This is a warm, comfortable place to stay. Not fussy and relaxing. Parking is easy. I do wish more places had more e electrical sockets and reading lights in the rooms. Also a shower glass would be good for taking showers but the bath fills up pretty quickly and is a good size so no complaints there. Although the Lodge...

Our fourth visit in this hotel. Stayed in room 14 this time, a ground floor room which was lovely. Only one drawback, there was a shower over bath. With a ground floor room i always expect a shower cubicle. which suits a less abled person better. As always the staff and breakfast was great. Perfect base to visit Hereford and...

Stayed while on a training course. Easy to find and good signposts on the road. Reception staff were very friendly and had everything ready for me. If you are planning on arriving after 9pm, its best to call then ahead of time and let them know. I was sleeping in the annex, which had it's own common room, with TV...

My girlfriend and I decided to go on holiday for a day, we both work in the hospitality trade, so getting time off is rare, so we like to be able to have a nice time when we go away and to be satisfied ... So we looked online for somewhere to stay away from outside of our home town...

Really nice converted barn complex. Located a few minutes drive from Hay on Wye. Stayed here for one night in October on a bit of a last minute type of booking. Very friendly and helpful staff. Massive room in barn adjacent to main building with huge bed which always makes a change from so many places that try and squeeze...

Can't say enough wonderful things about the Black Mountain Lodge. We recently had our wedding there. We had stayed there a couple of times before booking it for our wedding and always found it incredibly warm and welcoming with good food and drinks. Kim was incredibly accommodating while we were planning the day. She found a solution to everything we...

We attended a Wedding at Black Mountain Lodge and found it a lovely warm, welcoming venue. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble. All the children were welcomed and there was plenty of seating.

We stayed here whilst doing activities with Black mountain Activities. The staff were very welcoming and helpful - we arrived back from our activity rather later than expected! We had a two course dinner as part of our room rate and it was very good. breakfast the following morning was excellent and set us up for our day of canoeing.

We had our wedding here on Saturday October 8th and what a fantastic time we had. The venue is in such a beautiful setting and the fact you have it to yourselves for the day is a bonus when you book the wedding package,so family and friends can stay too. Kim has been so helpful from our first meeting and...

We were invited to a friend's Evening Wedding Party on October 8th 2016 at the Black Mountain Lodge and decided to stay there for the night following the party. We arrived approximately 5.45pm and booked in and given the keys to our room no 15. The room was lovely, comfortable bed, tea/coffee making facilities and spacious bathroom with shower cubicle...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The oldest part of this lovely old traditional stone building is believed to date back to the 17th century. Set in its own grounds with ample free parking and located at the foothills of the Black Mountains, it is surrounded by beautiful countryside and breathtaking views. With its relaxing atmosphere and comfortable rooms, it lends itself perfectly for those wishing to visit the area to take part in outdoor activities or for those who just want to "get away from it all" and maybe visit the famous town of books Hay on Wye, with its antiques & book shops and its literary festival held in May, or visit the quaint market town Brecon to join in with its Jazz festival in August or walk the Brecon Beacons, then there is the Royal Welsh Show in July, in Builth Wells. The lodge has its own lounge bar, providing local and international beers and wines. A cosy restaurant with a delicious a la-carte menu serving seasonal local produce, which all makes for a great dining experience. You are welcome to join us for as long or as short as you like, we cater for individuals, parties, families and corporate groups, offering everything from budget shared accommodation through to deluxe four poster bedroom. The deluxe room has a four poster bed, tea/coffee felicity, 32" flat screen TV, sofa and an en-suite to die for! All other rooms except for budget rooms are en-suite with tea/coffee facilities and TVs. ... more   less
