Had lunch here on 11 Jul with a work colleague and his wife. The dining room is unassuming but the service was warm and efficient. The menu is varied but its strength is its emphasis on local produce, pork, foie gras, cheeses from the local dairy etc. We werent expecting much but were blown away by the high quality of...

The service is not a three Michelin star but who cares? The lady ran around the room and did he best, who could ask for more? On top of that Madame came and said hello to everyone. The foie gras entree on the degustation menu is outstanding. Maybe the best I have eaten. The following plates good cuisine de terroir....

Experience is conditioned by expectation. So do expect superb and original regional cooking. Do not expect the 24 hour service of an urban three star hotel. This is as much a restaurant with rooms as it is a hotel - and none the worse for it. The hotel side is very much traditional French rural. There are two grades of...

We have been visiting this restaurant regularly over the last four years, we were there last week and were disappointed with the menu. The amuse-bouche used to be something carefully presented and delicious, last week it was a small slice of soggy bread with cream cheese. The pumpkin soup, (which I remember they used to do with small pieces of...

We chose this hotel because of the reputation of its restaurant and we were not disappointed – the food was excellent. The hotel is located in a small village which was quite pleasant but had no shops or services apart from the hotel/restaurant. We arrived late in the afternoon to find the hotel door shut. We had to ring from...

We stayed here (via the Logis book) while travelling. It has fairly simple rooms but excellent food and it's all very reasonably priced. However, it's run in a bit of a cool way. There's no management or staff in any of the common areas most of the time and it would be so much better if everything was better lit...

We had booked a 1 night B&B as part of a trip from the Languedoc to Bilbao. On arrival, after a brief trip to St. Bertrand-de-Comminges on the way (don't miss it), 'madame' could find no record of our booking, made some weeks earlier and seemed a little put out that we had actually turned up. Luckily I had brought...

We spent two nights in this quiet corner of France, with time to visit the wonderful Grotte de Gargas and St Bertrand de Comminges. The hotel is basic and the rooms were clean and roomy enough, but the patronne was totally absent, and once we were shown the rooms, there was no one at reception until our departure 48 hours...

Finding a hotel on the road south from Auch is difficult as few seem to exist! Once one could stay at Hotel Dupont at Castelnau-Magnoac, but it is no longer listed by Logis de France and no longer recommended. In looking for somewhere a bit further south I read about the Relais de Castèra and booked for three nights as...

The hotel is basic and unremarkable, the restaurant on the other hand, is brilliant. It is, in fact, one of the best restaurants I have ever been to . The food is traditional French with local influences. It is characterised not just by smooth, creamy textures but also an exceptional intensity of flavors. The service is immaculate and its formality...

“I think all rooms are at the back of the hotel which reduces a bit of road noise. Sadly the water in the pipework is very noisy!”
