I stayed here for 2 nights. Firstly there was a lady at reception who helped me with my booking as I had booked for the incorrect dates. She was most helpful. I’m afraid after that I haven’t really much else to comment positively about the hotel.

This hotel is definitely aimed at an Asian clientele and their breakfast is testament to that. Whilst there was food I could eat my options were limited and on the second day there was no cereal available. The 2 coffee machines were broken onboth days and staff just blatantly ignored this.

I was not advised at the time of my check in there was a shuttle service to town and when I happened to stumble across this option I felt I was putting the driver out.

The hotel claims there is a gym one of the primary reasons I booked, however there is no weights, the bike is broke, the treadmills are questionable and entire gym is filthy with dust.

The walls are paper thin so much so I could hear my neighbors unzip their suitcase. There is a nightclub or bar somewhere in the vicinity if your a light sleeper prepare for some late nights.

Finally and this has to be my pet hate I asked at reception where was the closest place I could hire a scooter. The receptionist did not understand and another man with good English stepped in to say the hotel could arrange with a company to bring one to the hitel for 9000. This was nearly double what the price is to hire a scooter in general. Needless to say I declined and walked into the town to get one.

The rooms were nice and spacious with good views. I wouldn’t stay here again definitely not for the money I paid in comparison to other options available. It’s too far out of town (not a massive problem), especially when the shuttle service is offered begrudgingly.

Some of the staff really don’t seem to care and just walk past obvious things that need addressing e.g the coffee machine needs fixing.

Huge hotel, decent room, bathroom easily flooded. In the shower a large piece of tiles missing. Very friendly floor staff. Poorly maintained hotel. Not a 4 star let's say 3. We were supposed to spend 3 nights there but after the second we were told that we couldn't stay because the host was going to be full...surprising?

We had to book this hotel after our original reservation was canceled in town due to overbooking. We figured this might be a good experience since it was outside a bit and it would at least be quiet and the views were nice enough. This was easily the worst hotel we had stayed the whole trip. From check-in to check-out, it was a big mess. When we got to the hotel, we didn't even get a hello from the staff. They conversed and barely acknowledged us. Tried to order some food for dinner, took them 2 hours and was a congealed mess. Next morning, as we are trying to get to breakfast, the door of the room wouldn't lock. We tried the card again and again and it refused to lock. Later, the door would only lock when the card was swiped (good luck getting inside!). This continued the whole stay. This drama forced us to miss breakfast on our final morning since no one showed up to help us lock our door despite calling and asking the cleaning staff for help.

After breakfast (limited options and the food was covered in flies), we needed to get into down. Apparently there is a free shuttle but it only runs during certain times and they refuse to drop you anywhere but one random point (our destination was literally up the street). If you go into town for dinner or for the night market, you have to get home on your own (fair enough) but the tuk tuks are around 100,000 kip (US$11.50) for a 30 second ride. They did not negotiate (at least for us).

Our final night there was some sort of village wedding going on with ridiculously loud music going into the night. Literally, like someone was playing something we could hear full volume in our room. The hotel did nothing to mitigate this situation even after we saw multiple other guests complain. No earplugs were provided. They made no effort to see when this party would end. I have a hard time believing that in a small close-knit community there wasn't someone or an official that could have told the staff when this racket was ending.

The next problem was the smoke smell. I guess this is a smoking hotel because the smell could choke you. We smelled it strongly in our room and in the halls (despite no smoking signs plastered everywhere??). It was disgusting!!! I have never been to a hotel with a stench so strong.

They also have a sign in the front that you have to pay 100K for bringing in outside food. Are you serious? Have you ever heard of such a rule? If you are going to charge a fortune then offer a decent menu!!

Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere in town where at least you can walk to things. If you are looking for a pleasant stay outside the downtown, this isn't it. We had told them several times we are going to write about our experience and the staff didn't even seem to care. That speaks volumes to me!

For those who can’t be bothered to read as I wrote a novel lol. Here is the short version -

The construction still taking place, the ability to not be able to communicate with any staff, NONE of the restaurant food being available (yet restaurant still being open), and the fact that Morris harassed us and tried to get 4 men to get money off me for the booking off the side of the road = A TOTAL DISGRACE!!!!!

We booked this hotel basically because of the photos of the pool and mountain backdrop. The rooms are basic and poorly finished.
The owner is a Chinese businessman and the place is decorated with tacky Chinese decorations. Not to mention the place is still UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!
NONE of the staff spoke or even slightly understood basic English words (sorry to say but if you are relying on tourism it is helpful to learn a few basic words like “room”, “order food”, “possible to change room?”).
There was one man, Morris, who is their “systems trainer” or something, he spoke basic English so we communicated with him for the whole 14hrs we endured there (we had 3 nights booked but moved for a mix of reasons being we needed to make a new travel plan due to COVID-19 and also just how poor the hotel was. We couldn’t make any outside phone calls, my
Vodafone plan doesn’t work in Laos, their hotel reception phones can’t call any other country and the room phones can only dial reception....)
We went to go to their restaurant for dinner and (this was the best part) they gave us 3 A4 sheets of paper and ALL of the items had stickers on them saying “NO”.... so none of the food was available....not sure why Morris walked us over there to eat dinner....
We asked Morris if he could please call us a tuktuk to get to town and he said it is too expensive “50,000kip pp” ($10AUD pp) - the town is like a 3min ride away. He told us to walk. But then somehow there was a free shuttle from the hotel. VERY CONFUSING??!!!

We decided to leave the next morning as all
Australians are being advised to get home ASAP
as flights are being cancelled etc so we needed to leave Vang Vieng and make it to Vientiane to try and get home. But wow, this was the kicker!!!! They organised a bus for us, first it was 50,000kip pp to Vientiane (3hr bus ride for same price as going to town???!!), then when it came time to pay it was 100,000kip pp.
We didn’t have enough cash so Morris said “that’s ok, driver will take you to ATM and you give him the cash”.
Driver took us to ATM then back to the hotel. Not sure why.
Anyway I’ll hurry this up. We ended up paying 500,000kip for a private car as the bus was PACKED. Not enough room for people and their luggage. You literally have to sit on your luggage or carrying it.
In the 2 cars to Vientiane (Morris managed to call each driver twice to speak to me about paying for the room, which was booked and paid via THEN he got the car to pull over and pretty much we got hustled by 4 Laos men for money for Morris. Which I refused as I told him I would sort it out with when I get to Internet because they have my card deets and also we didn’t stay the entire length of the booking.

I recently stayed at Lisha Hotel, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The bathroom had a constant foul odor, and the plumbing system was a nightmare. Every time I took a shower, the water would flood all over the bathroom, reaching the toilet and sink. To make matters worse, there was a big gaping hole under the sink that allowed lizards and bugs to come into my room, which was unacceptable.
Despite claiming to be a four-star hotel, Lisha Hotel fell far short of that standard. I would rate it as a two-star hotel at best, and I would give it a mere one star based on my experience. The staff at the hotel were not helpful at all. They lacked English language skills and were unfriendly. When I asked about train tickets, they claimed it was all sold out, even though I later found out that I could easily purchase them at the train station myself. Their misinformation and unhelpful attitude made my experience in Laos very difficult, and it has left me with no desire to visit the country again.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend booking at Lisha Hotel. The foul odor, plumbing issues, lack of cleanliness, unhelpful staff, and poor customer service are not reflective of a four-star hotel, and it did not meet my expectations. I would advise looking for alternative accommodations to avoid similar disappointments during your stay in Laos.
