Although our room was not very clean nor spacious, the hostel has very nice common areas : big lounge (with comfy sofas, guitars, TV), nice kitchen, plenty of tables to sit... Very nice garden and big terrace with an amazing view over the Mount Paku. I also really appreciated the free kayaks, bicycles and Wifi!

We spend several days here. This hostel is a good base for exploring the Peninsula if you have your own transportation. The rooms were clean, organized and tidy and I never had a dorm room with such a lovely view. While we were there DE eat families with kids also stayed there making it a nice and comfortable family atmosphere.... More

We stayed here for 3 nights. The setting was very relaxing and the common areas were great - great views of the bay, separate spot for smokers, greenery. The place needs to upgrade a lot of it's equipment - life jackets and kayaks are worn out, and we spent over an hour trying to boil corn because we couldn't find... More

Have just spent four days in Tairua, where I found it pretty central for travelling round the Coromandel. The Hostel is well placed, near to the local amenities, with a lovely view of the estuary, large garden, and outside clothes line. My room was a double with ensuite, which was perfect for my stay, it was clean, quiet, linen provided.... More

The hostel is a little run down as is the equipment that can be borrowed. Forget the windsurfing gear or kayaks. The body boards are nice to have and the spades for hot water beach were really appreciated. Biggest complaint: the families that were also staying here. It seemed to be a stop for businessmen or families. That in itself... More

Booked a backpackers ensuite, large, clean room in beautiful surroundings. Could not fault this place at all. Close to town, however in peaceful location. Best backpackers we have stayed in, would defiantly recommend.

Stayed for 2 nights, found rooms to be clean and comfortable with access to a lovely back garden with ample seating & a 'sky deck'/ elevated terrace. Fab views. No problems with owners - on the contrary found them both to be friendly and helpful. Not charged for wifi.

I stayed here for one night with a friend and we actually quite liked this little backpackers. We didn't have to pay for wifi so there may be the possibly they have stopped charging for it. We had a room at the front which meant we had an amazing view of Mt Paku. The place was clean and I loved... More
