Charming, friendly staff, lovely restaurant, good food. Family friendly. Gym. Yoga. Rooms cleaned twice a day. Gorgeous tropical grounds. Comfy poolside loungers. Soft white sand beach. The manager, Derek, and his staff are great. Very relaxing for 3 days after a safari. The only disappointment: there are sea urchins everywhere on the ocean floor, and the sea is very shallow. Even with water shoes, I didn't want to spend time in the ocean. We did go on a local reef & swim-with-dolphins boat ride (I'm glad I brought my own snorkel cause their equipment wasn't great). The dolphin part with a thrill -- brief close-up swims while a dolphin pod surfaced, and thankfully the boats didn't crowd the dophins. As for the reef, there are still many beautiful fish, but the coral reef is virtually dead; bleached, as in so many parts of the world. In my younger days, I saw colourful, vibrant reefs, but climate change is killing them, and they can't live in the warmer temperatures. Sad for the oceans and the people who rely on the tourist industry. This is a lovely R&R spot.…

The staff was friendly and accommodating. Right on the beach, unfortunately it's public so anyone can come up to you but they mean no harm. Pool is a great size, and food was a solid 8/10, even though it's one restaurant. I felt safe and relaxed here. I was also able to do a very late check-out since my flight was at 10pm. Everything was great here. Would love to come back again

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Zanzibar Queen. The hotel and facilities are absolutely beautiful! Great gardens, a pool, well appointed rooms, and a beautiful beach. The hotel has many thoughtful touches - a lending library, board games, lawn games, even a basketball hoop. It's family friendly without feeling like kid-central - a great balance for people traveling with or without kids. I was also impressed with their commitment to environmental sustainability, including having purified water available to refill plastic bottles so as to avoid more single use plastic. Wifi worked great throughout, though there was so much to do we managed to stay off of our devices for the most part. The restaurant was top notch - delicious food, with items to meet all needs. As vegetarians, we appreciated that there were multiple options for us at every meal, all very well prepared. I expect it's one of the best restaurants on the island. In the restaurant and throughout the hotel, the customer service was terrific. There were regular evening events like live music and some fantastic acrobats one night. One of the wonderful things about Zanzibar is that it's so welcoming and safe. We walked along the beach from the hotel to a town about a mile away and always felt secure. There might be people who want to sell you something or book your snorkeling trip, but everyone was friendly and understood when no was the answer. While in Zanzibar we had two amazing snorkeling trips. The hotel can help arrange them or you can book with any number of outfits. The hotel was very helpful in arranging airport transfer for us. I'd also emailed them in advance to book massages because I knew we'd arrive exhausted from travel. They were very accommodating and the massages were exactly what we needed. I'd put a lot of time into researching the island in terms of where to stay for proximity to Stone Town as well as snorkeling. I'm so glad we ended up at the Zanzibar Queen! Fantastic holiday destination in Zanzibar. Friendly staff, Cool environment, white sands beach ⛱️ with many activities to do like snorkeling, Visit to the village, yoga for yoga enthusiasts. Food is superb 👌, buffet breakfast and dinner with many options 😋 to choose from. Very relaxing and quiet place to relax 😌 and recharge your energy and recollect your mind. I would recommend it to any traveler keen on getting their value for money 💰. Try it and you will never regret. For all the activities the hotel can plan and organize it on your behalf including pick up and dropping off at the airport. Everything DONE ✔️ 🙌 for you.

If you are choosing a place to enjoy your holidays, getting away from crowd and enjoy peaceful moments, it’s definitely a right place for you. Hotel staff is very nice and helpful. Food in hotel restaurant is excellent, they offer different menu for lunch and dinner. Verify options for breakfast buffet, you will never feel bored for their food. Hotel offers yoga class on the morning daily except Sunday. Family or solo can also start with a “ Good morning “. There is a swimming pool, small gym room, different ball games for visitors to chill. Hotel is also connected with different Partners, no need to worry about the day trip prior arrival. They can plan everything for you including stone town visit, prison island , snorkelling. We just enjoy our time during our stay.

Deluxe Apartment Sea Facing- 10/10. Clean. Great size. Quiet. Excellent view. First floor, so avoided noisy neighbours above us. Decent, but small safe. A/C worked well. Bathroom - 10/10. Clean. Lovely shower. Bed - 10/10. Very large. Very comfy. Mozzy nets and turn down service at night. WiFi - 10/10. Very good, considering where we were. Worked fine down by the pool and even worked by the beach! Pool - 10/10. Good size. Nice and clean laid out pool area, with plenty of loungers and shade. Beach/pool towels provided. Gym - 8/10. Small, with a ‘multi-gym’ and dumbbells. No CV equipment, but room for a workout and some aerobic exercises. Did its job. Spa - N/a. Didn’t use. Staff - 10/10. From check-in to check-out, all the staff were friendly, attentive and most helpful. Special thanks to Abdul and Fatima in the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast/Dinner - 9/10. Stayed half-board and enjoyed it all. Breakfast was standard buffet, with an ok choice, that changed daily. Dinner was a set 3 course meal and on one occasion for Swahili Night, it was a buffet. All of these we felt were very good. Never went hungry! Hotel - 10/10. Could not fault anything with this hotel. The location at the north of the island is a decent airport transfer away - which in itself is an experience. The hotel grounds are magnificent and very well maintained. The peace and tranquility was a complete joy. It is right on a beautiful beach and the sea is lovely (although you’ll need to monitor the tides (and use the supplied sea shoes if you don’t bring your own)). Cold (bottled) water dispensers located throughout the resort. The appearance/decor/furniture is everything you’d want from a beautiful African getaway. It is always a pleasure to return to this unique hotel. It’s such a peaceful place to relax and unwind. This was our 3rd stay and as always the food and hospitality is wonderful. Since our last visit they have made a few changes, one being the addition of the beach front bungalows, nice touch!! The pool is the perfect size and we really enjoy listening to the local band while dining poolside for the BBQ night. Many thanks to all staff but a special mention to Kombo and his service team. They will certainly take care of your needs. Asanteni sana!

We had an excellent stay at the Zanzibar Queen as part of our honeymoon. The entire resort is beautiful and thoughtfully curated. It is right on the beach and has a wonderful large swimming pool as well. The resort offers so much including yoga, games, volley ball/bocce ball etc, scuba, live entertainment, spa services, etc. We always had something to do! The hotel even offers water shoes to borrow to use to go out into the ocean (definitely wear shoes in the ocean as many spiky sea urchins). We were very close by to our morning snorkeling trip to Mnemba Island. Our room was gigantic and very clean with a comfortable bed and ocean view. The restaurant’s food was delicious with so much variety (best tuna poke poke bowl ever). The live entertainment at night was fun. The staff was all very kind, welcoming and helpful. We just spent 5 days at the Zanzibar Queen Hotel; we loved it; small hotel, well located with direct access to a nice beach, large swimming pool, great rooms, very friendly staff, great food; perfect for a rest for a family. We strongly recommend this place
