The Royal Hawaiian was a bit of a let down for me. Not having been to Hawaii for 20 years we wanted something special. The buildings and grounds are indeed beautiful and the beach access is one of the best for this area. We stayed...More
We stayed 5 nights in a standard room in the original hotel building. The room was a comfortable size, nicely remodelled and fully equipped. The best part was the excellent king size bed and the top quality bed linens. On the other hand, the soundproofing...More
The Royal Hawaiian is a wonderful hotel to stay at: it's has a beautiful beachfront property, wonderful staff, and historic Hawaiian decor and value.
Our room was spectacular. It had a beautiful koa wood door. The ceilings were very high. There was Hawaiian decor. The...More
This is one of the ultimate in all the travel destinations for us! We travel a good bit. My husband’s father was at Pearl Harbor December 7 but spent many R&R days here prior. We upgraded to the tower with their perks and were so...More
The royal Hawaiian is Iconic. I have been staying here for almost three decades. I prefer a room looking over the old courtyard that fronts the beach. But all the rooms are very nice. Have breakfast included in your rate at the Surf Lanai. And...More

As of Feb.1st 2018 the hotel concierge services has been outsourced. Although you will see people sitting at the hotel concierge desks they do not work for The Royal Hawaiian Hotel. They work for Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays and their job is to sell as many tours as they can-working on commission. They have little or no interest in actually helping guests with their needs (ie: dinner reservations, etc) Yes they are in hotel uniforms however, they are not the Royal Concierge that has always provided excellent guest service.
There were no bathrobes in our room and asking a few other repeat guests we've come to know around the pool there were none in their rooms .
Our lamp didn't work and the leg on our chest of drawers was broken.
Overall the hotel has declined, as I mentioned while we were eating a piece of plaster fell from the ceiling and it was still lying there the next day when we returned.
Without the concierge service I would not consider this a luxury collection hotel. To answer to the previous reviewer who questions the "credence of amateur reviews" The facts I gave before submitting my review )re: Concierge service being outsourced on 2/1/2018) at just that, facts- not subjective impressions.

Based on my stays at the hotel, regardless of what area of the hotel room you are staying in, the only club room is the one in the tower. I am not aware of any others. As lifetime platinum with SPG, I get access to all... More
Based on my stays at the hotel, regardless of what area of the hotel room you are staying in, the only club room is the one in the tower. I am not aware of any others. As lifetime platinum with SPG, I get access to all club rooms and am basing my response on this. I hope it is helpful.
You will love staying at the Royal Hawaiian. It is a beautiful facility with a great team. Be sure to stop by the Mai Tai bar to see Susan who works during the day Monday through Friday. She has been there for 30 years and is truly wonderful!
