We only went to the restaurant, so no knowledge of the accommodations. We parked across the highway and sat outside overlooking the bay on a sunny afternoon. Spectacular views. We had the cheese platter and chicken sandwich. Perfect light combo before embarking on a 4 hour hike. The cheese platter was a tad on the small side (a bit overpriced... More

We visited for a friends wedding staying 3 nights. Our first room was downstairs and we quickly learned that the view we hoped for was not as great as we'd have hoped. The first night was sold out and we were unable to change, but the manager changed our rooms without an upgrade charge and moved us to a quaint... More

The people we interacted with at Mountain Home Inn all went above and beyond the call of duty. My wife and I stayed for a weekend. We didn't catch the name of the guy who seemed to be the manager/server in the mornings but he would do little things that really were memorable. When we asked for a bottle of... More

The food was great, the view was wonderful. Close to hiking trails, but positioned so that you start your hike walking downhill and end it walking uphill on the return. The property is tired and tatty. Looks like its heyday was 1985. The carpets were dirty, the bathroom fixtures corroded, the tile cracked, and the grout cracked and icky, with... More

We recently stayed at the Mountain Home Inn while on a hiking trek. Our room was large with a king-sized bed, a fireplace and a deck overlooking the back of the property. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large with a jetted tub. The room was dated and worn but comfortable. The bathroom was also large but dated.... More

Last minute find for an overnight stay in the mountains yet close to town (Mill Valley). Breakfast included! Views are lots of trees and SF bay in the distance! Beautiful! Trails right out the front door for hiking! Rustic, cozy and loved the deck for meals! No TV in most rooms. I got a free upgrade to a more quiet... More

Mountain Home's location at the top of the ridge offers more then just amazing views! It allows you to be in the perfect location should you choose to explore the untamed and rustic Marin, or the glitzy and dense San Francisco. Here you will find well priced rooms, fantastic breakfasts and an outstanding staff. This is a great location from... More

After having had our wedding at the Inn last year, we decided to come back to celebrate our one year anniversary and were not disappointed. We had originally chose the spot for our wedding because of its simple rustic charm, gorgeous views of the bay and the absolute freshest mountain air (we joked about becoming permanent residents of the MHI!)... I stayed at the Mountain View Inn because it is directly across the street from the back entrance to Muir Woods. Check out the Bay Area Hiker website for advice on the trails. With a bit of hiking you can access Muir Woods without having to drive. It is the only reason I can recommend staying here. The hotel is... More

Before posting this to TripAdvisor, I emailed the Mountain Home Inn to give them an opportunity to makes things right. I sent them the following email on 9/9/16. I never heard back. Rather than re-typing a review, I am just posting the email I sent. It covers just about everything. (I am shocked that the Mountain Home Inn has 4... More
