There is a trail that heads up the mountain behind the cabins - not an "official trail" bit actually a path made by elk and sheep when they come down. McGregor's is very close to the northern entrance to the park - on US34 - and RMNP has many trails - from in the meadow, along streams to waterfalls, up the mountains to lakes, or hiking at 12000 feet on the Old Ute trail - something for everyone depending on your mood that day

Hi there! Although there is a wide variety of places to fish in and around Estes, we don't have access right on property. Just a 5 min drive into town to fish at lake Estes, and various lakes and streams in the National park and in the area for fishing anywhere from a 5-30 min drive or hike depending on what kind of fishing he's wanting to do. Hope that helps!
