s a 2 hour drive to the airport so you would need to rent a car. I would suggest that you stay here for the first part of your visit to Iceland. Then look to stay closer to Reykjavík so you have a shorter drive to the blue lagoon, sky lagoon and the airport.

Clearly understaffed for the number of guests. 1. The allocated room for 2 was only made up for 1 (1 pillow, 1 towel, etc). Husband went to reception to be told to go help himself from the linen room. 2. Went to the bar at 6.30 pm to eat - only wanted a bar meal. Bar man said he was too busy to serve any more food at the bar and that we would have to eat in the restaurant. (Despite many of our group in the bar eating) However, restaurant were only doing a buffet and were already full, so Sent us back to the bar. Bar man eventually allowed us to order after much muttering to himself. 3. However, the worst was yet to come - breakfast. We arrived at 8am (breakfast served 7-10) - all tables were covered in dirty pots, nowhere to clear them to. There were no knives or coffee cups, and all of the hot food had gone. We left at 8.30 and none of the hot food had been replenished in that time. Had to use glasses for the coffee. No-one to complain to. When we checked out, we tried to mention what had happened, but the receptionist just said we are short staffed, with no apology. Why take so many bookings if you don't have any staff?

We loved the location, the little apartments that give the option to sleep 4, and the sauna and hot tubs! The restaurant was happening and the food was great. We also loved the breakfast spread included! Highly recommend!

Cold, Rude, Reception We arrived after a wonderful day, and Linda at reception sent our mood plummeting with her cold, disinterested and verging-on rude manner. She rattled off instructions in a monotone, and pointed us in the direction of our rooms. We couldn't find them , and returned to ask for help - and all she said was ,"They're there"! No offering to show the way, no explanation that there was a separate door to the studio rooms we had. Made us go around unnecessarily with all our luggage after a long day. On our entrance, she actually looked at the four of us , and said "Oh there are so many of you, I thought you were part of a group" - bizarre, to say the least. Linda should give up being in hospitality. Or she needs to take a course with Indian hotels and learn some soft skills. The rest of the staff were very kind and helpful, and the hotel was fine. It's just the reception that spoilt it for us. Another suggestion - please label the entrances to the rooms as leading to Even and Odd numbers to prevent confusion

Easy to find and had a lot of amenities. We didn't partake in the Sauna or hot tub because we had planned to in the evening, but the lighting was not good, so we bowed out. We were also unable to have the dinner buffet because we didn't have a reservation (didn't realize that we needed one) and were told that if we weren't part of a group, there was no room for us, so we ate in the bistro instead, which ended up being perfectly fine. I really thought the hallway for the Northern Lights viewing was neat, but unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperative, so we never got to use it.

Travelling on a five day Breathtaking Iceland holiday with Titan travel we stayed at the Stracta Hoel in Hella for two nights, this hotel is excellent, warm and welcoming with comfortable rooms on ground floor with everything you need tv,hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, bathroom with wet room. The breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice on the upper floor which you get to via stairs or lift, we enjoyed a lovely evening meal in the bar area, staff was very friendly and service was excellent, good housekeeping throughout the hotel, out in the grounds of the hotel you could enjoy the steam rooms or hot tubs, the hotel has a gift shop, and in a good location for walking out and around the area. I thoroughly enjoyed my two nights at this hotel would definitely recommend. With our guide Jonas and driver Darius we visited the eldhestar horse park, seljalandfoss & skogafoss waterfalls, village of vik, black sand beach, sea stacks, folk museum in skogar, unfortunately we didn’t get to see the northern lights, but all the other interesting places we visited made up for it.

The hotel for a 4 star is not very good and compared even with 3 star options in Iceland. The sauna when we were there was not switched on until 18.00 by which time the hotel is full and there is little chance to get in. The soup we had was cold at the restaurant. Breakfast is not well presented. The bacon for example is around 1000 rashers thrown into a trough. The scrambled eggs are also in a massive dish and left there all morning. My keycard did not work after the first night and my room was 250mts away from reception. I walked back to reception to ask for the key to be activated and she told me in a rude voice that check out is 11am. I explained that may be the case but we were staying in the hotel another night so check in was irrelevant to us.

We were on a bus tour with GJtravel and stayed here 2 nights. Since it was Oct. and chilly and rainy, I was looking foward to being inside a hotel and not having to wear coats etc. for meals. But here my room was outside, so each time we went for a meal it was coats and rainwear. Breakfast was very good BUT dinner was the same both nights which was a disappointment and just average. The buffet was a disappointment as well.
