This is a no comforts jungle experience. The camp is very basic and not well maintained. Rooms consist of beds and side tables and that’s it. The sheets and towels while clean were threadbare. The ensuite bathroom was not very clean with a very dirty floor mat and the basin tap twists completely to one side when you turn it...

I have mixed feelings regarding our stay. First, the bad things......although it was a joy to see the animals hanging out at the restaurant area, there is a bad reason they do so.....they are fed by the staff. This includes the civets, monitor lizards, squirrels, and wild pigs. To me it defeats the whole purpose of experiencing the animals in...

This is a tough review to write because there is a lot to like about KJC. The food was really good and the two lady hostesses were delightful. They were friendly, helpful and even joked around with us. Plus, it was nice to see tanks of filtered water for guest use so we didn't go through dozens of plastic bottles...

Staff in jungle camp is very friendly and helpful. The accommodation is nice, you have everything you need in the middle of jungle. First day we saw an orangutan called "Lulu" passing the camp and many wild animals. The second day we went on boattrip to see elephants, it was amazing. Very recommend this place to everyone who wants to...

I'm only asking because, at Kinabatangan Jungle Camp, you're likely to get VERY close indeed! Getting close to the animals is all very well, let's be honest, it's why you go there. But you need to remember that these are very much wild animals; they live there - you're the visitor! How close? Well, fifteen minutes after arriving we found...

Although more simplistic and less stylish than some of the other camps, the staff and friendly small personable atmosphere of this place made up for that ten times. The rooms were nice, spacious and clean. The welcome and kindness of the staff members were faultless. Delicious food. Our great time here could not have been completed without our guide Aslan....

They picked us up at the hotel where we were staying, but they came 1 hour late. Not a big deal, but also not very professional. Our package included 6 activities: 5 river cruises and 1 that we could choose between day tracking and night cruise. We choose the day tracking, but this is something everyone can do by themselves....

A ten minute boat ride from the jetty of Kanpung village (Sabah, Borneo - 120 km from Sandakhan airport) ), will get you to this resort. The ride is superb as the river runs across the forest unfolding the charm as you move along. A warm welcome from the staff at the riverside followed by being led down a boardwalk...

The rooms themselves were a little disappointing given the money you're paying. The beds were pretty comfortable though and you have hot water after 6pm. The food was great and they were happy to accommodate us veggos. The staff were extremely friendly, a little overbearingly so. Although I'm not used to doing guided trips. Our guide was great, knowledgeable when...

This is a camp by the river, it's a bit rough but clean and comfortable and the food is quite good. The camp is close to the nature reserve and you can easily take a boat there. Unfortunately it's not as easy to spot animals as I expected, but this has nothing to do with the camp.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Kinabatangan Jungle Camp was established in the year 2004 in the lower Kinatangan Wildlife Sanctuary near the village of Bilit. The whole concept is simply truly jungle. Today, many repeat visitors especially birders still come to KJC to search for the very illusive Bornean Ground Cuckoo and others still try their luck to see the Clouded Leopard. ... more   less
