Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really wasn’t sure wha to expect but it was one of the best Sunday lunches and brilliant value for money. Huge choice of veg, lovely mash, proper roasties and the turkey was really tasty and juicy….definitely going again. Having read what visitors say about the locals, I can understand but remember that these are the people who keep the pub going in the winter.

Had a lovely meal after a wet morning visiting the waterfalls. Owner was great and staff very friendly and our 6month old flatcoat was so spoilt by the owner. Would definitely recommend if you want good food and so so dog friendly.. Would definitely go there again when on holiday in the area next time

We were happy to find a place that could take us a short notice. On arrival we were seated in what they describe as the lounge. It was more like a corridor to the toilet. Anyway we ordered and settled in. Not long after a couple of locals walked to the toilet and at the top of their voices were swearing and talking in Welsh. As we had our young daughter with us it didn’t go down well. Our meal arrived and we tried to carry on. Again, the same locals then stood in the lounge and were swearing very loudly. Not your bugger or sh!t either. This was only at 7ish.I had to confront a drunken local and ask him to calm the language down. The owners came over and said “it’s because they have been at work”. Unbelievable. To his credit the bloke came back over and did apologise. I agree with other reviews on here, if you aren’t local you are not welcome. All the other pubs in the area, The New Inn and the Railway Inn are exactly the same. Drunken locals running amok. Avoid if you have a family with you.

We were staying at a glamping site locally and went for some food. Called in on the Monday and was told they don’t do food on a Monday. Went back on the Tuesday and was told they don’t do food but only on the weekend. One of those local pubs for local people where everyone stops talking when you walk in the room. Not for me. I don’t get why they get such good reviews.

We visited this pub with friends for the carvery. It has been a long time since I last had a carvery, but this one would take some beating. The quality of the meat was excellent and we were given generous amounts too. Then there was a really good choice of veg, with mash and roasted potatoes. You could just help yourself to as much veg and potatoes as you wanted. An excellent Sunday lunch.

we stopped in the village for 3 nights at a lovely Airbnb and visited the first night and had a drink in the bar Very friendly and helpful barmaid. We booked a table for the following evening for food and hoping to watch the Wolves V Man U match as it was advertised as being shown. We also booked for the carvery for the Sunday. The bar was very pleasant and nice beer. However, we turned up for our meal the following evening and the table had to be 'reset' as the local football team had been in and messed it up. Our table was booked for 5pm and we eventually got served at 5.40. Its definitely a local family pub and no atmosphere at all. We asked if we could have the match on as it was showing rugby but apparently, we were overruled by other customers so had to have the rugby on. The meal itself was delicious and the staff in the pub are really nice and friendly - it just wasnt that nice a dining experience unfortunately. We decided against the carvery the following day which was a shame because we were looking forward to it

We went to the Wynnstay for Lunch on the Sunday, a meal at £9.95, where better can you go. The main course, a choice of Turkey or Beef or both, then help yourself to the many vegetables plus the best baked potatoes I've tasted, no limit to how much you stack ones plate. They get between 80 & 120 people each Sunday. Well worth a visit, and like me you'll be back. Sadly the Hotel only offers meals from Thursday to Sunday. No Accommodation.
