We were fascinated with this Fattoria, since we enjoyed excellent Chianti wine, in a place that we will never forget. Its landscapes are incredible, the air and tranquility that you breathe, made our stay the best.
In addition to the fact that the service at the place is excellent, they are very friendly. We had the opportunity to see the facilities of the place and get to know the vineyards.
We would definitely return to this place and live an experience like this. We recommend this place to come with your partner, friends or family, as it is ideal.

What can I say. If you want a wonderful farmhouse stay in an enchanted location, visit Casa Sola. There are no hot tubs or private chefs here, just the beauty of Tuscany tucked away halfway between Florence and Siena.
My family of five visited Casa Sola in October, a perfect month when the grapes were being harvested. Our apartment was charming and complete with everything we needed. The setting was fabulous - an old, renovated farmhouse nestled among olive groves and vineyards. The kids had plenty of room to stretch out and their room even had bunk beds!! We left our hearts at Casa Sola. We will return again there this spring!

Spent 8 nights at the Casa Sola (White Apartment) during the middle of September. Beautiful setting in lovely countryside, near the charming village of San Donato. Great location - approximately half-way between Florence and Siena. It was the perfect home base for touring all of the beautiful surronding villages & towns in the Chianti Region of Tuscany. The buildings on the estate were lovely, quaint. The vineyards/olive trees made the setting perfect. Staff were patient and helpful - many thanks to Maria, Ilaria, and Mateo. For four Canadian ladies touring Tuscany for the first time, it was ideal.

This was a return visit to Casa Sola and once again, we had a wonderful experience. This time we left from Canada and flew direct to Firenze. Within an hour of landing we had picked up our rental car and we were in the Salvia apartment - a much easier trip than traveling via Rome. We unlocked the door of the Salvia apartment to find a bottle of Casa Sola’s special Riserva waiting for us in celebration of my birthday - even matching the year of production of the Riserva to our last visit! That was pretty special attention to detail from their amazing office manager, Ilaria. The Salvia is a very special apartment for us - not just the amazing view and structure of the villa itself but the spotless housekeeping and crisp linens, no telephones, no TV - just the sounds of the wind, occasional wild boar control and a few rain showers (we were there in November). This location gave us the downtime we were seeking after a busy fall schedule. After unwinding, we took walks around the farm and made our way down to the office to visit and hookup to WiFi to check on things back home. It was quite a unique feeling when we were even remembered by the owners - this is a place that pays attention to their clients! (they also continue to share their knowledge of wine and olive production as well as advice on travel to other regions, local special places and events of interest). The olive oil and wine produced at Casa Sola is excellent quality and very reasonably priced. Ilaria arranged for cooking lessons at the apartment. This was a terrific evening and our chef truly enhanced our appreciation of Italian cooking and culture. Casa Sola is an excellent base to pick out your own local groceries and cook at "home", check out the historical sites and shops in Castellina, Sienna and Firenze or just enjoy the ambiance of Chianti. The advice, friendly greetings and service offered by the staff and owners makes Casa Sola our favourite home away from home in Chianti.

Casa Sola provided everything we were looking for on our trip to Chianti! Our “apartment” was secluded, with beautiful views, which made for a memorable breakfast on the patio, and an evening glass of wine even MORE spectacular (bring bug spray). It was quite a drive from the main building, but our hostess, Barbara, couldn’t have been more accommodating!!! I honestly have to hold back from writing this entire review in praise of this wonderful woman!❤️ I STILL find it hard to believe that she responded to my texts LATE in the evening, when we got lost on the dirt roads (suggestion: download What’s App Before you go). She provided us with dining suggestions (we LOVED La Toppa), answered every question we had, and helped to arrange wine tasting... along with Matteo, one of the owners, who was an absolute delight to listen to, as he shared information about his wine and the history of the building. Matteo also suggested a restaurant- which he told us was very simple (I can’t recall the name, but he equated it to eating at Nonna’s house) and it was perfect! He also made it very easy to ship our wine back home - after an afternoon of tasting, we couldn’t resist! We couldn’t wait to open it when it arrived back home in Bethlehem, PA!

This was the trip that I had been dreaming of, and it didn’t disappoint! It was perfect!

Caution, however: When our driver took us for a tasting at Pasolini d’all Onda, the wine-maker informed us the credit card machine wasn’t working, so he needed cash to complete out wine order. We have not yet received the order, and it has been 4 weeks. I’d like to suggest that Casa Sola (and their driver) doesn’t recommend that winery.

first of all the area is beautiful. Totally isolated, the villa was in the middle of the vine yard, amazing view. the closest little town has pretty much everything and just a short drive. the house is very comfortable, though because there were no available villas for couples we actually stayed in a 2 bedroom villa- so we had lots of space. The area is full of amazing restaurants, beautiful routs and ancient little towns and we enjoyed just wondering around drinking wine and eating amazing food.
we didn't use the pool since it wasn't the season but I can see why it's annoying the pool is so far away from the accommodation. Probably would have been disappointed if was thinking of using it but- that wasn't the case so didn't mind.
The service is a bit lacking and a bit absent at times. For the first two nights we were freezing and didn't understand how to turn the heating on- turns out you need to ask in advance cus it takes 12 hours till it starts! So if I can advice you to ask in the morning to turn the heating for the evening.
Their wine is fabulous, the view is breathtaking, and just what we wanted from Tuscany! We had a wonderful time and would definitely go again!

We stayed at Fattoria Casa Sola for two weeks this past summer and I have waited, deliberately, for several months before writing this review. We had a great time. We met an incredibly nice family from Denmark with whom we are still in touch. My kids, in particular, loved it there and that is always a good thing. But for what we paid ($370 US per night for a four bedroom) I think you could do better.

Let me start with the positives - the owner of the property, Matteo, is a true gentleman. The farm has been in his family for three generations and he relishes the art of making wine. He hosts a dinner every Wednesday (for a set charge) which was a real treat. When he discovered that we needed internet service for our work and we didn't have it, he immediately found an effective solution. We did the wine tour and it was very informative. The wines are great too. The location was very central to everything in Tuscany. The Fattoria is roughly equidistant to Sienna and Florence. We took multiple day trips to both places. There are so many interesting towns and countless musical events and festivals going on throughout Tuscany, and the staff prepares a list every week for guests. They also arranged a baby sitter for us so we could have a parents' night out. The apartment was wonderfully decorated, clean and spacious. Our bedroom window looked out over the vineyards to the lights of the neighboring towns. It was quite beautiful.

Unfortunately, the layout on the web is deceiving. The primary picture that you see is not of the apartments; it is of the main office. The actual apartments are a 1.2 km drive from that buildling - I know because I clocked it myself (they claim it is 600 meters, but that is as the crow flies). And that's significant because, as another reviewer noted, the pool and the hot spot for internet service are located at the main office, not at the apartments. (The confirmation email I received said the pool was "nearby" the apartments). You have to drive from the apartments to the main office to gain internet access. And it was, at best, sporadic. Further, for families with small kids, walking to the pool along a dusty dirt road on a hot summer day in Tuscany is not an option. Most everyone drove to the pool, which was a bit of a hassle. I suppose if I knew this in advance I wouldn't have been so upset when I arrived; then again, if I knew this in advance, I might have booked a place somewhere else.

The apartments themselves really do not have much privacy, and ours (the white apartment) had more than most. Whenever we walked from the parking area to our apartment we walked right alongside the outdoor terrace for three other apartments, which I suspect did not contribute much to the repose of the people staying there). We could easily hear noise (conversation, other kids) from the families on either side of us, whether from an adjacent terrace or, at times, through the walls themselves. To another reviewer's point, the kitchen was not entirely well appointed and that was a challenge when we stayed at home and prepared meals.

I would add that the staff, while very nice, was not always on their game. At times, we had difficulty getting things we had asked for or getting assistance for things we needed. The office was often shut down in the middle of the day; a couple times this happened when guests or wine tourists would arrive. I suspect some reading this may dismiss it by saying '"that's just another untraveled American griping about not receiving 8 star service in a foreign country." Let me simply add that we spent six weeks travelling all over Italy this past summer with our kids. It is an amazing country with an incredible history and some of the friendliest and warmest people on the earth. I don't think that a 'fend for yourself' attitude is endemic among the hospitality industry in Italy, at least not the Italy I saw, and not at $370US a night.

In a word, go to Fattoria, do the wine tour and taste the wines, but I think you probably can find a better place to stay.

Have been coming here since 1997-better all the time! Knowledgeble, friendly, thoughtful and courteous staff right in the middle of Chianti Classico, between Florence & Siena with San Gimignano in sight and Arezzo in the other direction. A few kilometes off the highway.
GREAT wine/vineyard.
The apartments are squeky clean and spacious. Great views on the property because of the elevation.
AND, wait until you smell those rosemary bushes!!

My family and I booked 4 nights at Casa Sola based upon recommendations from a previous guest and agreed to their non-cancellation policy. We were to spend one night in a one bathroom unit and three more in a two bathroom unit. We arrived late on a holiday evening with the office closed, but a key and directions provided in an envelope. So no adjustments were possible that evening.

Our unit was filthy and in it we discovered over 25 large daddy long-leg spiders. Before the discovery one of them dropped into my son's wineglass and he almost swallowed it. He was so upset he was nearly catatonic for a day. We felt imprisoned the entire evening but doubted we could find alternative accommodations till the next day. My other son and I spent 2 hours sweeping the entire unit to find and remove all spiders. The amount of dust we uncovered was extraordinary. In the morning the office manager refused to let us cancel the remainder of our reservation. She suggested the spiders must have been born "yesterday after the cleaners cleaned the unit". Apparently she thought we were born yesterday. They showed us a "much better unit" to which we were scheduled to move, but the ceiling of each bedroom was infested with bugs. In addition, the units are extremely rustic with no electronic conveniences such as a microwave or a coffeemaker. We left and contested the charges with Visa, but lost the dispute because of their documented no cancellation policy. At least we didn't have to spend any more time in fear and discomfort at Casa Sola.

Our recommendation: unless you are perfectly happy with a bug infested environment provided at first class prices, we suggest you limit your Casa Sola travel to wine tastings.

In a beautiful setting in the middle of the Chianti valley the outter appearance is almost perfect and a scenic view is included. The problem comes when you compare price to value. There is mould in the bathroom, there is dust and spiderwebs everywhere (definitely due to insufficient cleaning and not to being "agriturismo") and the beds are very uncomfortable (totally worn out). It could be the perfect place, but it's not. Very sad to say as the recommendations from other sources as e.g. Guide de Charme promise something different. Plus you hear the Superstrada which one should know before booking.
