Sally has been a wonderful, understanding host, helping us rescue a 60th birthday weekend at very short notice after we were let down by another host . A fabulous house close to the sea in Gosport - beautiful garden, enough outside seating for everyone to enjoy the weather. Very comfy beds and top class bed linen . We had a brilliant stay as a group of 13 friends (a spacious kitchen/dining area, with everything we needed including glasses all set out for us, and a welcome bottle of bubbly!) the location is great with a short cut through the back gate to the seafront and local restaurant Pebbles was just perfect.

The Windbrake was absolutely amazing. One of the best places we've ever stayed (and we've stayed at some amazing places!) We got such a warm welcome, lovely tea and cake and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the gold room and the bed was like sleeping on a giant marshmallow, the bath was awesome and the shower was excellent (a good shower is important!). What made it so special was all the little extras that they gave you, there were sweets, lovely tea and coffee facilities and every single toiletry imaginable. So many spares and lovely touches like candles and bubble bath. It was a good and quiet nights sleep and breakfast was beautiful with good quality produce, a relaxed atmosphere (emphasis was made that there was no rush) And lots of tea provided. There seemed to be no limit as to the help and generosity of the host (who was lovely!) And I can honestly say, it was money well spent!
Thank you Windbrake house!

Just returned from a one night stay and cannot fault this excellent guesthouse! The accommodation and decor of the whole property was stylist and immaculate. The hosts welcomed us with fresh coffee and a homemade Victoria sponge cake. The hospitality continued over a delicious breakfast. We will definitely be returning very soon.

Sally & Steve could not have been more welcoming and kind during our two recent stays. We were not on holiday but visiting last moment for personal family reasons and they went out of their way to take care of us.
The room was delightful, beautifully decorated, with everything we needed to make our stay memorable despite the sad circumstances.
We will definitely stay again when visiting Gosport as Windbreak House is simply the perfect place to stay.
Thank you Sally and Steve.

We guessed it was never going to be easy to find a decent Bed & Breakfast for one night on a weekend break during school half-term in Gosport. .. (or so we thought) … Leaving it to the last minute, our usual ports of call (Booking.com and Trip Advisor) were scanned through to get a shortlist. Somewhere not too far from the Submarine Museum with a good trip advisor review and “Windbrake House” seemed to fit the bill. Off street car parking at the B&B, not too far to drive to the nearby museum and our date available too!
The car sat-nav got us straight there using the Post Code and we had a couple of phone-calls from us to the B&B during our journey down to re-confirm our arrival time, with no problems.

We settled for the bedroom with the large four-poster bed, plenty of space and a well-appointed en-suite bathroom… and we weren’t disappointed. A nice pot of tea made for us and a slice of cake brought to the room set the scene straight away. This was very much appreciated after a long drive and added an extra touch, especially since there were self-help tea and coffee making facilities in the room already.

A deep Victorian style floor standing bath with complimentary Badedas Gel in the bathroom creating a warm foaming place to sink into and relax and it was very welcome. The large walk in shower was powerful and refreshing in the morning too. Several extra touches in the bedroom such as magazines to browse, a jar of toffees, free easily accessible Wi-Fi and big double aspect panoramic bay windows (with a glimpse of the Isle of White across the Solent) adding to the sense of space and all helped to get us settled in straight away.

The big comfy bed ensured a great night’s sleep and we were told it came all the way from India. With a deep sumptuous mattress and great quality quilt and pillows, it was much appreciated after a long drive.
Breakfast was ordered the night before and we had a very helpful insight from the owners about the history of the house and the availability of parking, passenger ferry to Portsmouth, footpath to the seafront etc.
The breakfast was set in a comfortable dining room and was very tasty indeed. The breakfast tea in white porcelain china was exceptionally welcoming and refreshing. Piping hot with a traditional flavour...just the job.

Another conversation about the history of the house and the WW2 involvement in the Mulberry Harbour trials and Normandy landings was very interesting and there’s a wealth of books in the dining room available to dip-into, peruse and absorb the details for those interested. A key was available to open the private garden gate and access a shortcut down to the sea front, but we didn’t have time to explore on our short stay.
Suffice to say, we left Windbrake House happy and contented with our choice and can thoroughly recommend it for visitors…I think we’ll be back when we have more time to visit.

Nothing we can say that hasn't been said before, great room The Mulberry, but very high bed,but still managed to get on it and was very comfortable , views overlooking the Solent .And the breakfast was fantastic. Easy to get down to the sea front through the back gate. Thanks again Sally, hope to be back one day.

We almost don't want to write this review as we want to keep Windbrake House a secret!!! It is fantastic! The history of the house itself is fascinating. The rooms and the house are beautifully decorated but the attention to detail and little extras in the rooms e.g. spare toothbrushes, jar of sweets, fresh milk, raises Windbrake House above any B&B we've ever stayed in. Sally is an absolute star, serving tea and homemade cake when we arrived. Sally and her husband couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We are looking for an excuse to visit and stay again......

As a few friends were leaving the UK to travel for the rest of the year we decided to book a weekend away to have a good send off. On arrival we were greeted by a wonderfully friendly Sally who showed us to our rooms. Our group of 6 occupied all of the rooms and I stayed in the "Gold" room which was immaculate with an incredible ensuit bathroom and the most luxuriant and comfortable bed i have ever had the pleasure of sleeping in.

The breakfast was lovely, having a full english in the morning and Sally was on hand and more than helpful in giving us advice on where to go and what to do in the area.

I well deserved 5 star rating, we are looking forward to booking again for when our friends return from their travels.

My partner and I stayed here over the weekend, and it was a great choice. We stayed in the Juno room which I've noticed people haven't reviewed. It's the smallest room, with an huge bed, which was just so comfortable that we had a couple of early nights just watching television in the room. The bathroom has a drench shower which we adored and want one ourselves!

On arrival, Sally met us and had a chat before showing us up to our room, giving us some of the lovely carrot cake (which I was very sorry that I couldn't finish!) and fresh milk for a cup of tea. She explained the local area, including where to eat really well which was a great help as we've never been down there before. The next morning she suggested taking the ferry to Portsmouth, and where to park for £4 all day which we did and had a lovely day.

The attention to detail in the room is fantastic. All the ammenities you'd expect - hairdryer, kettle etc, and then some. A jar of sweets, lovely toiletries and in the bathroom a little jar with feminine hygiene products. There's also toothpaste and toothbrushes in case you forget your own! The tea and coffee was also great - there was a nice selection of green, and herbal teas to choose from.

Breakfast in the morning was fantastic and by no means a small portion. Sally brings you tea or coffee along with toast, and we had the traditional breakfast; two big sausages, two rashers of bacon, mushrooms, beans, egg and the freshest tasting tomato ever. Really lovely and was well enjoyed by us both. You can also help yourself to juice, cereal, yogurts and fresh fruit salad.

There are DVD's in the hallway to watch too which I thought was a great touch.

The only reason I've left one point off is because at times I felt like we needed to be rather quiet. This might just come out of respect for Sally and Steven and the other guests, but we found ourselves tip toe-ing when we came in at night after going out for dinner. This isn't to say that Sally didn't make us feel comfortable - she does that with great ease and an obvious love for what she does and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or recommend to anyone else. If you're staying in Gosport, you must stay here.

I'd never seen a place on Tripadvisor with all 5 star reviews before. Having tried it and stayed there, I am no longer surprised, just converted!

Amazing hosts, so welcoming (including cake on arrival), wonderfully accommodating when we had some major train delays and so arrived a lot later than expected. The room was absolutely gorgeous -- lovely views, beautifully furnished (tall four poster bed) and the bathroom really nice too (the only tiny criticism being that the shower was a little temperamental in terms of maintaining a consistent temperature...).

Breakfast the next morning was delicious & generous, and Sally was even kind enough to get gluten free options for my wife so she could enjoy it all too.

Unreservedly recommend and now need to find more excuses to visit Gosport so we can stay again!
