My stay at Dar Ahansal was one of the highlights of a six week program that had me in various venues throughout Morocco and Tunisia. As an eco-lodge in a mountain village, Dar Ahansal incorporates the best of its surroundings, being constructed from local materials using local architectural styles within and without.

Youssef Oucaldi and his family and their staff were terrific hosts. The food was good, the service quite genial and welcoming. It really felt like being in a private home.

Visiting the village of Amezray (don't miss the women's weaving cooperative) and the neighboring village of Zaouia Ahansal were fascinating -- try to be there for the weekly souq on Mondays!

Dar Ahansal was my base and home for 4 weeks. The accommodations far exceeded my expectations. Comfortable, well-appointed rooms were a highlight of the stay. The menu and meals were delicious and all of the foods were grown locally and organically. The owner, Youssef Aucaldi, was gracious and very welcoming.
I would highly recommend this beautiful establishment, a diamond in the rough.

Dar Ahansal is definitely the best place to stay in the region! The guest house is beautiful, clean, and well located. There are great views and the rooms are big and comfortable. Further, the service is wonderful. Everyone is so friendly and hospitable and work hard to make your stay amazing. An important bonus is how incredible the food is! Everything was perfect! 10/10 recommend Dar Ahansal to anyone looking for lodging in the area!

We stayed at the Maison D'Hôtes Dar Ahansal in mid-April 2018 and the rooms, as well as the eating zone / restaurant were very cold. When we asked for the remote for the heating system in the rooms, we were told that this would be 100DH extra and, as there were quite a few power outages, the heating wouldn't work when the power is off. When then decided to stay in the eating zone where there was a fire. However, at about 8pm at night (we were served dinner at 7:30pm), there was no more fire wood and when we asked for more wood, we were told that there is no more wood because it would be too far away to fetch more. Finally, starting from about 8:30pm on, the receptionist lady started to impatiently walk up and down behind us, and finally letting us know that she needs lock the dining area at around 9.30pm.

The food was ok. Although dinner was served mostly cold (rice, vegetables, and chicken). The breakfast was ok, too (the bread was from yesterday and not fresh).

When we went back to our rooms to pack after breakfast, the receptionist came knocking on the door, telling us that we need to pay and check out at around 10:30am.

The house, the rooms, and the gardens are very nice and the view is amazing. The beds are comfortable and the water pressure was good. The internet wasn't really working - we barely managed to send emails and had to ask at the reception for the internet to be 'turned on', evertime we wanted to use it.

All in all, although a beautiful place, we did not feel welcome during our visit, apart from the initial tea we were offered when we came to checkout the hotel.

One of the most beautifully located and comfortable places I've stayed. Extremely hospitable, wonderful staff that made our stay amazing! Delicious meals, and great friends were made. The accommodations were very clean, and made you feel right at home. The staff are engaging and care about making your experience positive. A truly magical place for anyone passing through or as a quiet destination in the Atlas Mountains.

Dar Ahansal is a gem in the middle of Atlas mountains. We stopped for one night after a long day riding the mountain bike across the Atlas mountain passes and were astonished by the beauty of this accommodation.
The rooms are spacious and and very tastefully decorated in moroccan style, they are very clean and quiet with a stunning view of the surrounding mountains.
Dinner is served in the restaurant it was tasty, the service very attentive and fast.
Definitely THE place to stay if you ever go to Zaouhat Ahansal for biking, climbing, hiking or just relaxing.

We were here with a group of 10 American women. We absolutely loved this place! Staff was kind, friendly and helpful (they even did laundry for us!). Food was so delicious. And the rooms are comfortable, with a rustic mountain feel (stone floors and walls, wood ceilings). Great views of the village and surrounding mountains, lovely shady veranda for reading and relaxing. Youssef, Said and Fadma were wonderful and Youssef is an experienced mountain guide. Highly recommended!
