We were looking for a quiet place to relax for a few days and this worked perfectly for us. We were aware of the location so it didn't bother us but it needs to be clarified that the hotel is far from Vang Vieng and the tuk tuk costs 150,000 kip one way. From what I understand the other way of doing this would be to take the shared minivan to the village and have the owner pick you up from there. They offer a free pick up and check in and check out. Since we didn't use the free pick up at check in we got one when we were going tubing to Vang Vieng. From the road you can then catch a minivan to Vang Vieng for 20,000 kip. The return is not worth it if there are 2 of you as you have to pay 50,000 each to the village plus 30,000 from the village to the resort. That aside, it is a great little hotel. They have a beautiful lakeside location and lovely chalets overlooking the water with their own private terraces. Thw room is spacious and comfy, everything we needed was there and the drinks in the mini bar were reasonably priced. The hotel has an onsite restuarant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We usually only had breakfast and dinner and just had snacks or instant noodles for lunch. The staff were polite and always stopped to have a chat with us. A lot of the time, we had the whole pool to ourselves. The hotels offers free kayaks to for you explore the area which we took advantage of. The food in the restaurant was great, especially dinner. It was also fairly priced. The breakfast needs a little variety as they only offer eggs (fried or scrambled), sausage and toast. After 5 days, it is a bit boring. It would work best to have eggs, pancakes and perhaps like a porridge or noodle soup and given how small this resort is you could just people to say what they want the next day to reduce wastage. We had that in another hotel and it worked well. Perhaps also offer some fruit juices. Another thing is that I haven't seen a drinks menu so apart from what was in the fridge in view you couldn't see what else they have. It's a missed opportunity as they could be offering some cocktails as an happy hour etc. Given the remote location, I think it would be also good for the owners to perhaps add a ping pong table and some board games as there is nothing to do there in the evening. We had a laptop with netflix but not everyone will. Overall, it was a great hotel ina stunning location and these are just minor improvements that can be easily implemented.

This resort is absolutely fantastic.

The location of the bungalows with the view to the lake is perfect.
You get free use of the kayaks and can start right away to a tour through the lakes with the uncountable amount of small islands. Wanna relax at the pool? There is a clean one for you as well.
The food they serve is yummy, nothing too fancy, but totally solid.
The owners and the team are very welcoming and in for a little chat.
Rooms are very clean, the bed super comfortable, an A/C and fan if you need it are there. We only used it scarcely since the temperature around the lake is a bit lower than eg in Vang Vieng.

If you're a nature lover and like it calm and love serenity, this place is a go-to.

Thanks a lot for your hospitality

Bear in mind that this hotel is not in Vang Vieng, but on the shores of the Ang Ngam reservoir/lake. It's about 45mins drive from Vang Vieng. Having said that, it is absolute perfection in its simplicity. If you want 24hrs to read, swim in the lovely pool, canoe on the lake, then this is your place. The staff are friendly and helpful. Just make sure your driver has directions!

Very nice facilities and we've been lucky enough the enjoy the place by ourselves. The pool was great and not too cold despite us visiting during the cold period. Room was very nice with a great view and food was excellent !!!

It's all about the location!!! So serene and blissful.
We loved our stay there. The rooms are right on the water edge. The room is big and opens up on the deck overlooking the lake.
The pool is so inviting.
Food at the restaurant is nice. A bit on the high side by Laotian norms. Breakfast is basic.

The bathroom needs improvement pls. This is the only minus point.

Access to the resort is quite a bumpy ride but worth getting there.

Nearby the touristic town of Vang Vieng is the Nam Ngum Reservoir. I didn’t even think to stay near the reservoir until we found ourselves desperately looking for an available place to stay somewhere in or near VV the day before.

It was hard navigating in the dark after 5 hours of dodging dust, exhaust fumes, scooters and pedestrians on the road, but when we finally arrived from Vientiane it was well worth it! It was like Buddha stepped on Earth and his footprint made the reservoir.

The bungalow was nicely kept. The bed was great! And my travel partner said he had the best sleep ever at the Green View Resort.

What made it for me was the views that you get during dusk and dawn. Absolutely miraculous! So tranquil. I felt all my stress disappear during those days at the resort. Plenty of time for free kayaking, journaling, reading and mindfulness.

A special thanks to Mehdi and Nabil (the French bros), Sin and Soum (the Laotian bros) and the housekeeping staff for making it an unforgettable stay. :)

First, it is not in vang vieng, 40 min away by car. So it is tough and expensive (20 usd dollar round trip) to come back or to go to vang vieng down town.
Second, it is so difficult to find the location of the hotel after sunset. And the hotel does not give you any guidance and ignore your phone calls after 7-8 pm and no local drivers know where it is. So make sure to be there before it gets dark. Personally, I made it to arrive the hotel’s parking lot and failed to find the hotel even from there.

My husband and I visited this little basic yet charming resort twice this year. First was in Jun, too hot for us but we still enjoyed it that we decided to come again. Second visit is like coming home. The weather is pleasant in Dec, day time around 28 degree Celsius, night time about 16-20. They light up the campfire by the restaurant to keep us warm. The food prepared by the kitchen is so yummy that customers from other nearby resorts come here for meals. There are only 6 bungalows, each with a big balcony facing the beautiful Nam Ngum Lake. We don't pull the curtains at night so we get to see the beautiful lake the moment we open our eyes in the morning. The birds chirping, sound of big fish jumping out of the lake, buffaloes' mumbling and grunts, hundreds types of insects calling, and the fishing boat passing by all make up a very nice and free orchestra. It's so relaxing lazying on the sofa in the balcony outside of room. Highly recommend this resort to all nature lover as this area is still left untouched despite the heavy construction of the train and highway projects in the region. And we just discovered that this is a good spot for milky way photo shooting. To get here by public transport from Wattay Airport, go to the Northen Bus Terminal in Vientiane (20min by taxi), then take a shared minivan to Vang Vieng, tell the driver to stop at Tha Heau. We got the driver to call resort after alight, and a tuk-tuk was arranged to pick us up to the resort.

Great place to spend a night or two if travelling between Vang Vieng and Vientiane. It's about 30 mins from Vang Vieng and 3 hrs from Vientiane. We caught the shared minivan from Vang Vieng to Vientiane and they dropped us at the village fuel station. Charged 50,000 kip which is the same as going to Vientiane but as we were taking a seat they could have filled to Vientiane, we thought fair. Lan at Bearlin Bungalows (where we stayed in Vang Vieng) organised the minivan and contacted the owners at Greenview to pick us up. Owners at Greenview organised private minivan and pick up to Vientiane which costs us 500,000 kip.
We had the pleasure of going to the resort by a motorised pontoon built by the owners. I knew then we were going to like this place. The bungalows are spacious and very clean and the view over the lake is stunning. We sat and watched the village boats and fishermen go by, went kayaking (free kayaks to use) to try and see the monkeys at Monkey Island (not successful) and swam in the clean pool.
The resort is very peaceful and is a great place to chill and just enjoy the changing scenery throughout the day. Food and drinks are well priced (same as in Vang Vieng) and food simple but tasty.
The two French brothers who run the resort were friendly and helpful in arranging transport and providing information about the area.
This is a simple and rustic resort where it is all about down time and enjoying the lake and scenery, if you’re into that then I would highly recommend.

We had planned to stay for 2 nights but left after one, but paid for 2. To be fair we had a long talk with the owner who drove us to the bus. He was very attentive and promised to correct some items.

When we arrived we went swimming in the nice pool. The stairs are part of the pump/filter housing. There is no handrail. When my wife climbed out of the pool she slipped on the wet tiles fell striking her back on the edge of the pool and fell back into the water. (Big bruise there now but not seriously hurt) That seemed like an inauspicious start! We reported this just for information and were answered with a shrug. The next morning we went out in a kayak. All seemed fine at first but after a few minutes the kayak became impossible to control and was riding lower and lower in the water and finally turned over. We were fine. We could stand. We were not able to pull the kayak up on the beach. We discovered that there was a plug missing and that the hull that was supposed to contain only air had taken water and was swamped! Again our report was met with no response and no attempt was made to take the kayak out of service or fix it.

The room was nice. I've never understood the advantage of flooding the whole bathroom just to take a shower. The resort is located in a beautiful spot but hard to reach and a $30 trip from Vang Vien. Once you arrive on your own you must depend on hotel staff for transportation to the little local town. Meals are served in their restaurant.
This should not be listed with hotels in Vang Vien as it really is nowhere near there.

Hi. I cannot remember exactly how much the food cost but it certainly wasn't expensive. The menu was really good and food was delicious. Take enough for what you'd usually spend on a mid priced place. Enjoy your stay and I hope this helps a little.

It is about 26km outside of vang vieng in the tha heua fishing village. You can look up nirvana resort or the sanctuary to guide you to the location as they are nearby too and may have clearer map locations
