Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Foxhills hotel, nestled close to both nature trails and city life, is often celebrated for its prime location and charming atmosphere. While the service is generally lauded for its friendliness and professionalism, there are occasional mentions of inconsistency. The hotel's amenities, including the spa and pools, receive positive remarks, though some guests suggest enhancements could be made.
However, opinions on value are mixed, with some reviewers pointing to overpriced rooms and unexpected charges. Cleanliness is a strong suit, but the rooms themselves are frequently flagged for needing updates.

Detailed Reviews
This was our third stay at Foxhills and rather different from the first two visits due to covid 19 restrictions, Hand gel was provided throughout the hotel and guests were reminded to socially distance. There was a maximum of 6 diners per table in the clubhouse and restaurant, which we found annoying as it meant our larger household had to eat at separate tables. Booking was necessary to use the swimming facilities and the sauna, steam rooms, squash courts and children's soft play area were all closed.
Our junior suite in the courtyard area was quiet, spacious and comfortable although the carpet was a little stained and the bathroom could have done with a little updating. Our towel rail would not work and although maintenance came and looked at this promptly it was not fixed during our 2 night stay. Because our towels were not drying, we requested additional ones and these were delivered very promptly. Tea, coffee, water and biscuits were provided in our room but we had no milk. The biscuits were also not replenished on day 2 of our stay. That said I'm sure if we had asked, these would have been provided. All staff we dealt with were efficient, helpful and courteous. Shampoo, shower gel and conditioner were provided although I found they didn't lather very well so wished I had taken my own.
We took part in a couple of exercise classes and the studio was modern bright and extremely well equipped. At the end of the class we were asked to wipe down our equipment with wipes/ spray which we didn't feel was appropriate. We felt this should have been carried out by a suitably trained hotel employee. The swimming pools were well heated, clean and pleasurable to swim in.
The first night we ate in Bar Nineteen and there was a fairly good choice of meals and all food was good for casual dining. On the second night we had a fixed price 3 course menu in the main restaurant and this was average but not of the standard I would have expected for £45 per person. Children's meals were massively overpriced.
The food provision during the daytime however was extremely disappointing and we were sorely tempted to go offsite to find something to eat. The main restaurant was only serving afternoon/ cream teas and Bar Nineteen had the same menu as we had eaten from the night before, which had a very limited choice of light lunch appropriate food. There were no options such as sandwiches, soup, sausage rolls etc. It was also extremely busy and this was the low light of our stay.
In summary, a lovely relaxing stay with a few minor hiccups which didn't detract from the overall experience.

Set amongst beautifully landscaped acres of lushness and tranquillity!
All COVID 19 protocols adhered to with spotless rooms and regularly sanitised pools and facilities.
The General Manager, Tej was quick and responsive to a minor issue we encountered previously. Backed up by the swift and courteous service provided by Nasko, who couldn’t have done more for us on our stay.
It was a most memorable experience for us especially whilst celebrating our 25th year wedding anniversary.
I would highly recommend Foxhills to anybody wishing a quiet and luxurious retreat set in a timelessly beautiful location. With 2 excellent restaurants to spoil yourself with as well as 3 pools including 2 outdoor heated ones, with jacuzzis !
Book in advance as Foxhills is ALWAYS busy!
Thanks again to Tej and Nasko. We will be back soon.😊

I recently stayed at Foxhills for a little getaway with my partner after not being able to go away this year. We really needed a break and what a break it was!
We checked in around 2.30pm with Scarlett who was so helpful, running through all of the new COVID procedures, there is hand sanitiser right by the door as you walk in. Scarlett handed us a pencil to use to sign in our registration and said we could keep it (I love stationary) and directed us to our room!
The rooms have a seal on the door noting that it has been disinfected and the only way to get in was the break that seal so we know our room was ready for us! Amazing as ever we had a room by the outdoor pool with great views of the tennis courts and I just love the beds!
We enjoyed a few drinks in X1X before we got changed for our spa session, we noticed that they had an employee there at the ready to wipe down tables and chairs as soon as guests had left which made us feel so safe sitting down! The waiters were super efficient and there was no trouble!
The spa is lovely as ever, having to book one hour times slots now to minimise the amount of guests in the facilities at each time so people aren’t fighting for a spot in the jacuzzi, we even had a go in the natural pool outside. If you need to wake up it’s probably the best place to go!
We then went back to our room to get ready for dinner following our spa sessions. Dinner was perfect, we were greeted at the front door by all staff, taken over to our tables and ordered our drinks and food (we had already looked at the menu before dinner and decided what we wanted earlier in the day from the QR codes we scanned when having our drinks! The food came out piping and it was so tasty, compliments to the chefs that night! Tables were spread out properly and all the staff working hard with their PPE on again making us feel really safe while we had dinner!
With everything going on in this world right now it’s amazing to be able to go away and feel safe and relaxed! A huge thank you to the Foxhills team for looking after to us, and doing such an amazing job in ensuring the safety of their staff and guests! We will most definitely be back soon!

Although the grounds are beautiful (the golf course, huge pine trees and house all look the part), the rooms are dated (we were in a junior suite) and the restaurant was shockingly bad... So much that our incorporated breakfast rate was refunded. Only one restaurant (19) was open during our stay and I would go as far to say that is possibly one of the poorest restaurant experiences I have had as an adult.
For a golf player, I imagine this is a good location and place to stay, however, otherwise you are not made to feel special, it feels very chain-y and cleanliness wise it was just not up to standard. When we arrived in the room, the bathroom had not been properly cleaned and the bed was very uncomfortable. The big duvet had a zip from top to bottom that was clearly distinguishable under the sheet and you could feel the ridge where the two mattresses had been put together.
We were grateful for the outside pool on a sunny day but otherwise, would not rush to ever book again.

We were a group of 4 (2 couples) that stayed here for one night on my 50th birthday and paid for bed, breakfast and dinner in advance.
Firstly, trying to book the hotel was very difficult as AMEX was not accepted online but when I called to pay by phone instead, I was told I couldn’t get the same deal by phone. In the end, I had to send proof of the online AMEX rejection before the hotel would allow me to pay by phone. Not a great start!!
I had hoped to receive a complimentary upgrade upon arrival, but didn’t which I was a little disappointed about. However, I did receive a complimentary bottle of wine to celebrate my birthday, but not 100% sure if it was meant for me, as they’d spelt my name wrong - so could have been for someone else 😳.
Anyway, we stayed in one of the rooms by the pool, accessible from outside only. The room was nice and clean with a large bathroom, however, the external appearance of the building that housed our room was underwhelming and disappointing: one of our group joked we were staying at ‘Crossroads’ (1970s motel soap opera). It certainly wasn’t in-keeping with the hotel or other external rooms.
Another niggle was the room next door had received room service, placing their trays outside our door at 6.45pm on Friday night. Food had spilled onto the floor and the tray was only removed the following morning, after I complained. Sadly, part of the food remnants on the floor had not been cleaned up - again disappointing and were still there when we checked out.
The good stuff: the restaurant in the evening (Fox Dining) was superb and couldn’t be faulted. The food was delicious and service excellent. £20 service had been added onto the bill automatically (which I normally don’t like) but on this occasion, I was happy to pay as the evening had been excellent. The hotel appears to attract quite a few golfers, so there were a couple of large groups of men, who were a little noisy but not too bad.
Breakfast was also very good bar the filter coffee, which was weak and watery. I would recommend you order a bespoke coffee off the menu instead, as this is much better.
Check out was straightforward and smooth, although both rooms were overcharged for the drinks, but this was addressed quickly by the receptionist once I spotted the error. Still, it should have been right in the first place!
Too many niggles for us to return, but a pleasant stay and very convenient for shopping in Windsor and Guildford.

Stayed for a weekend in July with 3 friends. We have stayed at Foxhills many times over the years and have always had an amazing time. We knew that this time things would be different but we still felt that we received the usual Foxhills hospitality. We stayed in rooms 20 and 21; we found the rooms very clean, well stocked with what we needed and very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were in Bar Nineteen as the Manor Restaurant was not open. We had good service for all our meals and the food was at the level we have come to expect. We also had room service for one meal which was delivered in a very reasonable time and was lovely and hot. We had no problem booking slots at the indoor pool and we enjoyed using the outdoor hot tub especially. The rest of our stay was spent by the outdoor pool near our rooms. There was a restriction on how many could be in the pool at once but again, this was expected in current times and helped us to feel safe. We didn’t have any problem getting sun beds or in the water when we wanted to. There are hand sanitiser stations around the hotel which again, helped us to feel that precautions are being taken against COVID. Staying anywhere is going to be a different experience just now but we had a great weekend and felt that all the Foxhills staff were doing their very best for their guests. We were extra impressed to see the hotel general manager in Bar 19 on several occasions, checking how everyone was and overseeing the service. We will be back for another stay very soon!

Wonderful break with just a few minor issues. Overall a very relaxing time and can’t wait to return.
My husband and I decided to book a break away while the weather was picking up and after a recommendation from a friend, we were very excited to be joining Foxhills.
We were booked in for the Sunday for 2 nights and chose the dinner, bed and breakfast option.
On arrival, check in was smooth and welcoming. I had already pre booked some of the spa facilities, which you are able to do online 2 days ahead of arrival which is very handy.
The place is beautiful and the pools looked so inviting, with our junior suite being located very close to the courtyard pool and just a short stroll over to the pavilion.
We felt very comfortable walking around the complex and both commented that we felt like we were on holiday abroad.
Our suite was lovely, a tad warm but the fan was great to have. Comfy bed and loved the little fridge/bar area.
We did have a few issues with the room during our stay, the lights went out but the staff and team were great at helping and fixing any issues. There was also a few housekeeping issues but a quick call to reception and everything was resolved with ease and a smile on faces.
We had booked our first dinner in the fox dining rooms, and we were unfortunately disappointed with this meal and also with quite slow service, to the point we decided not to have a dessert and instead went to the bar and enjoyed a drink on the terrace. The food was very well presented, but definitely lacked in flavour for the price of the dishes.
Breakfast was great, again, service a little slow, however due to covid and a lot of new staff or people returning to work after such a long break, we understood there might be a few things that might have been a little slow or not quite up to scratch.
However.... all this being said, due to how staff were polite, courteous, the weather was stunning and we were enjoying such a lovely break, we called and asked to extend our stay by an extra day and reception arranged this for us, allowing us the ability to remain in the same room too. Thank you ladies-you we’re great!
We dined at 19 for the second night and enjoyed it that much that we booked it for our third night. The food there was great-the light bites and burgers were so fresh and delicious. The staff were also so welcoming and we would like to thank the staff there on the Monday night especially for their great service.
The staff for breakfast on the final day (Wednesday) were wonderful. Did everything they could to make it a lovely final dining experience.
The pools here were brilliant, plenty of sun beds for people to be socially distanced and both outdoor pools were warm and clean and perfection to enjoy a dip in during the hot weather.
Overall, we had a fantastic time here and we are already looking at when we can come back. There were a few niggles but it was just the break away we needed and we would like to thank the staff for making it a very special time.

Had a fantastic weekend at Foxhills ... now that weekends away are possible again! It was so nice and relaxing. The rooms are spotless and they have clearly done loads of work to make sure everything is Covid safe- rooms fogged and sanitiser everywhere. Felt very safe. Many facilities still closed on our visit but golf and tennis very much open and beautiful grounds to laze in the sun. Only one restaurant open- but its just right for a burger and a beer after golf. Ursula and her delightful team were a dream after the long lockdown. A special thank you to both of the Daisy’s who looked after us so well - at reception and in the 19 bistro. Highly recommend for an easy and stress free weekend away from London 😊. A very welcome reprieve from lockdown in the city. We’ll be going back very soon!

We requested quiet bedrooms and this was confirmed by email by the hotel well in advance of our stay. This turned out not to be the case due to raucous noise and the fire alarm being set off twice, caused by unsupervised children. We were moved to a quieter location and after much negotiation, eventually at no additional cost as the rooms were superior to those booked. Unfortunately these rooms were cold and the central heating did not appear to be functional.
On the plus side, the buildings and grounds are generally well maintained with the general location being close to many interesting small towns and villages. The Club House restaurant has a reasonably comprehensive menu and we found the food hot and plentiful. The Club House staff were very attentive. Breakfast was taken in the main building but on our second visit a new policy had introduced an additional charge for premium coffee's (cappuccino etc). Our accommodation included breakfast. As this was at the end of our stay, we had already paid our hotel bill so paid separately by card, at the table, only to find that the waiter had mistakenly charged us three times. This was immediately rectified but the PDQ machine then ran out of paper. Irritating issues not expected in a hotel of this class.
My final comment is devoted to a particularly excellent member of staff at the main hotel reception, by the name of Claudia who had a seemingly encyclopaedic knowledge of the hotel and the various systems that support its operation. Claudia was of enormous assistance to us in allocating alternative rooms, quickly considering the impact of the options available. A very professional and efficient member of staff to whom we extend our grateful thanks.

We just came back from your hotel and I would like to say that we are very disappointed with our stay.
We are staying in your hotel every year, and always had great time, but this time it was awful.Begining
with shower that was full of someone’s hair(and this is now, when Covid 19 is around and cleaning should be on highest level, with antibacterial sprays and other special products!!!!!)
My mum stayed in room number 7,where sofa was so dirty that we were scared to seat on it and were putting towels on it(furniture is very old and need to be updated for sure)Plus her bath robe was disgusting,so yellow and full of stains.
And last but not least, breakfast!!!!Horrible and very disappointing..For the price we paid,we expected breakfast like before in dining rooms. With coffee served, some selection of food.
We ordered full English breakfast in bar 19 and waited for very long time.
People paying the same money as before, buy hotel can’t provide the same service, same facilities and choice(fair enough with current situation is understandable)in that case hotel should charge less. Its completely not acceptable.I don’t think even one person around us in restaurant was happy, people looked lost and frustrated.
Not sure if we will ever come back, but would be nice if Foxhills management would look in to those issues.

Yes there are a few restaurants. I recommend booking ahead and having a mask in case. It is a wise idea to research the local pubs and restaurants etc in the area first and check the website too to see what the menu is like. Or you can phone up or email to find out more.
I would say that smart casual is the way to go.
Hi David, I am sorry to hear you are having problems with Foxhills.
I have had lovely stays & you should contact the hotel again. Maybe go on their website & see who is the Gen Manager is.
I have been here a few times & a couple of weddings too.
Good luck.
Hi Nick - we weren't allowed to take our dog! So the answer is no, and we stayed in a room outside the main building, so would guess they aren't allowed anywhere there, presumably because of the golf course, but I don't know exactly why.
