This hotel is a bit of a hidden gem. Very quiet location, no kids allowed so a very calm environment and never feels crowded. I'm guessing it's quite expensive compared to hotels in the area, but the facilities are fantastic especially in the spa areas, and there's a really relaxed and pleasant ambience about the place. Breakfast is a plentiful but fairly standard affair, dinner's a bit of a confusing combination of buffet/a la carte, but there's plenty to choose from and everything's delicious. The addition of a snack-style lunch between 12 and 4pm is a really nice touch too. My only real gripe was the lack of AC in the room, and it was a bit warm during our visit. Hard to justify retrofitting AC to all hotel rooms I guess as I don't think it normally gets too hot - however it was good to see a fan appear as soon as I asked reception for one. Another nice touch was the pillow menu - we swapped out the typically soggy ones you often find in Europe with firm ones which were much better. Those of a certain bashful disposition should be warned that there's a sizeable part of the wellness area that is for naturist guests.... just in case you're easily embarrassed by this. I have to say that for a reasonably old hotel, it's been immaculately maintained/renovated, with some modern additions, and the owners (I believe its a family business) should be congratulated on what they have achieved and the fabulous experience they provide. We'd hired a car from Innsbruck airport as we wanted to visit a couple of other places during our visit, and the vast underground Hotel car park made this a great option. There are some amazing walking trails in the nearby hills, and I'd recommend seeing the waterfall that's around an hours hike (the hotel organizes walks there as well) as well as the Achensee lake.

I had an amazing time at the Posthotel together with my 3 adult daughters last year July. We stayed in the beautiful Karwendel suites and thoroughly enjoyed the nicely decorated hotel. The Spa, Wellness area and the various pools are spotless and offer great relaxation and views. A special thanks goes out to the kitchen chef(s) and the kitchen team. They prepared wonderful meals for 2 of my daughters (due to special dietary requirements). Nothing was too much and we all truly appreciated the friendly service. Hope to be back soon!

Let me start by saying that the Posthotel is in a class of its own. It's a great hotel, with superb facilities and (mostly) fantastic staff. It's not on the lake, but this limitation is quickly forgotten thanks to multiple saunas and pools. I've spent a week, but I would have stayed much longer and I will definitely be back.
Having said that, and keeping in mind the price level of the hotel, there are a few elements that should be addressed.
The food is really good, but every night they made an Italian dish (pasta or risotto) that was invariably inedible. It's better not to attempt cooking things that you do not know how to cook, especially as the rest of the food was high quality.
The least impressive aspect of the holiday were the activities, mainly because the person in charge always spoke in German and hardly made any attempt to translate and involve English speaking clients, which is not acceptable for an international hotel. Plus, one day they gave me a faulty mountain e-bike, that ruined my excursion. And they did not even offer a discount on the bike rental.
Last, but not least, they not accept American Express cards, which is annoying considering the class of the hotel and that the average stay easily gets to the thousands of Euros.
Still, we are talking about an amazing place.

Dear guest, thank you very much for the good rating and for your effort. You took a lot of time to tell us about your vacation. That is very valuable to us. We are glad that you liked the spa and would have liked to have stayed longer with us. We're sorry you didn't like the pasta, but it's good to know that you enjoyed everything else. To a very large part, we have German-speaking guests, so our coach probably didn't have the self-confidence to speak English. We will discuss it. We would like to apologize for the bike rental, we will make it up to you next time. We are pleased that you would like to visit us again soon and wish you all the best until then! Best regards The Reiter family and the Posthotel Achenkirch team

We stayed for 2 nights for the Babymoon at the Posthotel in Achenkirch and booked with pampering board. This was already our third stay at the hotel after my parents recommended it to us (they were there 6-7 times themselves).

The room and spa were excellent as always – a real highlight of the hotel. Unfortunately, the service at dinner was a big disappointment, and that on both nights. Since I am pregnant, I had explicitly stated that I did not drink alcohol or have it in my food and that I only had meat/fish served through-fried. Nevertheless, 2 of 3 courses were served incorrectly on both evenings. Either a different dish arrived than ordered or there was alcohol in the sauces. At first, on request, attempts were made to prevent the alcohol from evaporating during cooking. After discussion, I then received the dish without sauce, as I had originally wanted.

This meant that my partner and I could not eat any of the main courses at the same time. The waiter unfortunately did not know which dishes contained alcohol or which dishes were even served. So he did not know the difference between a garlic cream soup and a barley soup, but claimed it was the right soup. Which sauces were included in the dishes was also a secret. Already after the first evening, I had lost confidence in being served a pregnancy-compliant meal. I expect a different standard from a 5-star hotel in the price category, especially if the menus contain only scant information about the ingredients.

At check-out we criticized the service and were informed that the hotel was sorry and that they would get back to us. In fact, we received a call the following week offering to leave a note on a future stay for a possible room upgrade or spa treatment. However, as the hotel does not allow children, it was clear that we would not be able to return in the next 1-2 years. We were promised to think again, which unfortunately never happened.

Although the hotel and spa are very nice, the service was a disappointment for us. If you value good service and consideration of intolerances, we cannot recommend the hotel. The value for money is not right here.

I have to admit that we were quite surprised. At first glance, the hotel seems mismatched in style, but you soon understand why. It was built over many years, so you can see what was trendy in the past and what is trendy today – and that’s exactly what gives it its unique atmosphere. It is owned by a family that takes care of it and strives to create the best environment for their guests. You will fall in love with the hotel, just as you will with the first-class service.

The hotel is beautiful. We have been there before and are always thrilled. The food is excellent, our service staff were all very polite and very accommodating. Wellness, sports, evening events - everything is very good and you feel very well looked after. However, the price is very high and that is why it is incomprehensible to me why you expect people who pay a lot of money to have dinner with dogs or to sit in the large hotel bar with dogs. Dinning in a parlor with three dogs... one barking, the other smelling, the third crawling under my table- sorry. I can't do it. You were also not asked on arrival if that is ok to sit there....dogs do not belong in the dining area, these can stay safely three hours in the room in the evening. Also not freewheeling in the bar. They jumped on the chairs there, played loudly throughout the room and nobody said anything. We know other 5 star hotels - animals are not allowed in this area, and that's a good thing. There are people who are allergic and otherwise feel irritated. Adults only and dog only - that's how you felt on Christmas Day. There must have been 14 dogs in the hotel. The hotel should urgently change sole rules here otherwise it will lose regular guests without a dog. We don't mind animals, but we really can't. Too bad!

A very nice hotel, with large bath and spa area. A good cuisine with a rich menu. The staff is very accommodating. The location near the Achensee is very nice, you can take relaxing walks and hikes. The cross-country ski trails are excellently groomed and also suitable for beginners.

In advance - the hotel is beautifully located and very well equipped. Insanely large wellness area, great dining rooms. Luggage service, massages excellent, very great riding stable with absolutely great service. The two girls were extraordinarily friendly and looked after me very well during the ride. Room service excellent and fast. The buffet for the morning is varied and has a huge fruit selection. The service in the morning just as attentive. Unfortunately, this was not always the case in the evening. We sometimes waited a very long time until drinks were included, as well as until plates were cleared. But what really annoyed me is the menu that is offered for 60 euros extra per person (plus drinks). In my view, the selection is good but not worth 60 euros. Likewise, if you stay longer than 7 days, exactly the same menu is repeated from day 1 on the 8th. Hello again. That was also on Sept. Day of the Fall etc. I've never seen anything like this in a hotel before. The offer must be different in a hotel every two weeks, usually every three weeks, then repeated. A 5-star hotel that opened to me on Aug. Day presents the menu card that I already got on the day of arrival is just embarrassing. Can't the kitchen anymore? This should be changed urgently. You feel really taken for granted as a guest in such a high-priced hotel. Too bad!

I agree with many other reviewers that everything about this hotel, from room, service, meal, spa, etc., is excellent. So I won’t repeat here. What I wanted to mention is that being adult only, this is obviously a romantic spot for couples. My husband and I came here eighteen years ago and loved it. But this time I came with my best friend. My friend and I live on the opposite side of the lake so we don’t get to see each other very often. For our milestone birthdays we decided to go away without husbands and kids for a long weekend. The two of us shared a family suite and had a fantastic time together. Our routine was tea/coffee in the living room, breakfast, walk, afternoon tea/cake, spa/treatments, and dinner. This was a perfect place for a relaxed friendship vacation.
