Our stay at the Hotel El Jardin Vertical was great. The location is ideal, close to the castle and other sites as well as to shops and restaurants. Our room was clean and comfortable, but the best part was that the entire hotel is available to guests, including sitting rooms looking over the canyon - a perfect place to read...

This hotel is recommended in Alistair Sawday's book. It has been beautifully restored and furnished and the food in the restaurant is very good indeed. The service was attentive. We booked the two-storey duplex room which was comfortable, with one wall comprising the rock face! One two drawbacks for this room - the shower-room is very small and there is...

El Jardin, in a quiet lane at the heart of old hilltop Vilafames, has been tastefully restored. Most rooms have wonderful distant views. The simple comfortable furnishings complement the old building. The interior designer-owner and her restaurant staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful -adding to the good feel of El Jardin. The food...

We prebooked a double at about 130 euros/night - expensive for this part of rural Spain. When we arrived at about 6 pm we were told our room had been given to someone else. Odd! The subtext was that somehow we were late. We were then told that we could have a superior room for an extra 20 euros/night. We...

After a little confusion on arrival we were able to get wifi working - though no English speaking staff when we arrived & it appeared quite quiet. There was a lady on reception the following morning who spoke English however. Vilafames where this hotel is located just off the main square at the top dictates the style of this hotel...

Vilafames is a pretty little town with narrow vertical streets. Approximately three quarters of an hour from the excitement of Valencia in one direction and the same time from the superb scenery of El Maestre to the north. El Jardin Vertical is charming. Elegantly furnished rooms and some of the best food we had this year in Spain. This is...

We saw the hotel in Alistair Sawdays book, found it easily and were delighted. Choice of rooms at different prices but wonderful view and very comfortable bed. Excellent food and service from Gloria and loved all the decor. We were the only guests but enjoyed our stay and would go back. Very pretty village and amazing art gallery, make sure...

Unusual building at the highest point of this little village. Pleasant room with air con and comfortable bed, owner of hotel was very friendly and attentive. Meal was really excellent, lovely little outside courtyard about 3 floors up so great views. Breakfast was plentiful but all guests were a bit squashed together in the dining room, plenty of space so...

We stopped off here overnight while driving to Southern Spain. It was out of season (December) but nonetheless a brilliant place to stay. Delicious food and wine in the restaurant and lovely hostess Gloria. we wished we were staying for longer.

Charming decoration in an old restored house. Only 9 bedrooms, I choose the one with a chimney, big room with a great view over the plain. Big bed and nice decoration. Gloria and the other woman attending are very kind. Gloria is an excellent cook, the food is absolutely delicious. The little town is very nice. Fresh air and nice...
