We only got to spend one night in this beautiful place. Quiet, with all rooms looking into the rain forest and - what luck - it rained. What a perfect place. The rooms are lovely and well-appointed. Some are quite far from the front desk, if that's a concern. The beds are

My wife and I were booked into this hotel for 2 nights, including dinner on the first night. At reception we were booked in quickly and a helpful young man came and unloaded our luggage and took it to our room, which was large, clean and well set out. The bed was very

Based on the photos and the price-tag you might think this is a luxury retreat. It falls short. For what we paid I have to say we were fairly disappointed. This was by far the most expensive place we stayed during our three-week trip through New Zealand, and not even close to

Dear Roeshan Sincerest apologies. Why did you not raise these issues as and when they occurred? Nicolaas, Canopy Restaurant Manager ("major highlight") enquired on both days as to your overall impression and stay at Te Waonui Forest Retreat. I personally remember introducing myself at the time and wishing your son a happy birthday, another perfect opportunity for these problems to be raised and resolved there and then by Hotel Management. Yours sincerely Richard

The Te Wanoui Retreat likes to think of itself as a luxury hotel but it is not there yet. Whoever heard of a luxury hotel asking guests to do their own laundry and pay a fee for it? Where does the spa's masseuse double as a waitress? I could add more but instead prefer to focus

Dear Jules060617 Similar to supermarkets waging war on single-use plastic bag consumption by charging. Attaching a cost to electricity and water consumption associated with guest washing and tumble-drying was a decision made at Te Waonui Forest Retreat around three years ago. Whilst all waged employees of our Hotel have a primary area of responsibility it is not uncommon for employees to pick up extra shifts in other departments which I am surprised to read you took exception to. Yours sincerely Richard

Dear Out-of-SF Apologies for my belated response. Yes, we will be offering a traditional Christmas dinner on 25 December 2015. Please discuss with me your preferred activities during your time with us and I would be more than happy to assist with a personalised itinerary over this period, Yours sincerely Richard
