Detailed Reviews
What a truly lovely host and location. Stoneborough house and it’s rooms were immaculate and Budleigh Salterton is a very well kept secret if you’re of a certain age.
We only stayed for one night as part of our “South Coast Staycation” trip and wished that we’d stayed a lot longer 😊.
Katheryn (and her partner) were so accommodating and welcoming and it says something when you meet other guests at the breakfast table and are immediately engaged in interesting conversations (even if English isn’t their first language!). Everyone was at ease and well rested and in no small part due to the very welcoming accommodation and hosts. Nothing was too much hassle, from the offer of a “taxi type ride” to Exmouth (by Katherine) to the speciality tea desired by the other (Swiss) guests.
We will definitely be booking to come back again. x

We were immediately welcomed by George and Kathryn upon arrival with a tour of this large, spacious B & B and well cared for huge garden and a much needed refreshing drink.
The twin room we had requested was large, comfortable, with a view through the South facing window of part of the garden.
There was an excellent shower / WC - well stocked with all the necessary toiletries in full sized bottles, rather than the small sample bottles normally provided. Other, not normally found, accessories were thoughtfully provided.
Tea/ coffee etc making facilities were available in excellent matching crockery, replenished without failure each day, along with several “surprises”.
The breakfast menu was excellent, with numerous options and Kathryn’s wonderful assortment of her home made jams and marmalade, everything being well presented and fresh.
A fridge was also provided near to the dining room for our use and well stocked with cold drinks.
The whole B & B was so much larger than expected, with a large lounge and conservatory.
Kathryn and George were so helpful with advice and suggestions and also provided a list of places to eat in the surrounding area.
Altogether a very relaxing and enjoyable week in a luxury B & B that we would recommend.

Excellent in all respects - our stay is always the highlight of our regular trips to Devon.
Kathryn is the perfect host - the rooms are beautifully presented. Tea and cake are offered on arrival and slices of cake left in the room each day of one's stay. We would not want to stay anywhere else

Welcoming, comfortable, clean, quiet. The breakfast was wonderful offering a selection including fresh fruit, a full English cooked breakfast and honey from the garden that really set us up for the day. Kathryn made us feel very welcome and it was lovely after a day out to come back and relax and enjoy the elegant lounge and conservatory as well as the excellent bedrooms. It made for a very enjoyable few days in Budleigh Salterton.

We stayed for two nights at the wonderful Stoneborough House, and wish we'd booked for longer! Katherine was the most thoughtful hostess - we delighted in her delicious home made cakes and marmalades and jams! We were greeted at the door, given tea and cakes on arrival, and shown the 'geography' of the house.
Our room was very large, extremely clean and well stocked with shower and bath products, as well as a variety of teas, coffees and hot chocolate. A fridge was available downstairs for fresh milk and cans of 'pop'.
Breakfast was something to which to look forward. Everything we ate was well cooked, beautifully presented and tasty. My husband and I could not fault the venue nor the hospitality afforded to us. Small details made the difference! Thank you Katherine and George for making our stay so memorable!

This B&B offers the perfect stay. The whole house is decorated and furnished to a very high standard and is very comfortable, clean and spacious. Our room had a lovely sofa in it ideal for relaxing with a book, facilities in the room included a lovely English tea set with teas, coffee and treats including home made cake daily - which was delicious. The bed was very comfortable and the room a good size with a nice shower room.
Our hosts were very helpful, including recommendations of places to eat and good walks.
The breakfast was also delicious, good selection. The seasonal fruit was perfect, as were the eggs and choice of home made jam and marmalades.
We were very well looked after and it was a perfect place to come to at the end of the day.

Stoneborough House is a beautifully decorated residence, with the hosts both welcoming and extremely helpful in all respects. The pièce de résistance has to be breakfast, which is delicious, nutritious and wonderfully presented - undoubtedly one of the best I have ever tasted! Thank you for a superb visit!

Stoneborough House Hotel is the best B&B we have ever stayed in. It was clean, comfortable and airy with lots of attention to detail and in a lovely quiet location, with beautifully tended gardens. The extra little touches that Kathryn and George provide really make a massive difference, such as a welcoming pot of tea served in the conservatory with homemade lemon polenta cake was amazing. At the end of every day we came back to our room to find slices of the best ever homemade Victoria sponge cake just waiting for us.
There was a good selection of food on offer for breakfast, which in addition to the full English, included a wonderful fruit platter complete with a smoothie shot.
Nothing was too much trouble for Kathryn and George and they were the perfect hosts with excellent local knowledge. I would highly recommend a stay at Stoneborough House.

If you have been looking for the perfect B&B, you have found it here. We travel a fair amount and are pretty fussy, but all I can do is say how terrific everything about Stoneborough house is.
The property is gorgeous and meticulously maintained, and the rooms match this in style and comfort. I have never had a better breakfast in a B&B, including the ability to customize it in a wide variety of ways.
Kathryn and George are amiable and caring hosts who take exceptional care of their guests. We had a wonderful several days at Stoneborough House and recommend it with enormous enthusiasm.

This was our 2nd visit to Stoneborough House. We were warmly welcomed and after being shown our room we were offered a hot drink and homemade cake in the conservatory. This is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet. Lovely meals nearby and walks. Breakfast is spectacular with so much choice. Kathryn and George are great hosts. On this occasion there were other guests at breakfast and it was lovely to chat to them and not be at our own little table. Like a big family of strangers. We will definitely be back again. Both rooms we have stayed in have recently been refurbished and the opulence of the rooms is beautiful. We love the furniture, curtains and the whole atmosphere. Love it, love it, love it.
