Couldn't fault The George. Went on the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed. The room was clean, spacious and overlooking The Square. The food was excellent, especially the starters to share - don't make the mistake I did and have one to yourself as a main course. It's far too much! The staff were friendly, helpful and very...

We have just returned from a trip to Longleat staying at The George Inn. Firstly, a big thank you to all staff who made our trip an enjoyable one. Really nice food, we were a larger group so were given a private room to eat in, which was great. Very homey, warm and welcoming atmosphere. The only downfalls were a...

We did not stay here, we were visiting relatives and just booked Sunday Lunch. food was excellent and all of our party had different meals. Fireplace made us smile, lovely old fireplace with a modern film of a fire showing on a screen thing in the grate.

The rooms were lovely, very Farrow and Ball, all seemed to have been newly refurbished, very comfortable bed, quiet and very clean with lovely toiletries. Our room only had a bath - no shower and I would have liked to have known that beforehand as I prefer a shower and some rooms did have one so probably worth asking if...

Came here on a cold November evening. Entered a warm and friendly pub with a nice log fire burning. Place is clearly popular as all the tables in the restaurant were reserved so we sat in the bar which was fine. Friendly staff who despite being very busy quickly took our order. My wife went for the lamb while I...

Medieval looking pub in the centre of this easily accessed town beside the A303. We ate here as a party of nine, and pre-ordered our food by email during the preceeding afternoon. The beer was good: the Badger ale (it is a tied house) was far better than I have had at one or two other pubs owned by the...

After a holiday in Dorset, ending at Longleat, this was the perfect place for a relaxing stay, before travelling home. We felt very welcome and booked dinner for seven. Our room, and it seems, all of the first floor, seem to have been recently refurbished. The improvements have not, however, changed the historical look of the property, and we found...

We dropped in for the first time. Lovely looking pub and friendly staff. A good range of food available. We wanted a light lunch so ordered two baguettes. 45 minutes layer we chased up the order and it arrived 10 minutes later. Good food but a long wait.
