I stayed at the Waikiki Sunset after receiving a free trip to Waikiki. If given a choice, Waikiki Sunset would not be the first (or fifth) on my list because of so many negative reviews (I highly value other travelers opinions!). I read the reviews...More
Stayed 3 nights in a 2 bedroom suite on 20th floor booked thru a Pleasant Holiday package. Great view of Diamond Head and partial ocean view (blocked by other high rise buildings). Desk staff friendly and location was convenient. Parking garage was affordable at $7/day....More
Expedia employees were rude and act like they are doing you a favor. You get better service at a US Postal Office in NYC. Expedia controls the hotel because: 1) They do 60% of the hotel bookings; 2) Have replaced the traditional tourdesk so they...More
Our family of four (2 daughters, 19 and 16) just spent 12 days in a one bedroom kitchenette unit ("superior" unit, I think - ocean side, 24th floor) at the Waikiki Sunset, and were very comfortable there. My husband was competing in the ITU World...More

We were there in December 2016 and our rooms had NONE of the negative comments mentioned by other reviewers. We had two one-bedroom units between our family members and were very comfortable. I don't know the age of this condo - but it looked to us like it has been nicely maintained. We were very pleased.
Keep in mind that this is the tropics; ants, flies, cockroaches, geckos, etc. all live here too. As a guest, keeping food areas free of crumbs, closing all containers tightly, putting open items in the fridge (like cereal, crackers, cookies) is wise. Always close the screen door to your lanai. If needed, the property usually can come and spray in your room or provide a can of bug spray. If worried, bring your own (helpful for picnics) and mosquito spray if you travel to humid areas especially at night.
