What can I say about this place.... anyone who has been will know how fantastic this place is, they will also know that it's Sara & Darren that make it. Of course, the location and the feel of the place is fantastic, but these two...More
The most amazing places with the loveliest hosts. I can not recommend this place enough.
The food is incredible! As are the views, yurts, pool, dogs, atmosphere. Everything!!
Sara & Darren made our stay here even more amazing & couldn’t do enough for us.
From first meeting Sara at the airport I was instantly put at ease, and I tend to get quite anxious when meeting new people. We were exhausted from travelling, but her friendliness and talkativeness lifted my spirits. For reference, it takes about an hour via...More
Can I start by saying that I really didn’t want to write this review…
As a modern, earth-loving, animal-stroking, kinda guy, I naturally want to share all my great experiences with everyone.
However… as a modern, what do I like and how can I get...More
I love everything about Alora! especially the dogs! The atmosphere is always amazing, and i LOVE the yurts. Stayed at Alora at all their locations and love Darren And Sarah! 10/10 would love to return every year
We were in the top yurt (Cowhide bed) which was furthest up the hill and very private. The second one down is also very private. The third one with the round bed is quite near the house. Have a lovely time!

A few thoughts on this. Firstly Darren and Sara do have a car and seem happy to drive you and drop you off at most places, and the site is a little off the beaten track. Secondly sometimes they are out doing their own thing or acting as chauffeurs for other guests or the car breaks down. If you want to get out and about at your own pace a car is probably a good idea, as there will be no rush for anything nor will there be any difficulty if they are busy. That being said, if you can stand the walk down the hill and along the road to a bus stop near a shop about 25 minutes away (closer to an hour with bags), then you can get a pretty regular bus to Alora where there's a regular train running that will take you pretty much anywhere. Of course, if you want a more relaxed stay, don't really want to go too far, don't mind the driver maybe forgetting to put lights on late at night at the airport before getting into busy traffic, and possibly forgotten rubbish bags in the boot, then Darren and Sara are your chauffeurs.
