Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I work locally and rather than staying in local hotels in haltwhistle or Hexham I decided to give Belford a try. Good decision. Nice room. Very well thought through. Lots of nice touches. Water coffee milk wine glasses iron board, good quality towels etc. Lots of detailed information on the local area. Great shower. Comfortable bed. Great value. Will certainly try to stay again

Extremely comfortable and high quality accommodation. Comfy beds, strong shower and a lot of thought has gone into making sure you had everything you would need for a stay. Lots of nice touches eg fresh coffee/cafetiere and fresh milk in a fridge. Better than a lot of hotel rooms. Highly recommended.

Absolute gem of a place ! Tidy clean and well thought out rooms . We were in the room with the bath and shower facilities . Flawless entry to the property by key code and a nice quiet room . Great little added touches such as guest Netflix and Alexa! Comfortable bed. Will definitely be returning.

Belford House was a pleasure to stay at for our weeks stay. Very comfortable and clean. Had everything in the room that we needed. Shower was superb too. Perfect location for our stay as well and the Sainsburys car park was free to park in which was only a small distance away.

As all previous reviewers have said, this accommodation is top class: everything you could want and more. Fabulous shower, luxury toiletries, thick towels, quiet mini fridge, cafetière, etc. Easy parking at front (weekend) or at Sainsbury’s a short walk away. Our only grumble was that the bus AD122 which we had planned to take to Hadrian’s Wall was cancelled due to a strike, so be sure to check ahead if hoping to use it. Fortunately we had a car so we were still able to see what we wanted. All in all, a great place to stay. Thank you Helen and Phil.

The room was newly renovated, thoroughly cleaned and came with a mini fridge containing bottled water and a bottle of fresh milk. Other thoughtful considerations such as coffee/tea, biscuits, a waterboiler, and even earplugs, really set the tone for what was indeed a pleasant stay.

Really nice and affordable, just perfect. Top quality/price ratio. A lot of little accommodations (coffe, tea, chacolate, biscuits, little fridge with fresh milk and water, Alexa soundspeaker... ) that make the stay even more enjoyable. Close to restaurants and free parking spaces. Thanks a lot to Phil and Helen for this stay !

After 8 hrs running The Wall from Bowness, one could not have hoped for better accommodation. The communication regarding the self-service check in was excellent and the spacious warm shower was amazing. The attention to detail in the spotless room was superb, I stay in top hotels in Europe which are not as good as this. Bottles of cold water were a godsend and a cafetière with fresh coffee, fresh milk and also hot chocolate were extremely welcome. Proper towels were provided and the bed was comfortable and the linen crisp. Wi-Fi was appreciated and a brochure with advice of everything available locally was valuable. I had breakfast at Jethros a few doors away which was great. All in all, 10/10 - thank you Phil and Helen for providing such wonderful accommodation to a weary traveller!

We really enjoyed our stay at Belford House. We stayed for two nights as a base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall and the nearby Roman forts at Housesteads and Vindolanda. The accommodation was excellent, very clean, welcoming and extremely comfortable. We had an en-suite double room that was well appointed - a comfy bed, chairs and desk with towels and toiletries provided (including a hairdryer). The complimentary tea and coffee facilities were much appreciated, and very impressive. Our room had a kettle; fridge; cafetière; wine glasses; a bottle opener; as well as complimentary coffee (fresh and instant), tea bags, bottled water, fresh milk, hot chocolate, sugar, sweetener, and biscuits. Our room also included a TV and Amazon Alexa (with access to unlimited music). There are no breakfast facilities at the house but this was not a problem at all. We chose to buy our own breakfast supplies, but Haltwhistle has several cafés, including one right next door which can provide breakfast. The on-street parking in front of the house is free but limited to 2 hours 9am-6pm Monday to Saturday. However, this was not a problem for us as we arrived on a Sunday and were out exploring for most of the daytime. Haltwhistle also has a conveniently located free town car park very close by. All in all Belford House was the perfect place for our stay in Haltwhistle. The cleanliness, welcoming feel and exceptional facilities were outstanding. It’s clear how much care and effort the owners have put into welcoming guests, and we wanted to say thank you for such a lovely stay. We would 100% recommend Belford House and would certainly return!

Amazing, spacious room, attention to detail is extraordinary! Everything you may need for a really enjoyable, comfortable stay is provided! Tastefully decorated, co-ordinated furniture and fittings, excellent shower! This is the sixth room we’ve stayed in during our holiday, it’s by far the best, amazing value for money. Needless to say, it was beautifully presented. Would love to be staying longer!
