A bit outside the hustle n bustle of historic center. Large room, clean.... wouldn’t use the a/c as it was quite musty- or maybe just full of spirits:). Basic property, but also most inexpensive we found in Salem. Restaurants in walking distance.

Yes, if you like to walk it's probably 20 minutes from downtown. My son and I did it several times when we stayed at the Clipper Shop Inn. If you decide that you don't want to walk, a cab ride is only a few dollars.
