Take the long drive up to Cornhill Castle, near Biggar, and you’ll catch your breath when you get your first glimpse of this majestic building. Situated in acres of stunning countryside, overlooking the River Clyde and to the hills beyond, this is a jewel in Lanarkshire’s crown. Private and secluded, it’s a magical escape into a Scottish fairyland castle. All rooms are large, comfortable and beautifully decorated, many offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside. A Grand Ballroom boasts huge glittering chandeliers, a large dance floor, a state-of-the-art sound system and exquisite décor. The doors to the Grand Ballroom open out into the vast gardens and to a decking area where you can relax and enjoy the views. Cornhill Castle features in many dream wedding venue lists and it also includes a stunning honeymoon suite located in one of the original castle turrets which occupies three levels. This beautiful suite has its own Jacuzzi bath, sauna, rainfall shower and viewing area. There are excellent dining options in the Ghillie restaurant which enjoys gorgeous views, and there are also sitting rooms while you can relax and enjoy some afternoon tea. Families can take their children on the Cornhill Castle Nature Trail, while the historic town of Biggar is only a short drive away. It’s a perfect escape from the city but it’s also within equal reach to both Glasgow and Edinburgh. Business guests can make good use of the quiet solitude for brainstorming as the Grand Ballroom can also accommodate a large conference. There’s a total of 12 rooms and there’s also a helipad for guests wishing to arrive by helicopter. Enjoy a complimentary measure of our signature Ghillie Gin, delivered to your room, shortly after your arrival.

Had an overnight stay this week and just could not pass on how wonderful it was. I've stayed in lots of hotels, and few of them deliver everything they promise - Cornhill does. It's small, quiet and luxury, and despite there being weddings on we hardly noticed. We had a standard room, but it still felt luxurious. Decorated beautifully and immaculately clean. The shower......fabulous! Dinner was quiet and the dining room is intimate and relaxing. Food was excellent and nothing was any trouble to any of the staff. Wedding guests were dined separately at breakfast, and I remember thinking how easy it would have been to forget about us but that couldn't be further from the truth. The staff were so attentive. Particular mention goes to bar manager Louise and her colleague (can't remember his name). Louise was just so happy at her work and full of enthusiasm, excellent hospitality. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed and we will definitely be back.

Stayed with my partner for his birthday and he received complementary chocolates on arrival. Our room had a spa bath and amazing views. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout and very comfortable. Staff were lovely.
I always think that if you raise an issue and it’s dealt with appropriately, then that’s far more reassuring than everything being perfect first time round. I had a slightly substandard cocktail and when I commented, the charge was removed from the bill, I was offered a replacement, and when I declined (as it was late and we had an early start mountain biking at Glentress next day🤣), we were promised a glass of fizz with dinner next day, which was duly delivered as promised! The birthday meal was fabulous.I had scallops, beautifully cooked, and he had haggis Bon bons, served with black pudding crumb. I followed up with the vegetarian dish which was spinach and mushroom tart, and he had the fish and chips.
We will absolutely be back!

We were lucky enough to have our daughter's wedding at Cornhill on Saturday 13th November and stayed in one of the lodges the night before the wedding and in the hotel the night after. The lodge was so comfortable and we enjoyed using the hot tub before a lovely meal in the Ghillie restaurant with our daughter and the bridesmaids. The room after the wedding was also lovely a great size and good amenities. Could not fault a thing and the wedding was just fantastic. Thanks to all the staff involved.

went to cornhill castle for my daughters graduation meal. Cornhill was recommended to me by my sister Adel who is a manager at The Commercial Hotel. I cannot rate our experience and meal highly enough. The staff, Bill and Ross made our evening enjoyable and because we brought a cake for my daughter they brought us a knife and plates so we could have a piece of cake with our coffee. The staff were very approachable and friendly. My family and i will be back for another delicious meal which i cannot fault.

Me and 3 friends stayed in one of the lodges. We had a great 2 days/nights. Views from the hot tub were amazing. Had nice walk along the river. Breakfast was delivered both mornings in a hamper, tasty produce. Had meal in the Castle Hotel one night, food was delicious. Staff were super friendly, special mention to Ruth on Reception, Ryan and Louise in the restaurant and Marie who did the housekeeping. Definitely recommend this place.

Stayed here last week on a last minute booking for 1 night. We stayed on Urquhart Suite. Beautiful
U walk into a sitting room then through to huge bedroom then WOW the bathroom is out of this world. Never seen anything like the shower in there. We had a few drinks in the bar then dinner. Lisa took excellent care of us. Food was nice. At breakfast a wedding party took over dining but we were set up in another room and another girl looked after us sorry didn't get ur name but I looked after us very well too. All staff we met were so friendly and nothing was a bother. The whole place is spotless and lovely grounds. Definitely will be back

Myself and my husband had a fantastic overnight here on Saturday and can’t wait to return. We were given a warm and friendly welcome and although we were half an hour early for check in our room was ready for us. The room was so beautiful and the bathroom was gorgeous. Very clean and comfortable too. We went down for afternoon tea which was soooo good. All very fresh and the blackberry cream to match the blackberry jam for the scones was delicious. We couldn’t finish it all so were given a box to take the cakes away. There was a wedding on and the weather was lovely so it was nice to relax and watch the world go by. The. views are amazing and the gardens are lovely. We could see the new lodges with hot tubs which also look great. Our evening meal was delicious and the staff couldn’t have done enough. Good selection of wines but definitely need to rethink the beer choices, would be lovely to see some ales included on the menu, Scottish ones or even local ones would be even better. Breakfast was the only thing that was a little disappointing as because there was a wedding party in there was no choice left at the buffet table and no space for us to sit but we were shown to our own table in another room and everything else brought to us which was all fresh and delicious. The staff were attentive without being over powering. Special thanks to Mike and Stuart for taking such good care of us and also the lady on reception and the young guy in the restaurant on the Saturday night. I can’t remember their names sorry. All in all a brilliant stay and we have ranted about it since getting home and we can’t wait to come back soon! Thanks again for everything. Jenna and Ewan Harwood

Stayed at cornhill castle from 9th February to 11th February for my daughters wedding. The breakfast on the 11th was terrible. Food had ran out, service was shocking and my daughter was taking a lot of flak from the guests as there was no food. My daughter didn’t get to eat her breakfast on the morning of her wedding as service was so slow.
Apart from that the meal at the wedding was fantastic and the wedding staff went above and beyond for my daughter. Just a let down about breakfast.

We had dinner here as non-residents. The food was okay although a bit limited as there were a number of items ‘off the menu’. The service however was terrible. We had to wait a long time for our courses to arrive. There were rarely any waiting staff in the dining room - we had to hunt someone down to ask for bread with our soup, and when it did arrive the soup was almost finished. No-one came to collect our main course plates or ask us if we wanted dessert. The receptionist did waive our bill when we told her what had happened, but she also said that a manager would phone to speak with us the following day. We are still waiting! We will not be returning.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feed back. Apologise your visit wasn't with out issue and far below our normally high standard in which we are truly sorry that obviously we got things wrong on this occasion. All feed back is invaluable to our business assisting in the development of our teams of people and aiding in the consistent delivery of our product and improving our standards. We sincerely hope we have the opportunity to reinstall faith back into our operation here at Cornhill castle and hopefully in the not too distant future.

We stayed in the one of the wooden lodges in the Castle grounds. The cabin interior was really cosy and luxurious, and the hot tub was absolutely amazing and with the view across the countryside it was really tranquil. The staff are really lovely as well, they were super friendly and helpful. If you’re a foodie then you’ll love the menu as well! We really enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner at Cornhill, but we chose to eat in our cabin, and we were able to have a picnic basket delivered and also a big home baked chicken pot pie with veggie and mash to our room. I would definitely recommend the lodges for a romantic retreat to just spend some time relaxing and enjoying a hot tub, good grub and lovely fresh air!
