Located 25 miles west of Glasgow we are now the only small hotel in Gourock providing breakfast, lunch and dinner daily to both residents and non-residents. Well established venue providing great meals with a wide range of wines, craft ales, draught beers as well as hot beverages. Our chefs provide numerous popular homemade dishes as part of the main menu along with daily specials and a weekly Sunday Roast. We have 8 letting rooms, some over looking the River Clyde. Ideally located when exploring west & central Scotland. Gourock and the surrounding area offers an good number of interesting things to do and places to visit. The Spinnaker has a small beer garden/outside sitting area. Wonderful and very popular in the summer when dining alfresco is an option along with an ice cool drink. Functions and private partys' can be catered for at the hotel also. Let us know what you want and we'll do our best to provide it. If you would like any further information please telephone or email.

The Hotel sits overlooking the Firth of Clyde and the mountains beyond. It's a victoriana style building (actually built in the 1920's. Bus stop just outside and train station abour 15mins walk. Food was excellent, staff were helpfull and friendly. Room was comfortable well provided and clean. Would certainly visit again.

In the grand tradition of Scottish hospitality, where the luminaries of history have often found solace in the arms of idyllic retreats, I recently discovered my own haven at the Spinnaker Hotel, Gourock. Perched like a watchful sentinel over the Clyde, this modest yet charming establishment offers more than just a place to rest one’s weary head. My lodgings, while being the hotel’s most economically prudent offering, afforded a view of the Clyde that was nothing short of therapeutic. The compact room seemed to hark back to an era of seafaring minimalism, reminiscent of the quarters of a naval officer in the midst of a great voyage. Yet, it possessed all the comforts that a modern-day traveller might desire. The primary allure that drew me was the Gourock pool, an outdoor saltwater swimming pool, which allowed me to indulge in extensive swimming sessions throughout the day. Additionally, I found myself enjoying the Spinnaker's quiz night and the vegan options for breakfast and dinner. It was a delight to see how vibrant and alive the hotel was at all times of the day. Perhaps the most profound pleasure of my stay was the time spent at the outdoor tables of the hotel, under the vast Scottish sky -- bright and stark even in November -- offering a perfect setting for physics writing, with the clean, fresh sea air polluted only by my Romeo y Julieta cigars purchased in the Gourock's "The Whisky Room Scotland" shop. The Spinnaker Hotel, with its blend of historical charm, welcoming ambiance, and conscientious cuisine, provided a stay that was both intellectually stimulating and refreshingly serene. It stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Scottish hospitality, a legacy that has witnessed the comings and goings of many a great mind throughout the anals of time.

Stayed here for 3 night and what an absolutely great stay we had. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. We were lucky to get a bedroom with a Clyde view which was just magic. Breakfast was superb as was our evening meals. A nice selection and variety of meals to choose from. Would definitely be staying here again. Thank you for looking after us.

We stayed for one night only. Lovely friendly place. We had an evening meal, cannot recommend the soups and fish and chips enough ! had a nice bottle of wine too ! Great service from all the staff. Breakfast was outstanding also. Parking was not a problem , plenty of room outside and around the hotel area.We even was ok to have our little dog with us at no extra charge. We stayed in room 7, lovely sized room. The bathroom was almost as big as the main room. The only down fall was the view, a rough back yard. But we pulled the blind down and as i said we stayed 1 night so it was not a prob when you can sit in the bar and look out at the sea ! Great place would definitely stay again !!

Stayed here for one night, lovely place and very clean, the staff are very helpful and friendly, food was fantastic and reasonably priced, I even got my steak exactly as ordered, the drinks are not overpriced like some hotels and they are not shy with the measures either, we would definitely stay here again and even thinking of popping in for a meal now and again when we finish shopping and heading back to the ferry rather than go to Burger King, and another good thing is there is no problem with parking, we were in room 3 which has a fantastic view over the Clyde

After a long drive we walked in the door at 8.02 pm to enjoy a couple of drinks with a nice dinner. We were told the kitchen closed at 8.00pm. Two minutes late. So we took our money somewhere else. Poor.

Response from Stewart McCartney, Owner at The Spinnaker Hotel
Responded 31 Aug 2023
I appreciate what you're saying and I would say we would normally accommodate customers asking for food close to when the kitchen closes. Sometimes if it's quite quiet the chefs are ready to leave at their normal time - 8 o'clock. I'm sorry we didn't / couldn't accommodate you this evening. The 1 star rating I as the owner doesn't reflect the business truly and would have preferred you asked to speak to me personally.

Once again The Spinnaker and her Crew of staff didn’t fail us. Great customer service from all the staff who are so friendly and helpful. We ate there every night of our 4 nights stay. Good selection of meals all well cooked and presented. For anyone who likes Guinness The Spinnaker’s is the best. Very comfortable room with a great view. We asked to stay another night unexpectedly and the Manager explained we’d have to change rooms from that night as ours was booked. We were up for an early start the next day so no bother to us. The room we were given doesn’t have a view but has a 5* bathroom, very Wow. The cleaners were great and made sure our transfer from 1 room to the other was smooth and stress free. A great break.
