The Hillside Residence. The hillside is about a 12 minute walk from the main “downtown” eating area which is no big deal, but at night the little pot holed, rock covered side road on which it is situated can be a bit of a challenge. That being said though, the “Hillside” is a great little place to stay. Whilst it's...

We would highly recommend the Hillside Residence (and Phonsavan in general) on a number of fronts! We had debated whether to go there — it’s out-of-the-way, and a big time commitment — but we were tremendously glad we did. We chose the Hillside Residence for the combined good price and what sounded like helpful guidance with tours. Before arriving, we...

The hotel is a bit away from the main street, which means it's quite at night. ;-) you can easily walk to all the important things in town (which is actually not much...). The owner is very, very friendly and helpful. He made fresh breakfast for us every morning. The rooms are very clean and they have a nice little...

Like others have said, the owner is a very friendly guy. The hotel is clean & rooms have balconies, but it's nothing fancy. It was still abnormally cold when we arrived in Phonsavan, so sitting out on the balcony was not an option for us. We piled on the blankets in order to be warm enough at night, then walked...

We had a fabulous time here. The guesthouse is run by a very friendly family with a great sense of humour. The hotel was clean and welcoming. We had a room upstairs with a view. Breakfast was normal for Laos, eggs, roll, juice and coffee. Shower was hot! We are in our 60's so we did find the mattress hard...

Owner her does his best to ensure a good stay. The place is comparable to may properties in this area - aged and worn, but clean. This place is about a 10 minute walk to the restaurants and tours and bus station, which may make it a bit quieter. Please know that the Free Airport Shuttle is one way only...

Don't expect to find 4 or 5 star accommodation in this town. The Hillside Residence could be a lot better if they changed one thing.Beds are generally hard in South East Asia but they took it to another level.Did not get a lot of sleep on our two night stay as the bed was rock hard. We enjoyed our two night stay here. The owner was really friendly and welcoming. He put is touch with a great guide for our tour around the Jars. The room was comfortable enough and the shower was lovely and hot. The breakfast was filling and set us up for a day sightseeing. It is only a 10 minute walk from...

This is a nice little place. Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable, which is exactly what we expected. Nice breakfast area and open air upstairs balcony. Wifi was better out here than in the room. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and spoke reasonable English. He organised a motor bike for us and it arrived within 15 minutes of...

We didn't stay long here, just one night. But our experience here was positive. When we arrived late in the evening, the owner was very friendly meeting us, arranging for our early morning breakfast, and recommending us to a nearby restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was next door (Bombe's) where we had an excellent meal, and spoke to the owner...
