Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Room was adequate fairly clean , reception on arrival was OK, people who were staying there were noisy till the early hours ie 3in the morning, it was cheap and cheerful but to be honest I won't be staying there again and wouldn't recommend it, does need to be improved

Room was cold and the floor filthy, as the window had been left open and debris blown in across the floor. I borrowed a vacuum, prominently on display in reception, and sorted it out myself. Don't think it had been vacuumed for a while. Even after cleaning, the carpet was stained and grubby. There was half a chip under the desk. At 10pm I discovered there was no toilet paper in my room, nor in the public WCs down the corridor. This time, reception was in darkness and the phone went unanswered. Entrance lobby and car park were also unlit and dark. No food whatsoever, yes the booking does point this out. Toilet cistern drips loudly, as the valve has failed. The least welcoming hotel I've used in years.

Friendly staff member - Shame it is closing down due to big refurbishment. Room was clean enough, kettle with selections of tea, coffee and biscuits. Room a bit tired but for the rate paid cannot expect more.

Room not clean. Water stains on the bed base. Good clean towels tho. Would not recomend this Hotel. Staff friendly. Not their fault this Hotel is run down and needs a full refurbishment. This Hotel is in a great location and would benefit from a full makeover.

oUR STAY HERE WAS BAD. LIKE OUR ROOM WAS NEVER CLEANED OR BEDS MADE IN THE 1O DAYS THERE. TORLET WAS PLUGGED FOR 10 DAYS TOO. NO, RESTURANT AS THEY SAY. CLOSED DOWN FOR GOOD ? A REAL POS .WE HAD JUST GOTTEN IN AFTER A 10 HR. FLIGHT and was looking forward to a nice dinner, NOT SO. OK where is the ice machine? WHAT ICE MACHINE NONE. ok HOW ABOUT THE VENDING MACHINE FOR A COLD DRINK . NONE. WE HAD TO ASK FOR TOWELS AND EVERYTHING. Our daugther was getting married so we choose this place. WE WERE SO WRONG. OH YEA THEY HAVE A TV. BUT WENT OUT ON 1ST DAY. SO NO TV FOR 10 DAYS. A REPAIR GUY CAMEOUT LIKE 2-3 DAYS AFTER. OH CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM, 2DAYS LATER CAME BACK. i'VE GOT THE PROBLEM BUT i HAVE NO PARTS . NEVER DID GET FIXED. TO TOP IT OF I found this HUGE MEAN LOOING SPIDER IN OUR ROOM. GOT HIM. AND NO KIDING ON SIZE. BIGGER THAN A OUATER DOLLAR COIN. Then next day the mate of the other spider came calling. gone. other than that your hotel was fine. Nothing about our stay here was clean. I asked for a HANDICAP ROOM. And got one. Bathtub had 2 handrails and that's it. Shower had a chair in it next to this piece of RUSSTED PIPE with no end fitting on it. not sure what it was but very pretty rust color. Restaurant looked like it had been closed for some time as chairs were on top of everything and lien was thrown around. GNM

We arrived at 8.30 pm 23.9.23 after long drive to an awful stench in reception and car park. Receptionist James said it was a young baby been allowed to run around with full nappy. Still could smell this next morning. Shown to our rooms .Room 4 was stifling hot, no pillowcases, no towels only 1 tea cup, net curtain and window still filthy from my last visit 31.8.23. Room 2 no towels, one tea cup, filthy bath mat, dirty toilet and bathroom fittings. James as on 31.8.21 cleaned bathroom in room 2 but said he didn’t have enough cleaning fluid. Also James he had no towels as hadn’t had a delivery but found 2 sets for the 4 of us. Said he had had to wash all bedding and dry it today due to no delivery. James also tried to sort the heating in room 4 but couldn’t. He kindly offered us room 7. The bathroom was stifling in here and couldn’t be regulated, we had to manage. One bed in room 2 very uncomfortable. Hallways and corridors in a very poor condition. Appreciate hotel needs refurbishment but to let rooms that aren’t clean and not fully equipped is totally unacceptable. James and Calvin at reception were kind and helpful and did what they could but they seemed to be fighting a losing battle with not enough staff or resources. James offered to see Calvin in the morning to discuss refunding our rooms. Calvin spoke with us and said he would contact his Manager and accounts and email us by the end of today. 2 very helpful friendly guys who seem to be holding the ship together. All in all, not a nice experience.

Unfortunately the booking.com profile and their website do not reflect reality. I always look for a breakfast and a bar when booking but both of these claimed facilities did not exist. We had a decent sized room but the shower did not work and we are no longer able to squeeze into a bath. When the room was not made up it really was the last straw. I suggested to the hotel that a refund was in order but have received no feedback.

Booking .com called this Cadars Hotel Restaurant & Bar . Day before I arrived a email arrived to say NO restaurant or bar just accommodation . Friendly chap on desk said they were letting rooms on Government contract ! A pub or McDonald's 10min walk away felt like a good 1/2 mile . a few single blokes hanging around hotel drinking tinnies and one family waiting for a visit from the social worker , looked like someone was sleeping in a old car in car park . Room was not as clean as I would have expected and the bed died 10 years ago . sorry nothing good to say about this BEST WESTERN HOTEL! google it but do not believe what you read :- Cedars Dining Restaurant Stowmarket Searching for a Restaurant in Stowmarket? Reminded me of Schitts Creek !!! ….I could never recommend this hotel to anyone, it was pretty dirty and grubby everywhere I looked. Our room hadn’t been hoovered and the drawers were filthy, it was horrendous. I received an email a couple of days before arrival to say it was a room only hotel and there was no bar or restaurant, so no breakfast was on offer. The bloke on reception was super friendly tho, so no complaints there.
