We stayed here for three nights. The staff was helpful;,kept inquiring if we needed anything. It is a very basic motel, not any frills. It was clean, quiet and easily accessible to downtown Salem and parks. I would stay here again. The cost was very...More

This is definitely an old-school motel, but I knew that since the front desk clerk called me about two months before my trip and had me pay a deposit over the phone (and sent a receipt in the mail!) The front desk clerks were very...More

We just stayed at the Clipper Ship for the opening weekend for Halloween this year (2018). We were a little concerned after reading a few of the reviews, but I have to say that they were all wrong. This is a quaint little hotel that...More

I have never seen a more disinterested and unfriendly group of women than work at the front desk. Believe all the reviews about their rudeness. They have to be owners family. They are horrible and place isn’t cheap. We stayed on a Monday night, not...More

A bit outside the hustle n bustle of historic center. Large room, clean.... wouldn’t use the a/c as it was quite musty- or maybe just full of spirits:). Basic property, but also most inexpensive we found in Salem. Restaurants in walking distance.

Your best bet is to take the MBTA train to Salem. You will find all sorts of options at the baggage claim area. Taxi lines are right outside the door.

Yes, if you like to walk it's probably 20 minutes from downtown. My son and I did it several times when we stayed at the Clipper Shop Inn. If you decide that you don't want to walk, a cab ride is only a few dollars.
