Very popular with business travellers in the energy industry this hotel is located right on the river. There are a number of restaurants in close walking distance. The best thing about this property was they kindly upgraded me to a large apartment. The second best thing is the proces are extremely reasonable if you’re on a corporate rate. As for the opportunities for improvement, it was strange that they only give you one towel for your bathroom. I called reception to ask for a 2nd one and was told it’s not possible. So I waited until later and spoke to reception a 2nd time, explaining a needed 2 towels - again it was clear this was not something they do. That in itself earns the hotel a 3* review. They also only supplied three flat pillows and I only got the 4th pillow sent up on 2nd request. The other annoyance was the internal heating. When I arrived my room temp was 27C. Only after I shut the heating off, and open windows (-10C outside) could I get the temp down to a level where it was comfortable to sleep. Maybe it’s a cultural issue but the heating is set way too high. The other area for improvement is in food service. If you order a meal don’t assume all items will arrive at the same time, as you would expect. Only one of the two lifts were working causing delays during bus6 periods. What I liked was good little mini bar in reception area and nice spa with very inexpensive massage service.…

Nice location right next to the river. Rooms are clean and reasonably quiet. I stayed in one of the apartments on the 9th floor. Room was ok, but the airconditioning was clearly not up to the job and the room was pretty hot. Breakfast is ok with a decent variety of sweet and salted choices. River Palace is certainly not the best hotel I ever visited, but id does the job. The rooftop pool is amazing in summer, and the bar & restaurant up there is overall ok

Hotel with awful service. Being a regular visitor of the gym and restaurants of this place, security very rudely didn’t let me literally yesterday when I wanted to go to to the restaurant from the main entrance where I USUALLY enter and had no problems with that previously, I was kicked out from the lobby, and was asked to enter from the backside. Please note that I used to visit this hotel every freaking week before. Hotel claims itself as 5 star hotel. What a joke.

Nice exterior is diminished by “0” service inside and disgusting food in the restaurants. Rooms include small apartment area, bedroom and a good bathroom. It’s my first time in the hotel, and second in the restaurants. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Service people in the restaurants don’t know the menu, can’t recommend anything. They hardly speak either Russian or English. Well, another issue is that chef’s food is not only untasty, it’s dry, tasteless, sometimes disgusting while pretended to be Italian... Having Ginza next to you, guys, I would ask a master class from them how to cook and work in the service industry... Even Old Chagala has very good meals, shame to be so ignorant to your reputation...

I have been going on business to Atyrau for the last 15 years and always stay at the River Palace. When it was first built , byt the Renco company, it was known as the Renco. Call it the Renco and people know you as a regular visitor. There is now much more competition in Atyrau with good to excellent standard Western hotels. But in the summer I just love the roof top pool, bar and restaurant which has a party atmosphere. Service is varied, sometimes good sometimes disinterested, which is somewhat typical of former Soviet Union countries. Even after over 25 years the client is not yet king!

They have recently started to serve custom burgers in their in-hotel bar Pegasus. As a burger lover, I hae long felt the absence of better burgers in Atyrau, all the burgers in town were mid to low tier and with Pegasus, we have a heavenly good place to eat. They have a small form that you tick the components of your burger, from bread to meat, garnitures and other additions. Then it is prepared exactly as you choose, and you are then served a state-of-the-art burger. 4-5 types of bread (classic white, dark, tomato, etc), 5 or more types of meat (beef, lamb, pork, poultry and fish), classic garnitures with additions of fried mushrooms, jalapeno pepper etc, and sides like fries, bbq wings and some others are available. So there is plenty of different burger options. The seating is not very good, the bar chairs lack backrests so you just need to eat and leave, you can't sit on them for long, comfortably. The tables and chairs for sitting are very low, hotel reception type furniture, so they are also not very comfortable. BUT OH MY GOD THE TASTE! For burgers, it doesn't really get any better than this and I can close my eyes to all the other negatives for this level of taste. Good sized burgers, properly stuffed, greatly seasoned & expertly cooked meat, garnitures and sides. Pricewise, it is also very competitive for this level of proficiency. There are far worse burgers available in town with higher prices. This place was long long missed, and I am very happy that we have it now. I will go and have my burgers here whenever I crave for one, there are simply no other options are available for me anymore. Go have your double burger with mushrooms and onions with addition of bacon and fries egg, then come thank me. PS: I find it strange that the burger bar is much better than pizza restaurant of this Italian run hotel.…

Soviet-type institution. Strange rooms (massively overheated in winter) with yuk air fresheners that pump out fragrance every few minutes. Not good if you have allergies. Weird damp smell in the bathrooms, which is somewhat odd in a place with such a dry climate. Breakfast is bad - most of the dishes are more suitable for evening than morning. Waitresses in the restaurant seem unable to speak - don’t expect them to come to you; you will have to attract their attention if you want any service. Generally very poor, for a place that largely seems to cater to expats.

My summary would be an incredibly average hotel surrounding a fantastic pool The pros - great pool in basement pretty much unused - rooms functional - food in the Italian actually pretty good - top tip would be various garlic bread starters and the lamb kebabs and chicken curry The cons - being scammed for a bottle of red wine I didn't drink was not appreciated then being told by the reception supervisor when checking out that she would have to pay if I didn't - not acceptable - rooms temp really tricky to control - minibar not being restocked with snacks, no shop on site so important

I first stayed here for a business trip in 2003 for around a week which was most probably the best hotel in Atyrau at that time. The name was also having Renco at that time. It is still a nice hotel with good food and rooftop bar. The rooms are clean and location is close to city center. The staff are good and almost all of them spoke very good English. As I have been visiting Atyrau now for over 15 years, this hotel is from one of the oldest and good ones in town. Definitely recommended
