This the second time I stayed at Laos Haven and both times I was quite satisfied. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with reliable wifi (always worked while I was there), refrigerator, well placed sockets, aircon, safe, good lighting and a balcony with a door wall that allowed for good natural light. The location is excellent--close to everything but away from dead center so there was not too much noise at night. Michael, the friendly owner, lives on the premises with his friendly cats and is always available should a problem or question arise. He also speaks and writes English well and will responds promptly to messages. Should I return again to Vang Vieng, I will definitely stay here again.

I spent two nights at Laos Haven Hotel earlier this month and really liked it. The room was a good size as was the bathroom and the hotel is well situated, walking distance to various restaurants, coffee shops and not far from the river. Breakfast was a bit lacking for westerners who might prefer bacon and eggs.
The owners, Michael and his wife, were very helpful and always available for a chat and to book a tour. I would definitely stay again.

I am solo travelling round Asia and stayed here for 3 nights. The beds are comfy, the rooms are clean and the owner has been incredibly helpful throughout. I was recommended to stay here by a friend and I would recommend to any of mine who passes through. I had a problem last minute with needing to change bus because a friend of mine fell ill and the owner was understanding and changed my bus for me no problem. A lovely place to stay and very close to the social areas if you want to meet people.

6 of us stayed at this hotel on recommendation from some other friends who'd been there the week before. When we arrived we were really happy with what we'd got and everything seemed to be ok. About 3-4 days in, the owner Michael brought out a random bill that we supposedly hadn't paid. When we asked him whose (out of the group) it was and when it was from, he could only say that it was ordered when we were "drunk" and we clearly couldn't remember it (convenient to say the least.) At the end of the day it was only £6 so we subsequently discussed who it could be. Then some woman who has been mentioned in the previous reviews of this hotel came out from the back and started going crazy claiming she'd call the police and immigration. Then Michael (owner) also got on the band wagon claiming that we were being aggressive even though not one of us has raised voices. That night we managed to calm the situation down but when we saw the woman the next day she again tried to start confrontation. Also, my friend got charged 15 pounds for supposed bedsheets with paint on it which seemed expensive even bu european prices for one bed sheet. As a result we left what could have been a good hotel with a very sour taste in our mouths. For the remaining 6 days we went out of our way to not spend another penny at the hotel.
I appreciate they are trying to earn a living but considering he had to owe people from our group money due to a lack of change, to be treated this way was really poor. After all we were supposed to be guests at his hotel.
P.S We are still owed some money.

Stayed here a few weeks back with 5 of my mates. We rented 2 rooms...a double with two beds and a dorm room with 4 beds. Everything was suitable and the price was decent. However, the staff were completely and utterly useless. They never cleaned our rooms or replaced toilet paper/towels/etc. They lost 4 of our room keys when we left them at the front desk and then tried to make us pay for them. The woman, who seemed to be the manager, actually screamed at me one night when I came back to the hotel because I left my key with a male employee who was working at the front desk. She told me that it was my fault that he lost my key and wanted me to pay her for it. The final straw was when we checked out she tried to say we stole or lost 2 towels. We had turned them in the day before for fresh towels which never arrived. She wanted to charge us an astronomical fine and then threatened to call the police on us when we refused to pay her. She also refused to to give us our change because she said they were putting that money toward purchasing new towels because we were thieves. By the end of our stay I came to realize that most of the people working at this guesthouse were just plain crazy. Needless to say I would not recommend staying at this place unless you like crazy people and are not a imaginary towel thief.....

Read all my posts, it can be excellent comments to the worst everywhere in the world, I travel a lot and I am just objective: when it's nice I always write it to advice the place to travelers... I am not vindictive and myself I don't really care, if there is a problem reported to me only by one person, I never report it on Trip Advisor, when the full group report me the same problems, I have to report it: the opinion of several people will always help future travelers. For the late check-in, only a couple was angry, I faced the situation by bringing the group to a restaurant with a nice view, I am used to find a last moment solution for my groups and they were happy with this moment at this restaurant. Instead loosing your time by injuring yours guests (who will report it on Internet and to their agency partners) you should clean yours rooms, yours towels, yours beds, your pool... I know that it's a wet area, do like others: buy a dryer machin! Clean rooms with Javel and anti fungus, it will be clean and smelling well...
