The staff were both friendly and helpful. We had a nice set meal which had been organised in advance and that was all dealt with very well. A nice breakfast selection although not enormous as one would expect from a small hotel. Plenty of parking. Attractive location and close to pretty village of Overstrand.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as part of a wedding party with our 14 month old. The hotel was ok, quaint with only 8 rooms and minimal staff. Not the facilities that we would be used to - no fridge or tea making facilities in the room, no bath so had to shower our 14 month old the best we could. Generally quite basic facilities throughout the hotel. Breakfast served daily but no chef on the first night as only a few of us staying at the hotel and I had to request sandwiches the next day for lunch as there wasn’t any other lunch service either. However nice sandwiches were delivered to our room so that was good. Quite a nice stay, wedding was great! But not a great hotel for facilities for smaller children.

I booked to stay at the hotel for work and have to admit it was the pictures that did it for me. I arrived at the hotel to be greated with an un staffed reception desk. Not a problem there are signs to press the bell, with two to choose from, which I did over the next 10 minutes. The sign also said if no replies please ring the number below, as I looked at my phone to do that I noticed there was no signal. After venturing around into the dining room, kitchen and bar, all apparently open but devoid of any customers at all. The night manager was very polite and attentive and evidently quite passionate about the hotel, showing us evrything in the room and the view. The room itself seemed very nice, with its features and decor matching the period of the cottage and giving the feel of a hidden cottage hotel, unlike the brightly lit, modern features in the bar and restaurant, which could frankly be in any travelodge in the country. The room had plenty of space and in the evening looked very clean and tidy, the matress was a bit springy but nothing that prevented a reasonable nights sleep. In the morning we noticed a bit more with the room, small spiders around the edge of the ceiling and dirty marks from what looked like a quite warn carpet. The curtains were ripped and torn, lamp shades missing and just some general ware on the room. I needed to be gone by 0830, so went down stairs at 0750, ready for breakfast starting at 0800.

A very quiet country hotel which is perfect if you're looking for a nice relaxing break. The venue is minimally staffed due to their being only 8 rooms and this place making its money (I assume) primarily from weddings and other functions and parties. If you are thinking of having your wedding here be advised room availability might be an issue but from what I understand, these things are booked very well in advance anyway. Couldn't really fault the cleanliness, décor, nor any other hotel facilities; clearly some money has been spent on the place recently as the bar area looks very modern and I couldn't help notice some carpet samples laying about in the managers' office too. Furthermore the décor is very high end and we were immensely impressed with the suites. My only gripe was the fact our bed was extremely creaky! Breakfast was fantastic - locally sourced produce went down a treat. The hotel is not far from Cromer (about 1½ miles) and the grounds are beautiful - also good for a bit of wildlife spotting. As people have pointed out - reception is tucked away and despite repeated requests to confirm our booking, we never got a reply prior to arrival - again I put this down to bare minimum staffing but the staff who were around during our stay were friendly, approachable and very accommodating. Point to note, around 10pm on the Saturday evening the main staff had left and there was a night porter looking after the place who clearly wasn't bar trained and had to make a note of our order to be later added to our bill - just in case there's some of you out there looking for a night cap... no fridges in room either in case you're thinking of bringing your own instead. And I'm not sure how far the nearest pub is... Overall though, a very pleasant stay and we had a fantastic time.

We stayed at this hotel in early June in the worst weather for months, however we were allocated an excellent Room which turned out to be the bridal suite no less. The manageress and all staff were most pleasant, helpful and accommodating at all times. For part of our stay we were the only guests there, probably due to the weather but this didn’t detract from the service provided. The rooms seem to be well appointed, clean , nicely decorated and interestingly, all named after members of the family who originally owned and lived in this lovely old country hotel. There was a varied menu and all meals were nicely prepared by Nick, the chef and well presented at the table.

Northrepps Cottage Country Hotel has a beautiful setting, and on a nice sunny day the garden is a perfect place to sit and enjoy coffee/drinks. Our room was spacious, and spotlessly clean. Nice comfy bed, high quality linen. Breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked to perfection. It's clear the hotel has had a lot of money spent on it in recent years; it's also clear it still needs more. The windows for example, need substantial repairs or replacing (it may be a listed building), and I fully appreciate it's impossible financially to do everything at once. BUT, there seem to be a number of things that could be tackled at minimal or reasonable cost – the bathroom radiator wouldn't turn off (this has been mentioned in a previous Trip Advisor review, but not repaired), the curtains in our room were frayed. A really nice hotel, with bags of potential, only partly fulfilled.

Went to the Northrepps for a wedding and stayed the night. Lovely Hotel in a great setting, with seating and tables outside. The room was clean and comfortable, and the full English breakfast was absolutely gorgeous.

When you first arrive at the hotel, the magnificence of the almost secluded forestry location is astounding. The slightly worn out hotel is located in the middle of sheltered grounds surrounded by green lawns. The welcome was warm and the check-in effecient though when we're were shown to the room we were a bit disappointed. The bed and room have a good capture of the Buxton family and their history, though the bed and furnishings are also stuck in the past offering little to no comfort. The carpets were not clean and dated but the bathroom was clean and spacious though without adequate ventilation and a noisy extractor that no one should have to sleep through (it could be turned off at the expense of a misty room). The bed was so uncomfortable that we ended up not sleeping utill 3am and ended up going for a dawn\sunrise walk around the neighbourhood golf course just to escape the room for a while. The food at the hotel is nice and the breakfast serves a good selection of local produce. Although the staff can be helpful there doesn't seem to be any discretion in their activities or daily workings, for example, via the open door of the managers office, guests are privy to all the issues relating to staffing scheduling issues, food supply issues and general admin chat etc. At night the hotel is a ghost town; although the website states to relax in the elegant Humphry's bar there is no one around in the bar area and it all seems a bit desolate. The hotel also has a "lock em up and leave them" policy where staff lock up and go home for the night (at least that's the way it seemed with no indication otherwise) with guests left fending for themselves in the event of issues or emergencies (mobile signal is quite desolate too). From a management perspective, the staff are unable to cope with modern booking websites; although I had paid in advance through a booking website and showed them my bank statement showing payment, I was amazed to be asked to to pay again and then claim a refund later afterwards when the manager was back. The staff member started to write my details down on a piece of paper claiming "don't worry I will keep it safe" until I and to get it off her. I had to use the booking site complaints to resolve the issue with no response or word of an acknowledgement or apology from the manager. In short, this is not a romantic getaway for couples, nor do the rooms offer any luxury getaway experience (even if the location is ideal for such a concept). This place needs an overhaul and the senior staff require basic lessons in basic hotel management. Shame! what a waste of a potentially beautiful historical building and location.

Came for a wedding and was very impressed with this lovely place. I asked if they had anything vegan for me to eat at the wedding reception and even though they hadn't been informed that there would be a someone who was vegan attending, they very quickly whipped me up an amazing and very delicious salad.
