In August 2016, I arranged for a 2-hour trail ride for 5 individuals at Bishop’s Lodge Stables. For 3 of the 5 riders the experience was good. However, one of the horses was very old and was not trail-worthy. He walked very slowly at first and then refused to move at all. The rider followed all the guide’s instructions but...

We had a great time on their trail. Our guide was awesome and the horses were very well trained . We really enjoyed the mountain views and would definitely go back again! We didn't stay at the resort, but when the renovationa are don't I would love to go back

The resort is closed right now [July 20216] and they plan to reopen in late Spring of 2017. The site is spectacular - wooded, peaceful, with a wonderful 'historic' feel to it. When the Resort re-opens, it is going to be amazing - so just keep that in mind when you are planning a trip to Santa Fe next year.

Bishops Lodge will reopen in the spring of 2017. It is a gorgeous property and the old hotel is no more so disregard my previous revue. This is not a renovation. I'm sure it will be wonderful but disregard all price quotes I or any one else gave you.

Fabulous mountain trails winding along the wooded hillsides go on for miles. The horses are smart sure footed quarter horses that are sure to please. I recommend taking the longest ride available as this is riding you won't forget.

The grounds are lovely, but exterior of buildings could use some maintenance and housekeeping. Room was enormous but also needs a bit of updating. Staff friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.

Large rooms in a multi room suite with a front porch with rocking chairs. The restaurant and bar were closed for renovation, but it's a quick drive into Santa Fe for restaurants. Lovely, restful place to stay.

This property was beautiful with stunning views. The problem was they were in a pre-renovation mode, so the ice machines didn't work, there were no microwaves in the rooms, the restaurant and bar weren't open. They did have a nice continental breakfast each morning. The housekeeping was lackluster. I would go here again when they are in optimum mode.

My family and I were recently in Santa Fe for a family reunion and stayed at Bishop's Lodge. Although the resort is due to start a massive renovation which resulted in the restaurant being closed, our stay could not have been better. The continental breakfast was stocked with various breakfast items and had good variety. They also provided a happy...

This was our 2nd stay here & we were absolutely delighted with the room, the grounds, and the quiet surrounding area. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that they now offer a continental breakfast with your stay. We had coffee on the balcony watching the deer below. Convenient to town as well! Going back in the Spring!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In August of 1851, a Frenchman, Jean Baptiste Lamy, arrived in the NM Territory as the first Bishop of Santa Fe. Here he built a private retreat; his chapel still stands today, now on the national register of historic places. After Lamy's Death, the land was acquired by the Pulitzer publishing family as a private vacation retreat. In 1917, the Thorpe family from Denver fell in love with these pristine acres, bought the property and developed the first resort in the state. Today Bishop's Lodge comprises 15 lodges for a total of 110 rooms ranging in sizes from 250 sq feet to 450, not to mention a 2000 sq foot Presidential Suite. Many of our rooms feature fireplaces and the majority all have outdoor access to patios, lawns or balconies. Our ShaNah Spa and Wellness Center which opened up in June of 2002 is a sanctuary where one can take time out to be nurtured by Mother Nature, guided by ancient wisdon and touched by angels. The experience may change your life. Other activities are abundant such as: trap/skeet shooting (offered to groups of 10 or monmre roomnights), horseback, pony trail rides, hiking, mountain biking, fitness center, excercise studio, outdoor pool, whirlpool and tennis to mention a few. Bishop's Lodge is located just 3 miles from the Historic Santa Fe Plaza. Complimentary shuttle service is provided by the lodge at scheduled times daily. ... more   less
