Located 25 miles west of Glasgow we are now the only small hotel in Gourock providing breakfast, lunch and dinner daily to both residents and non-residents. Well established venue providing great meals with a wide range of wines, craft ales, draught beers as well as hot beverages. Our chefs provide numerous popular homemade dishes as part of the main menu along with daily specials and a weekly Sunday Roast. We have 8 letting rooms, some over looking the River Clyde. Ideally located when exploring west & central Scotland. Gourock and the surrounding area offers an good number of interesting things to do and places to visit. The Spinnaker has a small beer garden/outside sitting area. Wonderful and very popular in the summer when dining alfresco is an option along with an ice cool drink. Functions and private partys' can be catered for at the hotel also. Let us know what you want and we'll do our best to provide it. If you would like any further information please telephone or email.

Detailed Reviews
My husband and I spent two nights at the Spinnaker in mid February. We were travelling with two well behaved chihuahuas and we all had a delightful stay despite the unsettled weather (the tail end of storm Dennis). The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was warm, spotless and generously sized with views of the Clyde. The bed was very comfortable and the dogs enjoyed their walks alog the water-front promenade. We were a little late arriving and checked in just as the kitchen was closing but the staff had saved us some lovely homemade lentil soup so we could have a light meal before retiring. We also ate at the hotel on the second night of our visit as the weather did not encourage exploring the town! Breakfasts were excellent and included a full Scottish which met my husband's high standard. I would highly recommend this hotel and would return.

Visiting Port Glasgow on what was a driek day with our Bedlington terrier for a walk along the esplanade. Spotted The Spinnaker from across the road and a quick check to see if dog friendly. Yes was the answer and we were welcomed into a comfortable lounge area perfectly socially distanced and ordered soup and sandwiches an£ my wife had a glass ( or two) of wine.
Fantastic very friendly and welcoming service. Great food and nice menu with ligh5 choices and more substantial choices for those hungrier.
Good prices and perfectly placed with good free parking nearby.
Also water and a sausage for Monty. What more could you ask for!
We will definitely be back.

+1
Another great stay at the Spinnaker. It never disappoints. We ate there every night as the menu is so good. We have our favourites but do try some of the other dishes on offer and are always rubbernecking and sniffing as the “Crew” pass us with plates for other tables! Glad they keep the steak pie and mac n’ cheese on though. We usually drink the excellently kept Guinness but we tried the Belhaven Black and kept on drinking that. Quite a bit cheaper and just as well kept We’ll with a try if you like Guinness.
There’s a wide range of breakfast dishes to choose from though our preference is the Small Spinney which is more than enough for us. The bedrooms are kept squeaky clean and stocked with teas, coffees etc with biscuits everyday.
The front rooms have fantastic views over the Clyde and whether it’s sunny or wet can be spectacular. We were lucky this time.

We overnight on Saturday the 18th of September room was spacious and very clean, we had our small dog Frank with us and he was made very welcome also.
The staff and locations of the hotel is excellent.
We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel the food was superb. Staff were friendly and welcoming nothing was too much trouble, the staff team work very hard (hotel was full with guests and locals) but they still made us feel special.

Worth the 20 minute walk from Gourock town centre, or the short bus journey. Food is fantastic and service couldn’t be faulted. Lovely views as well😃. Salt and chilli chicken as a starter was tasty, followed by a fish finger sandwich ( homemade ) served with a choice of soup, chips or salad.

Once again The Spinnaker and her Crew of staff didn’t fail us. Great customer service from all the staff who are so friendly and helpful. We ate there every night of our 4 nights stay. Good selection of meals all well cooked and presented. For anyone who likes Guinness The Spinnaker’s is the best.
Very comfortable room with a great view. We asked to stay another night unexpectedly and the Manager explained we’d have to change rooms from that night as ours was booked. We were up for an early start the next day so no bother to us. The room we were given doesn’t have a view but has a 5* bathroom, very Wow. The cleaners were great and made sure our transfer from 1 room to the other was smooth and stress free.
A great break.

Have been visiting The Spinnaker for almost 30 years and never had a bad stay. The rooms are warm, clean and comfortable and have been improved over the years to an excellent standard. Breakfast is informal with an extensive menu and all items cooked to order. No pre cooking and keeping under a heat lamp. Dining menu is extensive and again excellent quality. Something for everyone - try the steak pie! And the Spinnaker Banana Boat desert is to die for. Guiness and all other drinks are first class. And all this is provided by friendly attentive staff.

Myself and my mum have previously stayed in The Spinnaker hotel last year in January 2023 and has a fantastic stay, so we decided to stay again in June 2024 for four nights and we weren't disappointed. The room was the same room we stayed in last year and it was clean, comfortable with great views of the River Clyde, the only issue we had was the door to the shower was broken which as soon as we informed staff it was fixed the same day.
The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for you. The breakfast was wonderfully cooked and a lot of it.
Would recommend anyone to stay here.

I always stay at the Spinnaker when up on business for 2 or 3 nights. The sea view rooms are lovely with breath-taking views of the Clyde, including the occasional dolphin !!
Breakfast is always great and served up to 10 am. Evening meals are tasty and varied.
Staff- especially Fraser - are always friendly, helpful and welcoming .

Breakfast is included in the room price and you have a great choice from Full Scottish, to Small Scottish to eggs, bacon and toast or porridge. Tea and coffee, juice, dry cereals, fruit and yogurt are also included and on a help-yourself basis.
No -there is a terrace outside where this would be possible but not in their lounge bars . I cannot say what the policy is in the bedrooms as I have never stayed there but I'm sure if you contacted the hotel directly they would be able to answer .
Yes in certain areas and if owners are in for something top eat.
