Took about 5 mins to drive to town Keith, the manager was super friendly and helpful. The rooms, we had a 2 bedroom for the five of us, were clean and had plenty of room. There was quite a bit of wear and tear on the furniture and finishings, but we could care less! Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to review our Retreat. The Retreat will be refurbished during winter this year as it is now showing some fair wear and tear - as you have noticed. We are glad you enjoyed your stay, despite the non-stop rain. We hope you are in a sunny place by now?

Great place to stay, outside of town, but so quiet and away from the tourist bustle. We booked a family suite 2 adults and 2 kids. Place was wonderful. First thing we look for is cleanliness which you could tell the owners care for the place. Place is very well insulated so even though it was freezing outside it was...

The bathroom is well heated so need not to worry about taking shower in cold weather. It's located 5 minutes away from the town so driving is necessary. Basic pantry condiments such as salt and pepper are provided so if you would like to cook you can get the groceries sorted out at Foursquare supermarket at the town area. Will...

One night here. Friendly welcome and comfortable chalet. It is a few km outside FJ town but courtesy cars available if you want a night out. Good cooking facilities but mean on crockery and table space.

Hi John, thank you for your feedback. We are very glad you enjoyed the cooking facilities and in light of your comments we will review the crockery situation. However, the unit is only set up for two people and with limited space available the sofa with a coffee table and the small round table with two chairs are about all...

We stayed here for 2 nights and would thoroughly recommend it. It is well signposted and easy to find. The chalets are modern, spacious, clean and well maintained. The kitchenette and laundry facilities are very good. The staff are friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.

The welcome was very warm and welcome, great advice about the things to do in the arena and where to eat. There is a Hummer limousine service which brings you to a pub in the village, this is free of charge. We didn't use it, but it's one of the possibilities. The accomodation is very clean and spacious and about...

What an amazing place to stay when stopping to see the glaciers. The family have just taken over s d couldn't be more helpful. Slightly out of town (5 minutes) bug they offer you a courtesy bus if you want to go out into one of the many restaurants. Can't say enough about this place, including the town and glacier....

We arrived late afternoon after travelling by car from Greymouth after a fantastic trans alpine train trip from Christ church to a most welcoming lady in Mel and her daughter, who showed us to our cabin - which ironically was named Bracken -this is my wife Karen's maiden name. The accommodation was just perfect well heated open style whilst providing...

Neat 2 bedroom accommodation with good facilities to cook our meal. View from the lounge room area of Franz Joseph glacier. Excellent informative friendly host who encouraged us to go and walk to the glacier even though we arrived quite late. Drove 5 kms to the village and just past there to a parking area. walked 45 minutes to end...
