To be perfectly honest, I will first say that the Cardrona Hotel is a beautiful place. From the fascinating array of bizarre antiques throughout the establishment, to the spacious beer garden with a view of the mountains. Unfortunately, every now and then, a classic place like this falls into the care of a shirty backpacker. We called in on Easter...

Iconic in many ways, but they do not rest on their reputation. Friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in a room with a view over the garden. Spacious. Clean. Comfortable. Warm. Modern ensuite bathroom. French doors the garden. Very romantic. Lovely and quiet. Continental breakfast included was fresh and devine. Can't wait to return.

We had a great lunch at the hotel, a recommendation from family and also the BnB hosts we were staying with. The guy taking the order was helpful with gluten free recommendations and they had a few options for us, including some delicious polenta chips and aioli. Out the back in the beer garden there was some cool antiques -...

We stayed one overnight while traveling from Franz Josef to Queenstown. The hotel, dining room and pub feature authentic, antique decor including portraits of the original owners. The rooms are immaculate and contemporary but cozy. Our room opened out onto a large grassy area with a large open air fireplace and picnic tables. The pub had a decent beer and...

We stayed two nights at this unique, historic hotel in early April 2017. It was a delight from the moment we opened the door. While we were visiting in the slower season, there was a bustle from guests in the pub and adjoining dining areas. Several fireplaces aglow allowed for varied seating on couches, chairs, tables as one wished. Outside...

Loved this hotel. Beautiful setting and great iconic pub. Service was laid back but helpful. Rooms were lovely and facilities good. Food was delicious and the waitress was friendly and efficient. Only one complaint and that was because it was quiet they shut down the pub by 9pm because we were the only ones left. Couldn't get a coffee to...

At first sight you might be inclined to drive straight past but if so you would miss a treat. Admittedly the weather during our stay was perfect so the garden behind the hotel was a beautiful place to have a drink or a meal. The hotel itself is 152 years old and looks it inside but it offers 10 modern...

Lovely courtyard room and gardens, open fires, lounge area. Adjacent to lovely bar and restaurant area. Room great, shower pressure and temperature control could be improved but didn't cause a problem. Nice toiletries and breakfast included

We stayed only one night here and were very happy with this hotel. The room was small and lacked certain amenities such as a mini fridge (I believe we booked the last available room and there may be options on offer in other rooms) but it was charming, very clean and quiet. We enjoyed a great dinner at the in-house...

This vintage hotel offers good and spacious rooms plus quality bathroom. The bed was good and it was very clean. Very nice garden in the back, with entrance from the restaurant but also some of the rooms. We got room 10 and could hardly sleep because of a noise in the wall. Staff told us it is from the pipes...
