We stayed at Z hotel during the second part of our honeymoon. We had just spent a week doing various safaris on the mainland. Our stay at Z was so relaxing. The food was incredible and the staff went above & beyond to make sure that your stay was great. We spent each night at Rooftops watching the sunset and having a delicious dinner after at either cinnamon or Sexy Fish. My husband and I ended up booking multiple treatments at sky spa as was impressed with everything.

Our stay at the Z Hotel was wonderful. After a very busy 3 weeks in SA we were ready for some down time and that is what we found at the Z Hotel. Proximity to the beach was ridiculously good. Possibly the best along the entire beach area in Nungwi. Food was delicious at all 3 restaurants on site. Roof top deck is a perfect place for drinks. Smaller hotel so staff we very accommodating. Made requests to staff in passing thinking it may be missed and always came through. Everyone always very welcoming with smiles. Check out Passion and Thyme for lunch. 2 minute walk.

Z hotel is amazing. The staff and service are outstanding, they are always attentive and available when you need them. The food is great, and having several high quality options for restaurants for food/drink on hotel grounds means that you don’t feel that you need to leave the hotel to have varied dining experiences if you don’t want to. The pool area is lovely and very well maintained with great views onto the beach and the ocean. It’s really nice that you can walk straight onto the beach from the pool and feel that you are part of the action on the beach but still in a secure and lush green environment. The hotel is exceptionally clean and well appointed, the rooms are of a high standard with great balconies. We will definitely return here and I would highly recommend.

Hotel is beautiful, excellent location and well situated right on the beach. Feels like a slice of paradise! The staff are exceptional and the service throughout all areas of the hotel is excellent, friendly and very attentive. The pool area is lovely, and the bars and restaurants have great views and serve very good food. Beautifully decorated and very clean in all areas. Would highly recommend and would come back without a doubt!

We stayed at the Z Hotel in 2017 and have always compared every beach trip since to it. There's just something about it that checks all of the boxes. When we went back in 2023 it did not dissapoint. We love that the hotel isn't too big and every room is close to the beach and pool. When we leave our room in the morning it never feels like we have to "pack for the day", because we're always less than a minute from the room. The room itself is just perfect. It has everything you need, a fridge, gorgeous balcony, coffee supplies etc. It's not a big, grandeous room but is just right for a beach holiday where most of your time is spent outside. The beach is one we've dreamt about since our first trip to Zanzibar. We do a lot of beach vacations and have learned that for us we like to have a bit of "life" to the beach we're staying at, even if that means some vendors. There was always a bit of action going on so always some people watching to do (my favourite was watching the local school kids come down to the beach after school and practice their back flips in the water). And from the beach loungers at the hotel you know you can watch it all and not be bothered (there's a security guard to ensure guests don't get pestered by vendors on hotel property). When you do leave the resort you will be pestered and if you're not interested just say "no thank you". Another great thing about the hotel is how much there is in walking proximity. Lots of shops, restaurants, ATM and local life. Oh and the breakfast (if you choose the option with breakfast) was so good. We loved the fresh fruit and daily smoothie and the a la carte breakfast items. All of the staff at the hotel, from maintenance, to security, servers, cleaners, front desk staff, were all so friendly and helpful. I hope to be back one day!!!

The entire staff could not be warmer and more friendly. The people were the best part of the experience. Food and drinks were fresh and delicious. Lots of local ingredients, amazing seafood, and unique drinks. Amenities more than we would ask for (incredible gym and rooftop yoga). Layout, landscaping, decor -- all of it is gorgeous. The operation is very dialed in. The beach and ocean are world class. Our only grief is of the beach. You literally cannot step foot off the premises onto the beach without being hassled by MANY vendors. Of course this is outside the hotels control, which is why I rated a full 5 stars. But you cannot possibly relax on the beach as it is a CONSTANT bombardment of people haggling you and not taking "no thank you" for an answer. I get it, they are trying to earn a living. But I am not interested and unfortunately it completely spoiled the ability to enjoy the beach itself. We tried to take a walk one evening and turned around after we were approached a dozen times within several hundred meters down the shoreline. This haggling persisted into dinner overlooking the ocean at the Sexy Fish restaurant. If you're there for an hour+ dinner, expect a few acrobatic acts to come through, do a 5 minute routine, then stand and stare at you asking for a tip. I expect this to be consistent with any other beach-front hotel/resort along the coastlines. It is what it is.

Everything about Z was engaging, from the excellent service and warm welcome of the staff, to the very high quality of the furnishings and decor. The pool and beach area are excellent, and the restaurants and bars are well decorated with excellent food and drinks. I would recommend Z without hesitation.

So glad that I cancelled my reservation at another place and stayed at Z. The experience was PERFECTION. I love that the property has all the perks you expect to find in a resort, but without being large. Zen-like boutique feel. The service is spot on and the feel of the place is calming and lovely. Manager Gemma is on top of everything, which made building my itinerary comfortable and stress free. In fact, the employees are all wonderful. The food and drink were all delicious: Vitalis in the restaurant Cinnamon made each meal feel special. For my final night, the restaurant was booked, so the staff surprised me by setting my dinner up on the beach. Took my breath away. I travel a lot, so I am not easily impressed. But I will surely return to Z one day.

This is a very special hotel ~ not too large to be impersonal but large enough to have some great facilities, including 3 eating areas with exceptional food, bar, spa, rooftop terrace for enjoying the views and yoga, and lounge area. The staff are so friendly and helpful all the time. We never had any problem when we were there finding a lounger in the pool or beach areas which were really lovely places to relax. The gardens around the hotel are very pleasant and the rooms have a terrace or balcony with a roomy shower and bedroom area. It was a great place to relax after our safari and we did not want to leave to come home. While we were there we did one tour through the hotel’s connected company coconut tours which was a snorkelling trip to Mnemba island which we really enjoyed with the bonus of seeing dolphins at the start. We can thoroughly recommend this hotel and our only slight downside would be the hassle from the traders on the beach which would be the case whichever hotel you stayed in in Nungwi.

We visited here for our honeymoon. The arrival, along some of the worse roads ever was ended with the large gates to the hotel and a very warm welcome. The decor was lovely and the gardens well groomed. We were shown to our room and were very disappointed. The rooms are tiny with little room to swing a cat. The lovely beds are ruined by cheap tacky televisions bolted to the top. I removed mine twice as they were just awful. The beds were comfortable and the view the sea was n ice. The seating outside on the balcony way awful and falling to bits. The curtains in the room were too close to the doors and came off the rail after opening the door. The drain in the shower had to be unblocked twice. The pool was nice with enough beds, that said more should be done to stop people reserving beds and then leaving them all day. The noise around the hotel was awful. Firstly the crows. The noise was way too much from 4;30am and continued throughout the day. The shops next door and the shouting was enough to ruin the peace and quiet. The beach is a public beach and you can't walk to the water without being stopped and harassed over and over again The beach itself was FILTHY. Rubbish all over the place and only got cleaned when I complained and then, only once. It was horrible. The staff were amazing and friendly Getting changed $15 for yoga, when most hotels would offer this free meant that only one person I know attended. The Sext fish restaurant will be a separate review as it was excellent and in my opinion makes the hotel! So many better hotels I think, especially for the price and everyone one I spoke to felt the same. I wouldn't recommend I am afraid
