Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Mjög fín aðstaða. Fínar sturtur. Galli:
Vonlaust að fá góðan svefn hins vegar vegna hávaða á tjaldsvæði á þriðjudagskvöldi. Ekki mikið eftirlit með gestum með hávaða.
Very good amenities. Draw back: no surveillance if guests produced a lot of noice on a Tuesday night.

as i dont have car, so that just could take public bus to Skaftafell, and sleeping camp site is the only one choice for me. and camp site itself is basic but good fit for doing trekking. staff also nice. just don't choose near with main path area for camping as may have many curious tourists walk around & talk your camp even you are sleeping moment. that is annoying.

A superb location with glacier walks and lovely hikes at your feet. It is a very large campsite however it could be better. The ground is unusually hard for a campsite and could be pain to put the pegs in. The facilities like showers and dryers are good however charged for usage and tad pricey. With so many hot springs around Iceland, hot showers may well be free, specially around Skaftafell where it can be raining all day and really wet! There is a nice cafe at the visitor centre with a small grocery store for suppliers. There is also a little food van at the campsite called Glacier Goodies serving really nice lobster soup and other food. There is free wi-fi inside the visitor centre and cafe.

The first you need to know is that if you will stay at the camping you do not need to pay 1800 ISK for a parking in front of the information center. Nothing alert you of that.
The second is that they will rent you the camping at full rate even if they know that toilets and showers were closed "by reparation" but they didn't told us in advance. After a complain, the reopened the toilets and the showers which were working perfectly. A worker told us that they use to close them if they lack personal to clean them. And while telling us lies, they still were smiling. Never again

This is the by far best campsite in whole Iceland in price/service ratio. For ISK 1800/person (children are paying a small amount) you get a brand-new shower/toilett facility, wifi, places tocharge your phone. Only problem: no kitchen

This is definitely a great spot for exploring Skaftafell. The facilities were clean, although as almost everywhere in Icelandic campgrounds, more showers/toilets would be appreciated for so many tourists so be prepared for line-ups in peak times.
We somehow came here for a night by chance so we bought our stay online after parking our van which was a little mess for us. When we wanted to pick our "campground area" online and pay for it, the website said the chosen area was fully booked. We physically stayed there anyway and chose another area online and paid for that one with no issues afterwards.

This was an amazing campsite. Everything was so clean and modern. It was open during the winter which was great, although I believe some facility rooms were locked. There was a big room with multiple shower cubicles and a WC. There was also a disabled WC. These were both very warm. The showers were included in the fee and super hot. There was another room with a washer and dryer. Also sinks to wash your cooking equipment in. To pay, you visit the Visitors Info Centre which is two car parks along. We arrived after this was closed (check the times on their website), so paid the next day which they are fine with. Great views and access to Skaftafell.

If you’re looking for a place to crash for a night or few…this is the spot. Huge camping area - they have an expansive lot covered in grass. Hook ups for larger traditional campers as well as van life campers. The facilities (bathrooms and showers) are regularly cleaned and new. Yea you have to pay person and your vehicle but that’s a given anywhere. The key words here are regularly cleaned and relatively new. There is one washer and dryer in the place that’s FREE. Clean toilets and showers with warm water for FREE. There’s a food truck that serves 4 items that’s pretty decent for lunch. And the convenience of being at the base of the park is awesome. Not to mention that there are 2 tour companies that service the glaciers that operate from here so booking is super easy and convenient.

Great place - would highly recommend

Fantastic location for hiking, with stunning scenery if you’re willing to walk about 30 minutes from the campground. Numerous waterfalls, a viewpoint over a glacier, a flat pathway to a glacial lagoon, and many other hikes, both shorter and longer. Many other excursions available to book on site, like glacier hikes etc.
The campsite is basic but has decent showers, clean sinks, and toilets.
There is a cafe at the centre with lovely coffee (the brewed coffee was preferred to the machine), just what was needed in between hikes. The staff at the centre & cafe were very friendly and helpful.
Will definitely return and stay here again, hopefully.

We stayed 2 nights at this campsite in a campervan in the winter (March). All facilities were open except the outside washing-up sinks; however, this was not a problem as the sinks in the bathrooms were deep and big enough to wash up in. The toilets and showers were clean and the showers had good water pressure and heat - a great plus! Beautiful scenery and you're at the start of the short trail to Svartifoss waterfall - it was nice to walk this in the evening after the day visitors had gone and we had the spot almost to ourselves! The campsite was the busiest we stayed at during our trip, but we took this as a good sign!

Charging facilities, washing and drying machines, showers available. A bit more expensive than the average, but still affordable! For one night+ electricity it wad about 50€ campervan &4 people in the summer

If I remember correctly, the welcome center does not have the basics like that. They have maps, postcards, snacks, souvenirs etc. It's best to stop at a grocery store at Höfn if you're coming from the east and at Kirkjubaejarklaustur if you're coming from the west.
