We visited this amazing family establishment for a cold weekend in November. The owners will take great care of you, the food is deliscious and the wine cellar is fantastic. We were four middle aged friends who stayed in a newly renovated family room.

This review covers the hotel, not the restaurant or wine bar. The Krug is located in Hattenheim, which is a separate village that is part of Eltville. The hotel consists of a conglomerate of old buildings that are directly connected. You move between the buildings without having to step out. The old construction is well preserved with visible beams while... More

Nice staff and great free breakfast. We also ate dinner at the hotel . It was very good . Free parking out the back door. Minutes from the Rhine River. Was good location for seeing several different Christmas Markets.

I wanted to give this high marks because it looks so cute - and the renovated wing appeared deluxe. However, the beds only had extruded foam instead of proper mattresses and when I looked under the foam, there was old cardboard box placed there in a vain attempt to provide some sort of support. Adequate, cold breakfast buffet is provided.

I really wanted to fall in love with Weinhaus Zum Krug. Looked so perfect on paper: family run, great restaurant, local charm in a beautiful village. The hotel was reached easily from Frankfurt via Wiesbaden - the hotel is a short walk through the quaint village from the railway station. The greeting was warm and friendly. My room was (I... More

Charming, historic building wth new extension. Rooms in the new section are very spacious and very comfortable, although pricy. No elevator but prompt help with luggage. Very good restaurant (Michelin Bib Gourmand) with outdoor dining on small courtyard. Excellent breakfast. Very pleasant experience.

I have been eating at Zum Krug and drinking their wines for many years. I have never had a bad meal or bottle of wine, The menu is a great mix of traditional and modern German. The chef has a robust palate and cooks accordingly. Service is always good. Highly recommended (and should be featured as a restaurant as well... More

Zum Krug is a really traditional German hotel and restaurant, but with modern touches. The rooms are comfortable and mostly of a good size. The bathrooms of excellent standard. The service in both the restaurant and the hotel in general is excellent and the staff, plus the owner and his wife are always very helpful. The food is of an... More

I used to stay at the Weinhaus zum Krug frequently up to a decade ago, always pleased with the service and the quality. I was eager to find out if and how it had changed over the past 10 years when I traveled to that area again recently. The good news: it is as pleasant as it was before. While... More

My husband booked Zum Krug as a birthday treat for me. We have been several times before and have always enjoyed it. We arrived very late indeed (close to 1am) due to getting lost in the dark rainy night but Josef Laufer Jnr was there waiting for us with a smile. We stayed in one of the new rooms (Kloster... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
... more   less
