We stayed here because we couldn't get into a hotel in the Cite of Carcassonne, and I read in a guidebook that this was peaceful and atmospheric. It is only a few km out of Carcassonne, so it's ideally situated if you want to visit that city and the lovely region around it. The room was very spacious with lovely...

While this is quite a property, the decor doesn't seem to have been refreshed in decades, and some of the most attractive portions are the owner's and thus "off limits", although we did look down on them from our room. Our room was spacious and ideal for families or perhaps groups of friends (a king-bed room connected to a room...

We stayed here for one night during a 10 day trip to that region of France. The property is lovely and I hear that the restaurant is lovely. Our only problem was that basically the property was closed for the season and there was almost no one there. When we arrived on Sunday evening the lights were off in the...

This was my 4th visit to the restaurant at Cavanac but my first time to actually stay over in the hotel and I wasn't disappointed. The rooms are very spacious and the beds are huge !! The theme is very "old worldy" so you feel you are transported back in time. The restaurant is one of the best I have...

Wow, they did it again! This was our second stay here and M et Mme Gobin continue to run a fabulous establishment with excellent tho' unobtrusive service - nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are beautifully decorated and superbly comfortable, the food is of michelin star standard and at 42 euros for 5 sumptuous courses, all delivered beautifully with...

We spent four nights at Ch. de Cavanac, every one a pleasure. Our aim was simply to relax and enjoy the countryside, taking small excursions by car. We spent late afternoons by and in the pool [about 15-20 meters]. Dining al fresco in the restaurant was thoroughly enjoyable -- a fixed price set meal with local wines included. Our room...

We booked for one night at the last minute after reading reviews. What a treat! 20 minutes from Carcassonne. We had the Coeur de Marie suite but only for two of us (130 euros). You really need to stay for the meal which was a fabulous experince for 42E each which included 3 bottles of estate wine. Restaurant service was...

Adequate and elegant accommodation with a general rather run down feel. Charitably could be termed shabby chic but definitely not "dirty" as described in other threads. Having eaten dinner here on a previous trip, we booked to stay 2 nights and were not disappointed. The set dinner is fantastic!! We have recommended Chateau Cavanac to friends who have all agreed....

We stayed here for the night on the way from Toulouse to Ceret. The staff were very polite and friendly. The room (Belle de Nuit) was very large and pleasantly decorated but in a more traditional style rather than boutique type. The beautiful large windows opened onto a garden. Although we didn't use the pool we went to look at...

We stayed here in mid-July, while visiting the Carcassonne area, and where very pleased with our accomodations. The hotel is a rather large older chateau, but not in the classical chateau style (no turrets, ramparts, etc.). We stayed in one of the lower-priced rooms (120 Euros), and were pleased to discover extremely large accomodations, what one would probably consider a...
