Travellers' Choice
Situated on Zanzibar’s picturesque North East coast overlooking the turquoise Indian Ocean, it is as the name suggests, a little piece of paradise. From your arrival at Zanzibar Airport, the resort is a meandering 45-minute journey through un-spoilt scenery, passing typical African villages where the way of life has changed little for hundreds of years. At Ocean Paradise Resort & Spa, you will be greeted by a blaze of colors as you sweep down the imposing driveway passing through the entrance gate. You will be captivated as you arrive in the reception to discover a view over the resort and the azure blue sea. Mature coconut palms swinging in the breeze, white sandy beach, beautiful landscaped gardens, traditional style round chalets with pitched makuti roof, a stunning waterfall feature and one of the largest swimming pools in Zanzibar are just some of the sights that await you. A big smile and the greeting of “Jambo” will be the first words you hear, as you begin to feel the warmth that the people of Zanzibar are famed for.

We stayed a couple of nights at the Ocean Paradise Resort after our safari. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We stayed in one of the beach cottages, which are spacious and look cute. The resort caters to European tourists who are likely attracted to the all-inclusive package. The resort is about 20 years old and this is noticeable. The beach cannot be used during low tide, which is something all over Zanzibar. The beach is also public and there are lots of annoying mostly young men trying to sell you something and which are difficult to het rid of. The checkin process was clumsy and took long. There were also issues with the room that needed several follow ups. The resort and staff are really uninspiring, including the buffet style food.

Hotel's Favourite
We had a wonderful holiday in this beautiful hotel. What made it very special to us next to the fantastic food and the beautiful location was the kindness of the staff, it felt like everyone wanted to make us feel comfortable and create the most amazing holiday for us. We never experienced this level of honest service orientation before. Special thanks to Scott from Scottland who is doing a fantastic job managing the Food and Beverages department and beyond. The highlight of our vacation was the marriage proposal at the beach - the full team supported intensively on this and created a wonderful memory for us. Thank you so much! Highly recommended this hotel for couples who wants to spend a relaxed time together.

Stunng set up, but very old. We haven’t been welcomed at arrival. Took them 20 min to assist us. Rooms are spacious, but the bed is horrible. The mattress feels like a iron plank with a hole - worn out. The pillow feels like 1000 cotton balls.. giving no support. AC was noisy like a plane and was dripping water. If you want silence and peace.. don’t go there. Loud music played from lunch time onwards. Its for people who like to be entertained.

This was a perfect balance to a Kenyan Safari. The hotel was about an hours drive from Zanzibar airport and there is not a great deal in the area beyond the hotel. However the Hotel itself is excellent. We were there for four days. We visited the old Stone Town in Zanzibar, which has not a great deal to offer presently as the main two museums are closed for renovation, other than an excellent cocktail bar and restaurant the Cape Town Fish Market, just beside the dock. We also sailed at the hotel in beautiful bright blue water. We thoroughly recommend a snorkelling trip with a diving company which has an office in the hotel. The reef was magnificent for fish and clarity of sea- with a sea temperature of 28°C The hotel made every effort for the variety of food to be entirely different each night with a specific theme and the food itself was excellent. Thoroughly recommended.

We spent wonderful days at the Ocean Paradis Resort from February 6th to 17th, 2024. The resort exudes charm with its traditional architecture and spacious garden grounds. Culinary delights abound with a varied and rich offering. Additionally, there's a pleasant, non-intrusive evening entertainment program featuring live bands. We felt completely at ease thanks to the very friendly staff and management that maintains a very professional relationship with its employees. A big shoutout to Scott and his kitchen/bar/restaurant teams. Furthermore, the young and enthusiastic animation team contributed to our enjoyment and fitness with their activities, whether on land or in the pool. In conclusion, it was a very enjoyable holiday in an ideal environment with people who carry the warmth of Africa in their hearts.

We had 6 days here after our safari in Tanzania. The rooms are enormous and well equipped and the bed was great. There's a slightly strange layout of the en-suite (the rooms are like the figure 6, (with the bedroom being the round bit and the bathroom curving off to the side) but it was very comfortable and the balcony very wide. We could see the sea (all rooms face the sea) although it was in the distance as we were in one of the blocks at the back of the complex. The grounds are laid out beautifully though, and it only took a few minutes to walk to breakfast or down to dinner. The food is superb. Well cooked, tasty, and plenty to choose from. A buffet breakfast is served in the Ocean restaurant, on the same level as reception, and lunch (for those who have it) and a fantastic themed buffet dinner is served in the Jahazi Restaurant down by the pool in the evening. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and we were greeted every day with plenty of "jambo"s! There is entertainment every night, and I think of the 5 nights we were there, there was only one that we didn't enjoy very much. The rest were all great. There is also plenty of comfortable seating in the main part of the hotel, with a tiered seating system, all very comfortable and secluded. There's also a huge screen where films are shown every night. I would certainly recommend this hotel!

Ocean Paradise truly does what it says on the tin: offers a relaxing, beach oasis that will make you feel like you’ve arrived in paradise. After a very busy week of safari, with some disappointing accommodation, my family of 5 approached our stay here with some trepidation - would it live up to our expectations? It did and more. Having stayed in numerous 5* beach resorts around the world, I can say that at 4* Ocean Paradise matches up in nearly every category. Of particular note were the rooms - each of our three rooms were equally lovely, with turn down service every night and very prompt service from reception if we had any issues (e.g. our aircon remote needing looking at) - and the food. I am not usually a fan of a buffet, but the food at Ocean Paradise was truly exceptional, at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Indian night on our final evening was superb! Likewise, you would struggle to find a better breakfast anywhere. The food and beverage manager Scott deserves tremendous applause for running such a well oiled machine, especially in light of the extremely dodgy food we received from our hotels elsewhere in Tanzania. Scott could also not do enough to help us, going above and beyond to make sure our mother received a very special birthday evening, and even helping us to arrange our excursions and giving advice on where to go. Our stay would not have been the same without him, so thank you Scott for all that you do! Overall I cannot recommend Ocean Paradise enough, and to address a concern I had from reading the other reviews prior to arriving: yes, there are ‘beach boys’/sellers on the public area of the beach (not the hotel area where the sun loungers are), as on all beaches in Zanzibar, but we found that after a firm no on the first day they mostly left us alone, and didn’t hinder our enjoyment of the beach. It would certainly not prevent us from returning!

During our stay at Ocean Paradise, my girlfriends family and I had the most wonderful, relaxing and pleasent six days we could have ever dreamt of. We arrived late in the evening after a long and tiring journey, and was met by the very helpful receptionstaff who quickly and effectively escorted us to our beautiful rooms. The rooms were nice and clean, and are all equipped with a nice balcony with ocean-view. The following days all staff at the resort was so friendly and helpful, and combined with a unique location with the beach at your doorstep, a beautiful poolarea, fun activities such as volleyball tournaments and water areobics and off course lovely breakfest, lunch and dinner made this stay unforgettable in the most positive way. I would like to mention the resorts PR-manager Scott (from Scotland), whos professionalisme and wonderful lifespirat and carisma, helped us with some great trips around the island showcasing some of Zanzibars best and unique attractions. Within a few minutes of the first breakfest, Scott introduced himself to me and the family, and we immediately recognized the highlevel service, and felt very welcomed. He stands out as being a great member of the staff, and every hotel, resort, restaurant, etc., would be lucky to have him as their front man. I would also like to mention Venustro, the beach waiter, who always had a smile on his face and ran the beach and pool-service like a champ. Mohammed and Matthias, two trainees who really stood out as great talents of the profession with their excellent way of being themselves and always went out of their way, to make us and the other guests happy. I especially remember the party-evening where the two was on the dancefloor all evening showcasing some of the continents best moves - it was contagious in the best way possible. All in all the six days we had at Ocean Paradise Resort and Spa, was so wonderful that the family and I all agreed, that we should have booked more days at the resort. But I am sure this means, that we will be back. I would recommend the resort to anyone who wishes a relaxing and fun vacation in one of the worlds most beautiful Islands.
