Just spent a great evening at Hartley Homestead on our recent Otago trip. Host Euan (and assistant Jazz the spaniel) went out of his way to make sure we were well looked after: free room upgrade, inviting us in to his home to share some local wine and stories, and preparing a special 'on-the-run' breakfast for us when we said...

This quaint B & B felt like home, it's charm & peacefulness made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived, We originally planed to stay one night & stayed for four! It's the perfect location for day tripping through central Otago. Every morning we set off in one direction or another after enjoying one of Euan's delicious breakfasts...home...

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in January 2017. This is a beautiful maintained early 20th century house with so much charm. Euan was very welcoming and pays attention to every detail. He even offered us tea on arrival because he read on the reservation that we don't drink. We loved chats in the beautiful yard with Euan and...

We had the two bed room which was spacious and had a great outlook of the garden. Our stay was warm and welcoming from the moment we pulled up. The atmosphere was lovely. Lounge spacious. Shower great. Breakfast delicious. Thank you very much.

The atmospheric home, beautiful garden, quiet but convenient location, comfortable bed and well appointed rooms/bathrooms make this a wonderful B&B. But what really made the stay special was the warmth and generosity of Euan. He was the consummate host. In an age where accommodation has become little more than a commodity, Euan’s extraordinary hospitality was heart warming. He obviously and...

We had booked for two nights and found Euan really giving us great service, the place is clean and tidy. We have been looked after, were able to use the washing machine and dryer. Breakfast superb ! Nice Pinot noir and cheese was offered to us for welcoming us. Really recommend the place and if we decide to come back...

This was our second stay at Hartley Homestead. Previously we stayed in the annex suite above the garage. This time we stayed in a room in the the house which does not have an en suite. You do have to walk through the house to get to the bathroom (the shower is worth the walk). So be aware of that....

We stayed in The Retreat, a secluded loft, located adacent to the main house, in Dec 2016 prior to cycling the Otago Central Rail Trail. The owner was welcoming and charming, as was his spaniel. Euan unexpectedly provided us with a sumptuous breakfast. We would love to stay their again.

I cannot begin to understand the previous unfavourable review. My husband and I just spent a night in 'The Retreat' - i.e., the unit above Euan's garage, and we couldn't be more pleased with the accommodation. The apartment was wonderful: quiet, extremely comfortable (the superking bed was a definite highlight), and with all the little luxuries (fluffy robes, chocolates, slippers...

We stayed in the 'best' room in this establishment. Advertised as a hotel but more of a lodge. Our room was above the garage and all noise from below came clearly through the floor. The ceiling was the most interesting ... VERY sloped - if you stood up from the couch you bumped your head! The toilet and shower were...

Dear Guest, It was great hosting you and your partner the over the other weekend. I can see by your review you had a few issues. As you can see by our name "Hartley Homestead Boutique Bed & Breakfast" we're a B&B not "Hartley Homestead Boutique Hotel/Lodge". Unfortunately Booking.com appears to bundle everyone under the Hotel category. Guests in the...
