Welcome to my peaceful Fox Glacier hideaway, set on 8 acres of "Pure Nature" at its best. This modern country home has it all. With wide-open landscape, breathtaking views of Mt Cook and Mt Tasman, and surrounded by bush-clad hills with a magnificent reflection on my own special pond.

One of these places were you get so much more than "just" what u paid for. Besides the clean shiny room and the big pumpering breakfast, our host was simply wonderful. She knew everything about the area and beyond. Which hikes and walks to take and when, and had all the patience in the world for our endless questions! Thank you Karen for your warm and kind hospitality! Hope we meet again🙏

This is a B&B in a beautiful location. Karen is a friendly host and offers a mine of information for things to do, places to go and New Zealand life in general. We had a great stay despite the cloud cover! Recommended

One of the main reasons we frequently stay at B&Bs on our travels is that the B&B experience gets us closer to life in the communities we visit. If the host is really good, it often saves us much time and trouble because we get help fine-tuning our plans for an area to maximize our time. When we reached FGMB&B, Karen could tell we were a bit disheartened. The rain had been unceasing for over a week, and we had had to cancel things like Milford Sound because of an avalanche on the road. Other roads were washing out, and with all the moisture in the air, we were afraid we would not be able to see the glaciers. Karen was terrific. She took us in hand and explained that while the road to Fox Glacier was washed out, we could still get in to see the Franz Josef Glacier, but we had to plan out a strategy. She was such a great help. We had a phenomenal experience hiking a river bed up to the Glacier and the mists cleared enough for us to have a good look. We also took advantage of a secret spot she mentioned to see the Fox Glacier from a distance. The place is outside of town, but just a short drive to town and Fox Glacier...Franz Josef is a little further. The accommodations are clean and comfortable. Thank you, Karen. We are most grateful!…

My husband and I stayed only one night at this B&B, but I think when the memory of the other places we stayed fade, we will remember this one because of the exceptional owner, Karen. The B&B itself has all the things I look for in a stay - clean comfortable, and well located, with a beautiful view outside our door as an added bonus. Our own entrance and key made the room feel private. But for us, the best part was Karen, the very well traveled and adventuress owner, who will take as much time as you require to help you plan your time in Fox Glacier and throughout New Zealand. For me, travel is as much about the people you meet as the sights you see, and we very much enjoyed meeting Karen and feeling welcomed in her home.

Karen greeted us as we drove up the metal driveway and told us where parking was for the Lemon Cottage, which was right outside the verandah. Very good seeing it was raining. The cottage was inviting, but when it came to kitchen equipment it was very sparse. We had a bench with sink, 1 knife & 2 Teaspoons, small fridge and a notice telling you all the rules. No cooking was allowed so no microwave was available. As I like to heat my mik for breakfast for my coffee, I asked Karen if she could do this for me at breakfast next morning. The answer was NO, as she would be too busy cooking !! Then I noticed we only had 2 mugs & 2 water glasses. Again I asked for 2 wine glasses and was told we already had glasses wihout stems and that was that. So don't ask for any favors as you're not going to get them. Good wifi, very clean, nice breakfast, great pressure for shower & comfortable bed. The rail in the wardrobe was far to high…

Hello! We're Juan and Monica from Barcelona (Spain). We stayed there a couple of days in February 2019. We' were impressed by Karen. We have travelled arround the world but her care and positive help is unique. The most important thing for Karen was that our stay was pleasant (she helped us plan our stay places to visit). We were in New Zealand two weeks and we lost our baggages and Karen helped us phoning Auckland Airport for us to recover them. With her help finally we recovered our luggage easily. Thank you Karen for all and see you in Spain if it is possible, Kindly, Juan and Monica

The perfect B&B, a gorgeous view of Fox Glacier, gardens and a wonderful hostess, Karen, greeted us with enthusiasm. Coffee and tea offered after viewing our spotless and spacious rooms, with many helpful suggestions to make our visit perfect. She happily booked a helicopter tour and dinner reservations. The next morning we enjoyed a fabulous custom breakfast with some other guests. Karen is very knowledgeable and made suggestions once she listened and understood our itinerary. Our delightful hostess is just what we needed, a real taste of New Zealand. Thanks K2❤️

We enjoyed our stay here pretty much. Although owner Karen may seem to be a serious and solemn person at first, it's the thoughtfulness and hospitality she demonstrated during check-in did we genuinely feel. She was willing to spend half an hour just to briefly go through the premises, the township, the recommended timeframe to visit Lake Matheson, and all the other helpful tips. Mountainview B&B is just 3 minutes drive from downtown, and only 5 minutes drive to the famous Lake Matheson. You can even get the best lookout spot for Mt Cook with another 5 minutes drive. The room is quite cosy and tidy, however the only thing we did slightly complain about is the linen seem to be little bit humid when we opened the bed sheet. There is a booklet inside the room, prepared by Karen, to help you better understand the surrounding area as well as the location and opening hours of the shops, restaurants, and activities. The breakfast is hot and tasty, with continental one available if you are in a hurry. It's really lovely to stay here for a few nights, greeted by numerous cows in the morning, and above all, to witness the exact beauty of Mt Cook.…

We didn’t book any accommodation and found Karen by chance. At 8pm she was able to give us a fabulous cottage with a very comfortable bed, heated floors and heated towel rack! The view of the mountain and sunset/ sunrise were incredible here. Karen is a HUGE wealth of knowledge and is well connected in the area. She told us to go to the lake to grab a mirror reflection as well as eat dinner there which was absolutely the best food in Fox. To top it all off, Karen homecooked our breakfast to order and it was absolutely delicious!

Karen, our host, greeted us on arrival with tea and biscuits and loads of helpful advice on area hikes and sights to see. Our room was clean, spacious, and cozy. We woke up to a clear view of the southern alps, just outside our door! Breakfast was filling and tasty. Highly recommend this B&B!
