The check-in at the Aberdare Country Club was efficient, and the lunch was quite good. We were taken by bus to the Ark and given keys to our rooms. Rooms are very small with just the basics. A nice lounge area and game viewing decks. Unfortunately the night we were there it rained and the only animals we saw were...

We stayed here on the final night of our trip to Kenya This is a quite wonderful location right in heart of the jungle in the national park surrounded by trees and right next to a huge watering hole. This attracted a couple of warthogs, buffalo, plus 26 elephants including a tiny baby one. It was a great experience to...

A splendid alternative to the usual safari break - don't look for the animals, let them come to you! This 1970's built wooden accommodation nicely blends into the surrounding flora and has observation decks on all 4 floors that overlook a large water hole and mineral lick area. Elephant, buffalo, hyenas, various hogs and deer frequent regularly and the clever...

I am in Kenya often and have probably spent a total of twenty nights at The Ark Lodge over a dozen years. And I keep coming back, which is probably all the review anyone should really need. Because it's located in a huge National Park, The Ark's basecamp/check-in hotel is Aberdare Country Club, a restored British lodge with beautiful grounds...

We had a night in this excellent lodge and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms are excellent, the staff even better and the food 4* rather than 5*. We had been disappointed in Kenyan food in Nairobi and Amboseli so this was an enlightenment! The focus is the waterhole [lit at night] and we saw a herd of elephant frolicking in...

The usual itinerary is that you arrive at The Ark in the evening, check into the rooms, eat your dinner and then sit by fireplace for sometime and then move to observation deck. The animals come to the watering hole and you get to see them. The evening when we went, it was raining all evening so we got to...

Revisited The Ark after many years and it was still a lovely experience. Love the hide for game viewing. Simple adequate accommodation, food, and service. Lunch at the Aberdare Country Club a pleasant add on. Only complaint is that you are rushed through the park to and from the The Ark so you don't really see the park itself. Also...

We were very fortunate that there were not many people staying when we were there, so the experience was more personal and private that it might be with a full complement of guests. The viewing areas are excellent and we saw buffalo, elephants, hyena's, warthogs, waterbucks, and other animals coming to the waterhole in the evening and into the night,...

one thing i like is that when there is an animal spotting on the deck a buzzer in your cute room buzzes that tells you may procide to the deck to check the animal view from top.very good for buffalo fans like me.

This is a game-viewing lodge, and we were not lucky to see much game, but its unique situation and real remote-peacefulness was wonderful, and offset well by comfortable (quite small, but comfortable) rooms, good food and great service: a super experience. The bus coming down to the Ark from the Aberdare Country Club is not very comfortable, but it's OK,...
